i've just bought a fuji x-t10 and this lense as my first camera and this has made me that more exited waiting to get it! beautiful photos, thanks for the great review!
I bought mine on sale earlier this year. I’m very happy with it. Nice range. Very light. Very sharp. Terrific travel lens. Not the end of the world if it gets damaged or stolen. I use it on my X-T1 and the results are very nice. The power zoom is a little annoying and imprecise but other than that I’m happy.
I have this kit lens with my XT-30II and I enjoy using it, it’s so light weight and I take it with me everywhere. I’m a beginner in photography so I’m learning with this lens before I buy another one
@@Noah0510 I like it as a light weight wide angle lens. It’s not the best for video because when you zoom you hear the motors. It’s a cheap lens with auto focus that’ll be great to add in your collection. I transitioned to shooting with vintage manual lenses on my Fujifilm camera 📷.
@@jordanwilliams1546 Thanks for the answer. I think on starting with the XT 30 II too. Can you use the 15-45 also for portraits? Or what would you start with retrospectively?😄 Thank you so much
I got the same 2 months ago..im so regreting.. The quality of photos are terrible..my phone makes better . I just dont know what to do with my purchase
I got my camera with the 16-50mm. Quickly dumped it for a set of primes. Then I looked at the specs of the 15-45 and decided to give it a try. I took some surprisingly pleasing (at lest to me...) pictures. Whow. Now it is "glued" to my XT20. It is my "never leave home without" kit, complemented with a XC 50-230 (another underrated lens). With small, light bag I can cover 15 to 230mm: I love that feeling.
Hi Jacopo! I hear you because I feel the same about this lens. It doesn't look like much but it sure can deliver. The small size matters very much, too. Kind regards!
Thanks for your in-depth and informative review. I just got this lens as a kit lens with Fuji X-S10 and really love it. It’s portable fit in my small camera bag easy to use friendly for beginners photographer. I would like to call this as one lens to fit in all situation and can use it to take many great photos but one thing I don’t like is no focal length indicator show in the camera only W and T slide I won’t know the current focal length of the photo I’d take and need to check in exif for this info.(except at 15 and 45mm)
Thank you for your comments. Indeed, this is a nice all purpose lens. I fully agree with you that a focal length indicator would be very nice and would make this lens even better. What makes it very difficult to add to the current design is the fact that the lens is driven by the motor.
The manual focus ring can be configured to work as zoom (when manual focus is not in use). You just have to switch the AF+MF off. Then the manual focus ring will mimic a normal zoom. I say mimic because it is by no means smooth and precise as a manual zoom, but is much more intuitive to use and provide better fine tuning than the "back and forth" ring. I use the main for a quick move and the second for fine tuning.
Hello again. I wrote my comments on this lens in your video comparing the three Fujifilm zoom lenses prior to seeing this one. Again, your video reflects my view. Every time I consider other the other Fuji zooms, I just can't see the benefit changing to the others. At first, I was disappointed I didn't see the focal length as I zoomed. It bothered me. But honestly, I got over that. All I really needed to know was low end, full zoom, and somewhere in between to crop in or out, and the screen shows me that. Photography is all about light, composition and using my feet appropriately. In most cases, knowing the exact focal length is irrelevant. I can see the focal length in Lightroom , if I'm interested. Another nice feature is its 52mm filter size. It matches my 35 1.4 filter size, so I carry one polarizer and one ND filter for both. Minor, but efficient. One reason I switched from my Nikon DSLR to Fuji (X100T several years back, and later the X-T30) was camera and lens size, and weight. I didn't want to carry my Nikon gear due to their bulk and weight. Fuji solved this problem for me.
Hi Scott! Thank you for your comments. I feel the same about the 15-45 mm lens. What a wonderful lens for traveling. My biggest concern continues to be the motor. If it didn't have that I'd be perfect. But it's not very far from perfect as it stands. I too see myself use the widest angle, the telephoto end and then something right in between the two. I use the motor as little as I can and everything is fine. Interesting that I also started with Nikon, just like you. Fujifilm works the best for me now. Best of luck to you!
