    and its a permit

  • @robscards6313

    i think it is a permit because the flesh near the dorsal and pelvic fins is sharp, and also because the fin on the dorsal fin is long.... with a pompano, the flesh is more rounded, and the dorsal fin is shorter.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому

      +Rob Lopez After circling the photo in Multi-Species forums and asking my Multi-Species friends, we did come to the conclusion that the fish was a Permit (_Trachinotus falcatus_). Thanks for your input, Rob! Tight lines!

    Pufferfish make cool sounds.

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому +1

      +Robert Whalen Indeed. They make awesome noises! The Grunts make cool noises as well. For the Puffer fish, though, you gotta be careful with their clipping teeth. Those teeth can take a chunk of your meat off if you are not too careful. Yikes. Tight lines, Robert!

    I have seen some people at a beach club I go to have caught some sea robin before, but no matter how man times I tried, I still have trouble catching that fish no matter how many spots and tries I've done to catch that fish so I can cross it off my bucket list ;-;

    Nice fishing down there, cant wait for part 5 of Florida fishing! Quick questions Do the pufferfish, that you caught down in Florida, have spikes at all, or do they hurt when they inflate? Because in this and other Florida videos that you made, I don't see any spikes on the belly. Also do you think that pufferfish feel pain when they inflate? Great video and Catch a big one!

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому +1

      +Ciaran McCloskey Those are good questions. There are different types of Puffer fish. The Checkered Puffer, Southern Puffer, Northern Puffer, Bandtail Puffer -- all of those do not have spikes on them. The ones that have spines on them are usually referred to as "Porcupinefish." They don't hurt when they inflate and their bellies get really tough when that happens. Thus, it's not like a sensitive balloon. Heh. Tight lines, Ciaran!

  • @Jubi316

    Are you allowed To keep the fish there , like the puffer fish because I would like to catch some for my aquarium . Them fish are really high in the fish stores .

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому

      +Kickingtheirbasstv Yes. As far as the fish is not in the creel and limits regulations for the state of Florida, you are allowed to keep it for your own personal purposes. You can't sell it, though! Also, it may be illegal to transport certain Species of fish live, since lots of them down there are invasive Species of fish. Tight lines and fish on, Kickingtheirbasstv!

    • @Jubi316
      @Jubi316 8 років тому +1

      +Gary Gonesoen There were two different setups in this video. One was a slip-sinker setup (ua-cam.com/video/43VXdceohkI/v-deo.html) and the other one was just a sinker on top of a small hook (size #10 Mustad). Tight lines, Gary!

    I thought pufferfish were poisonous to hold?

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому

      +Dan cota No. They are poisonous to eat depending on the Species and how you clean them. I wouldn't advise ANYONE to eat a Pufferfish without first doing some extensive research on the fish and having the expertise of cleaning it properly. Heh. Tight lines, Dan!

    spottail pinfish is wrong it is a blak band porgy

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому

      +Joan Scharaldi Interesting. What is the scientific name of the Black Band Porgy? I googled it, but couldn't find anything. I am almost 100% sure that this fish is a Spottail Pinfish, which is in the "Porgy family." But I would be pleased to take a look at the other Species and compare. Tight lines, Joan!

    @jmknapp6632 8 років тому

    no offense at all do you ever catch any fish over 25lbs

    • @extremephillyfishing
      @extremephillyfishing  8 років тому

      +KNAPP MOLLIE No offense taken. :) This is a Multi-Species fishing channel, after all; and not a "trophy fish" type of place. As for your question -- yes, I have caught fishes bigger than 25lbs before. My Personal Best Flathead Catfish from the Schuylkill River is a 33lber. PB Common Carp is 34lbs from the Frankford Creek. Just this past Summer I caught a 35-40lbs Cownose Ray (no video for it, but photo is in the Google+ album). My biggest fish back in Brazil was a Jaú that measured 76kg (167.5lbs). Apart from those fishes, I have caught my share of big fishes in the past.
      But again -- this Channel is not about sizes. Of course big fish are welcome, but the main purpose of my UA-cam Channel is to portray the different Species of fish that I find here and there -- micro-fishes included.
      Tight lines and FISH ON, Knapp!

    That is without a doubt a Permit I know it's a Permit because it has the tiny bit of orenge on the belly where the anal fin is and it is more aggressively box shaped compared to the Florida pompano
