I’m a little late to comment. Nuendo as an absolute post powerhouse. It’s gained a lot of momentum internationally. In North America it’s still Pro Tools everywhere, not because people think Pro Tools better, but it’s part of a post workflow system that companies don’t want to break. Eventually it will happen. Much like Resolve entering into Media Composer’s space. Slowly but surely. Avid isn’t gaining market share, they are trying to sustain what they have. Their ‘growth’ strategy is moving people to Cloud editing plans on Azure.
Great video Jeff, I purchased Nuendo last year (and upgraded recently) but need to learn how to properly work with it. Please continue your wonderful educational/tutorials on this brilliant tool✨
Wow, your timing couldn't be better. I have done a few short film scores in Cubase and want to get more involved in sound design and post production and was looking at Nuendo. Thanks for putting this together, and I am down in Seattle. Would love to literally buy you a cup of coffee sometime and chat.
Well hello Monsieur Adam's! 👋 (Did I get it right?) Thanks for another great video Jeff, I needed this one. I think im jumping ship from Studio One to either cubase or nuendo after the extremely disappointing version 6 release (it appears the concerns over fender buying presonus are looking pretty legit). Im thinking cubase, but did want to know more about nuendo.
Indeed… Gomez Addams! If you’re hoping to do post production or music for video you can’t go wrong with nuendo… if it’s purely music production you’d be good with Cubase for sure!
I jumped from Studio One to Nuendo (also currently jumping from Pro Tools as well) and if you are involved with Post, sound design for film/TV or game audio, it's totally worth it. If your focus is music, then Cubase will serve you well.
I was afraid because I thought Nuendo was an entirely different product, when it is simply Cubase on absolute steroids. I wanna be ready for *anything,* so I'm getting Nuendo!
I'm using Nuendo for 4 years now. It's much stable than Cubase which I have. I don't why but is solved a lot problem when I switch to Nuendo. 🤔So, Yes Nuendo all the way!
I’m noticing things being more stable… but that could be instruments I just updated… or the recent .50 update… who knows! But I’m loving Nuendo for sure…
@@jefgibbons The first time I opened it, I found the software much more faster than Cubase. Don't forget, Cubase is the benchtest for Nuendo. Reason why Steinberg updates Cubase first. Another topic. Reason 12 is it a good value? I'm using 11 now but the upgrade isn't that cheap. Great Channel btw.
HINT: If you are in Music Production only - then you don´t need Nuendo!! Nuendo updates come less frequently! and are often twice as expensive as cubase updates !!! Nuendo is a tool for Post Pro, ADR, surround sound, filed recorder workflows, e.g.
That isn't true since a few years anymore. Nuendo receives updates as freqently as Cubase. I'm a Nuendo user and I'm receiving updates almost every year. In this Sale you can update Nuendo for the same price as a standard Cubase update.. less than $100. I'm into music creation and I've never felt any disadvantages. I just have WAY more features at hand, also for sound design.
...it would be amazing if nuendo could time stretch the video with the audio just like ableton can....its great for adding remix audio to the original video...regards
Would this be somewhat the work around to digital performer 11's chunks feature? Ive read people who write music scores for film love this feature in dp11 because they can write various sequences to multiple cues within the entire film project.
I can hear him fine - FYI - this was a response to somebody who said they couldn't hear Jef and who has now edited his post ... making mine look like I'm a weirdo ;-)
@@jefgibbons He deleted his post lol - I can't see a need to upgrade to Nuendo but I did buy the Izotope Music Production suite. Every tutorial I see for it seems to push Pro tools and, as a champion of Cubase, I'm wondering if you have Izotope MPS and whether it is something you would consider making a video of?
Mostly because I started a UA-cam channel and at the time Nuendo was almost one upgrade cycle behind Cubase... made way more sense to go that route for that time so I could show the current new features to a MUCH larger audience.
The issue that proper Nuendo tutorials are rare compared to protools, which is not good, I feel lost in Nuendo and I recently bought it, it's difficult to learn
Nuendo it's way more easier to learn than PT, at least regarding common tasks. The problem is that Steinberg has to hire someone that actually can take care of that awful GUI, than once upon a time was excellent, and to rearrange all the tools and options placement, they're all over the place. Been jumping professional on audio post between Nuendo and PT, one thing Avid does right is that on every introduction of new features, their placement and accessibility seems way more logical. Now, if you compare features, PT is not even close to Nuendo.
Hey jeff where do find a lot of your used gear like synths tape to tapes etc…? Is it all online or are there places to check out in our area. I live in bothell WA, i know that store in bellingham.
Nice! I love your state so much… most of the gear is craigslist, I’m not buying much these days, but I would just check every single day and stay tuned to what stuff is going for.
Oh for some reason i thought you were a washingtonian. Sorry about that. Now that im thinking about it, i remember you having canook accent so i bet your from BC if you are taking a day drive to bellingham. I love BC. It is the most beautiful place place i have ever been to. Thank you for the info. Keep making the content and ill keep watching. Your Maschine tutorials are flawless. The best step by step tutorials i have seen for music production. It is unmatched by far. Keep it up 👍

Will do!
Nuendo 12 is just awesome. Got mine in the Sale as well. Goodbye Protools!

Nuendo and Cubase are amazing♥️ Great video btw!
Thanks so much! I agree…
The markers and that voice designer would be awesome additions to Cubase..! Steinberg, PLEASE!!
Gomez Addams!! My friends and I also had a late Halloween party yesterday. So much fun!
Yeah! We had such a good time…

I'm a little over three weeks into the Movember 'stache myself this year and it went straight up toilet brush
Thanks for the video Jef! Does Nuendo come with Score editor?
Everything in Cubase plus the extras, so yeah!
I was afraid because I thought Nuendo was an entirely different product, when it is simply Cubase on absolute steroids. I wanna be ready for *anything,* so I'm getting Nuendo!
Great walkthrough!
Thanks! Always appreciate your support Sekrit Skworl!
Adams Family!
Nailed it!

Can you do an in depth tutorial on doing ADR?
Hello Jef, can you do a Cubase/nuendo video for monitoring 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Hardware (on a budget) , interfaces, monitor controller etc. Thanks :)

@Jim Block same I use nuendo Mainly for music production and dolby-atmos music as of right now.
I'm still getting Nuendo. It just works nicely for just about everything. I can make music *and* sounds with it.
@@jimblock898 Is both cubase and nuendo has same interface, courses online are mostl for cubease than nuendo
Mind sharing your audio Post template?
...it would be amazing if nuendo could time stretch the video with the audio just like ableton can....its great for adding remix audio to the original video...regards
Can you explain why there is no VCA mute in Nuendo?
just grab Nuendo for the sale price. Needed another Cubase license to cover all my computers, but this will do just fine.
Indeed! Just copy over your key commands and you’ll be good to go!
Does Nuendo work with iZotope RX...rx connect window?

of course it’s Adams Family….but you could do a wonderful Burt Reynolds 🎉 btw…another great video 👍
Oh yeah… next year!!

That’s it! Sums us up…
When you have Nuendo, is there any reason to come back to Cubase? Isn't it same for Nuendo when writing music?
100%… there was a long period where Nuendo was way behind Cubase in terms of new feature updates so I just switched…
I can hear him fine - FYI - this was a response to somebody who said they couldn't hear Jef and who has now edited his post ... making mine look like I'm a weirdo ;-)

Wish someone would have used that intelligibility feature on the dialogue in Tenet 😂
I had the subtitles on for it!!!
Hi Jef, thanks for your tutorial, from 1 month have upgrated to Nuendo 12 it's very cool and from few days is disponibility new update