Thank you. I watched a couple of other videos before coming to yours, and only now do I understand the zoom and how it works. Very nice photos, by the way - especially the ones of your holiday in the north of Poland.
your photos are outstanding 🤩 i'm on a low bugdet and orderd myself this lense. Can't wait to try it out... i love taking landscapes but as a mom i also like to capture shots of my kids... looking forward to my Photojourney❤
Hi! Congratulations on getting this great lens. I'm confident that you'll like it. It's got very good sharpness and the lens itself is so small. It'll work very well for photographing kids and landscapes. Best of luck to you!
Hi! I’ve lived in Poland for a long time, and it had all started in Gdansk. While trying to figure out which camera/lens to get and researching really hard, it’s been amazing to see all of it while enjoying the Northern Poland scenery. Thanks Tomek!
Hi Can! Thank you so much for you positive feedback. I've also been to Gdansk and it was absolutely beautiful. Good luck to you with your photography and kind regards!
Thank you for your comment. Indeed, at first glance the size and weight of the lens may make one suspicious. However it's precisely the size and weight that make the lens so great and usable.
I got the the XC 15-45 mm f/3.5-5.6 with my first Fujifilm camera, the X-T200 and used this lens for 2 years. The IQ was actually very good, at f/8 you get corner to corner sharp images at any focal length, and you can also focus the lens from like 13 cm from your subject at the wide end. The lens was also very light and small when not in use, so perfect for travel and hiking. Well, the only real issue I had with this lens was the zoom ring, that tend to stick at cold temperatures (winter). I actually did not quite like the power zoom, it felt slow for stills photography. Now, would I buy this lens again? I would probably not, as the used market is full of much more advanced lenses. Don't take me wrong, optically it was nice, but I just got too spoiled with XF lenses with 5 stops OIS, linear motor focusing, 0.1 seconds AF, WR, dedicated aperture rings and so on. If you want/need a compact zoom lens, I would recommend the XF 18-55mm f/2,8-4 R LM OIS instead.
Hi Philip! Thank you very much for your feedback. I agree that the XC 15-45 is a great lens but its power zoom is not the best solution. I use my XC 15-45 a lot, and this is despite the fact that I have two copies of XF 18-55 and several primes as well. The small size of the XC 15-45 is wonderful. Kind regards!
This lens can take amazing images. Have this paired with my wife's X-T10 and she got some really good images on our recent trip. Like you, I'm not a fan of the PZ function and also that I don't know exactly what focal length I'm on. It takes such good photos and you can't beat it for the price.
Hi Tom! Claudio here, from Canada! Thanks for bringing so many relevant pieces of information regarding this lens along with this video. I'm about to purchase my X-T5 camera and choosing the lenses has been a pleasant task along the way! Kind regards
H Claudio! Thank you very much! Indeed, the X-T5 is an amazing camera. It often comes with the XF 18-55 mm lens as a kit but there are many great options for it. The good thing about Fuji lenses is that they are all very good. Best of luck to you with your new camera!
Thank you so very much,@@tom_photo! Interesting to notice, during my research, that Fuji also has many incredible third party lenses. Right now, my lens of choice is the Viltrox 13mm f1.4, since my major motivation for purchasing the X-T5 is to photograph the northern lights in Canada's Northwestern Territories.
@@claudiogondo3175 Hi Claudio! Absolutely, this lens should work very well for northern lights. This is going to be an exciting project. I've thought about doing the same as we also have them over here (not as grand as in Canada, though). Kind regards!
Most under rated lens in the lineup. Despite owning a few of the Fujicron primes, this is the one I usually grab for daytime street shooting on my X-E2, & cheap as dirt Ta Boot‼️
Thx - I' looking at one for around 120 € now. Tempting as I only have the (very good 18-55) on my X-Pro1. But I miss the wider 24mm ff equiv. , and this goes even a tiny bit wider.
This lens isn't fully compatible with your X-T10. Not all older cameras had a firmware update to support it fully. If you upgraded to, say, the X-T20 then you would get full compatibility. On the X-T20 (and all fully supported cameras), when your camera is set to autofocus S or C mode, the front, narrower, ring acts as a manual zoom ring giving you more fine control than the larger power zoom ring. In manual focus mode, the narrower front ring reverts to being the manual focus ring.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Indeed, there are small things that are not perfect with X-T10 when using this lens. Most notably how much the lens motor moves when you press "replay" or how well it remembers it's focal length after turning the camera off and back on. Also the single focus mode may behave a little bit as continuous focus. This all depends on what software version you are running for the body and what version for the lens. With the newest versions I find that the small problems you may encounter do not affect the photo quality at all, just the user experience.
Agreed with all you said. Bought this some time ago and just recently started to use. Now my go to for travel. Oh and thanks for reminding me about the stabilizer.
I got a used one for cheap and yes very sharp except at maximum 45mm a bit soft, still like it for 15 to 35 i guess.. I am getting a used 35mm F1.4 classic for street anyway. The 15-45 good to carry for wide shots as needed
Hi Ed! As far as I'm concerned these two are some of the best Fuji lenses. The 15-45mm is extremely versatile and small and the XF 35mm F/1.4 is a true classic, as you also mentioned. Cheers!
Hi, thanks for the great review. If you can't tell what focal length the lens is zoomed too before taking a shot (which I presume it the case), can you take a shot and then review it to find out the focal? Maybe that would be possible on some bodies and not others? Cheers again :)
Hi! Thank you very much for asking. After taking a photo press the Playback button, followed by the DSIP/BACK button. This will take you to the summary screen. Most Fuji cameras will have a couple of these screens - you can toggle back and forth between them by pressing the 4-way pad or the joystick (depending on your camera model). Kind regards!
Thank you for the fair review of this little jewel. It is a pretty ideal lens for travellers. BTW, north of Poland looks fantastic!!! May I have the location name plz?
Hi CHANNEL ViE. Thank you very much, indeed. Most of the pictures have been taken in or near Slowinski National Park, Poland. It's a very beautiful region. Kind regards!
Hi der Jack! Thank you, this is very true. Aspherical lenses do this correction, indeed. But they are not absolutely perfect at that. I've revisited this topic: ua-cam.com/video/wZq3SfQi3Xs/v-deo.html . Kind regards!
Not sure if you mentioned it, but the focus ring can be set to control zoom, maning it much nicer to use. I’d wish they’d make it a mechanically collapsible zoom though (not motorized) like the collapsible ones from Nikon, Canon, Panasonic or Olympus.
Hi Torb! Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the topic of focus ring has come up in the comments. Thank you for making this point because it's a very relevant one. And I agree with you about collapsible zoom, too. Kind regards!
Tho not applicable to manual focusing, if you turn off the AF+MF setting in the menu, the focus ring will act *somewhat like*a manual zoom. I love this little lens for it's small size, light weight and versatility. I have 2 of them that are nearly fixed to my xt-20 & xe-2 as well as for ultralightweight carry w the xt-3, esp in combination w an XC 50-230
I have bought a new one and the only thing I have a issue with is relatively big barrel distortion at wide-end(15mm).. I know it can be corrected in post process but I do wish that resulting jpegs do not have these artifacts(at least on my x-e4).
Hi Stefan! Yes, the distortion is definitely there. The 15 mm is already so wide that you have to choose between distortion and field of view. You cannot get both very easily because correcting for the distortion will reduce the field of view. People expect to see distortions in wide angle shots and are usually fine with it not being entirely realistic. Kind regards!
I prefer the 16-50 3.5. OIS. Probably because I don't have yours. It doesn't have the odd issues yours does, though. I think your graph on edge distance was great and It's about time. It would be interesring to position 3 people across the frame at the same distance to the sensor and try some 5.6 shots.
Thanks for your notes. I think the 16-50 mm is another great lens. It's larger and some say that a bit softer. However I don't know if the differences are noticeable. I've owned both and I actually like them both. The 16-50 mm is fully manual (no motor) and it's a good thing, as you also indicated. I think I like the handling of 16-50 mm more but the size and portability of the 15-45 more. And yes, I'd also like to experiment more with the "center sharpness" of the lens in my future videos.
@@sclogse1 Yes, the 16-50 mm has auto focus but it has no zoom motor, is what I meant. Sorry for not being clear. I think the 16-50 mm is a very nice lens but a slight bit less sharp than the 15-45 mm. I used them in parallel for a while and I liked the handling of the 16-50 mm better but the image quality of the 15-45 better. Both are nice, though.
I'm not sure you're right on distance to focus plane. The spherical and aspherical lens elements should make so everything on the same line has the same focus. Nice review and pictures, I really like have you edit the photos.
Hi Roy! Thank you for your feedback. You are right in that the differences between the corner and center sharpness are very small because of the corrections. In reality, the corrections are never perfect, though. The focal plane is never perfectly fat. However with modern aspherical lenses it is quite close to being flat. I've revisited this topic here: ua-cam.com/video/wZq3SfQi3Xs/v-deo.html . Kind regards!
Hello Tom... I have bought a FUJIFILM XT30 II with XC15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS PZ kit lens for Streetphotography and daily shooting purpose. But unable to take sharp photos. Need your guidance 🙏
Hi! Thank you for asking. I've posted a video on how to take sharper photos ( ua-cam.com/video/SSHza669aBw/v-deo.htmlsi=u7X3x67zaBevCYTW ). However you seem to have a technical issue. Could you give me a specific example where the photo was not sharp? I could then help you better. It could be anything from focusing issues to image stabilization problems. Do you have the camera on automatic focusing? Kind regards!
Tom, I recently purchased the Fuji 15-45mm lens. I’m using it on my Fuji TX20 camera. I’m unable to get the lens out of priority mode. I would like to shoot using aperture priority at the various f stops. Can you suggest any steps/camera adjustments I can make?
Hi! I'm happy to help you. Would you please clarify what you mean by "priority mode". Have you recently upgraded camera firmware ( ua-cam.com/video/okUvkMMWKOU/v-deo.html )? While I wait for your answers let me try to help you anyway. Please turn the AF mode button to "S" and the mode dial on top to "S". Make sure that the aperture/shutter speed dial is set at "A". Go to "menu" -> "AF" -> "AF Mode" -> "single point". Kind regards!
For some reason the latest firmware update made my lens to not follow my commands, sometimes they do zoom in/out and sometimes they don't. The front ring also zooms in the lenses but they start switching up the F values.
Hi Yeetis! Thank you for this valuable information. The latest update for this lens just came out and I've not yet had a chance to do the update yet. I'll let you know if I find anything unusual. Has anyone else seen this behavior? What camera are you using? Is your camera running the latest firmware? Kind regards!
@@tom_photo My camera is a XT1 and it has the latest firmware aswell, it used to work fine until I did the update. I have reported it to fuji's support email hoping for an answer. I haven't seen anyone else report this issue so far, it could be due to it being so recent or a personal issue of my own, but I would stay away from the update just in case.
@@yeetis4527 Hi! Yes, this is good advice. Thanks for reporting it to Fuji. If something went wrong they will hopefully very soon post a fix. Kind regards!
Great review 🥺 But can you help me to choose between XC 15-45mm and XC 35mmf2 ? Which one is better for newbie ? I just want to take random moments, mostly traveling shots and sometimes streets. The body is XT20
Hi bobacawfee! Thank you very much for your question. It's difficult to recommend gear to someone else but since you say you're only getting started with photography I'd say the XC 15-45 mm is probably a better choice. Best of luck to you!
I agree, I cant believe the sharpness, I was planning to get rid of it, then I took it with one occassion and when I saw the result it change my decision.😀 Im keeping who gives a shit if this is an El Cheapo lens, it gets the job done both photo and video.
Hi L Benz! I agree with you. If it does such an amazing job who cares that it is all plastic and uses a motor to change focal length. It's the end result that matters. Best of luck to you with this lens!
Hi I just got a camera with an XC lens but realized it doesn’t have what focal length you’re using. Is there a way I can find fhst out when shooting ? I’m new to Fuji. Also since there is no aperture ring, what is an easy way to access aperature ?
Hi! Thank you for your feedback. The Fuji XC 15-45mm lens doesn’t display the exact focal length on the lens itself, but you can check it in two ways: On the Camera Screen, when you half-press the shutter button, your camera should show the focal length on the screen or viewfinder. In Playback Mode, after taking a photo, review it in playback mode. Since XC lenses don’t have an aperture ring, you can control the aperture through the camera’s command dial in Aperture Priority or Manual Mode. Best of luck to you!
Hi! Thank you for asking. The autofocus of this lens is among the more quiet ones. Still I would not use it wit your camera's built-in microphone. It's best to use an external microphone whenever possible. You just gave me a good idea; I should make a video where I measure the loudness of autofocus for Fuji lenses. Kind regards!
hello. I'm thinking about purchasing this lens and screw on a fisheye filter on top of it for some creative shots. When i point the camera down, will a relatively heavy filter drag the ring down? like is it rigid enough that my filter won't weigh it down and change the focus?
Hi sup! This is a good question. Since it is a light weight lens that extends with a motor I could see that extremely heavy additions could affect it a little bit. Could you send me a link to the filter that you're getting so that I could give you a bit better answer? Kind regards!
Good review and points. Question: what is the setting you use for IS Mode in the body menu? Continuous or shooting only ? I guess shooting only would save battery life at the expense of perhaps missing a shot. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your question. My typical IS setting is continuous. I turn on my camera only for taking a picture and then turn it off, so continuous is not a problem when it comes to battery life. I often use this lens for video (in fact this is my favorite bright light video lens) and there continuous is also a good idea. I hope this helped you.
@@tom_photo Thank for the feedback. I just picked up the 15-45 lens locally this week. Guy on the local forsale boards had it listed for just a bit under USD$100 including a filter and a 3rd party lens hood. 😀 I thought it was a steal ..... I have an X-T1 and X-E4. The lens behaves differently and the info displayed in the viewfinder are different between the two bodies. The X-T1 being older doesn't fully support the 15-45mm. I don't get a zoom "bar" on the XT1, while I do on the XE4. And the zoom function is jerky on the XT1, especially in lower light. In bright sunlight, it seems to zoom smoothly. And on the XE4, the zoom is always smooth -- probably due to the better processor and sensor all around. Rgds ....
@@masashiro I also find that different lenses behave differently on different bodies. For example on my X-T10 this lens moves around a lot when I press the replay button but much less so on my X-T30. With the XF 35 mm prime lens the single focus tends to be more like continuous focus on X-T10. I could give more examples. What helps, though, and what I really recommend is keeping the software up to date. This applies to both the body software and also the lens software. You can download these from the Fujifilm website.
Hi Diego! Thank you for this question. The zoom can only only be controlled by turning the lens. This will start the motor which will then change the zoom. Kind regards!
Thanks for the review, I just got a x-s10 with this lens kit, I am thinking to get another lens for landscape shooting in different occasions. I am thinking of xf18-55mm and xf55-200mm, which one do you recommend considering I have already got 15-45mm or do you have any other suggestions. TIA
Hi Zeyu! Thank you for asking. The X-S10 is a really nice camera and the 15-45 goes very well with it. So, congratulations! What other lenses to get will depend largely on your shooting style. Getting an XF 18-55 and 55-200 is a good idea. Where one ends the other one starts. I have reviewed many Fuji lenses on my channel and an overview of these Fuji lenses is here: ua-cam.com/video/ndCrbW5VZ4Y/v-deo.html . But let me think what I'd miss if I only had the 15-45. I'd maybe get the XF 55-200 and XF 35 mm prime lens (or the newer and more expensive XF 33 mm). I hope this helped you a bit. Kind regards!
Hello sir... I'm from India and bought XT30 II with the XC15-45 MM kit lens. Sir which lens would be ideal for Streetphotography and daily shooting purpose ? Need your advise Sir 🙏... I'm a Pharmacologist by profession and having very little knowledge about cameras and lenses... please help me out.
Hi Joyjeet Paul! Thank you for asking. The X-T10 II is a wonderful camera. I'm certain you are going to like it. It came with the XC 15-45mm lens and I'm quite confident that it will be a very good choice for street photography. I don't think you need any additional lenses for casual every day photography. The one you have is perfect. Kind regards!
Hi Carlo! Thanks for asking. In terms of low light capabilities this lens is a very typical kit lens. For low light you'll want to use a tripod with it. It's sharpness is superb and the lens itself is tiny, this makes it very suitable for street photography. More than anything the lens is ideal for traveling and casual shooting. Good luck to you!
Hi! Thank you for asking. This is not an easy question to answer, though! The zoom lens is more practical and more affordable. On the other hand the prime is a bit sharper and has better low light capabilities. But you cannot go wrong with either lens, they are both really nice. Kind regards!
Yes exactly, why does this even have motor. If it would be operaterd manually it would be perfect zoom. Or at least if Fuji bodies had stepping zoom function through common focal lengths.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, you can always attach a hood to any lens, one way or another. However, this one does not come with a hood and does not have a dedicated hood or a special attachment for a hood.
@@WVMUSIC_NL Thank you. I'm very curious how you do it or what kind of lens hood you are attaching? Is it possible you are using the lens filter attachment, instead? Are you attaching the hood as if it was a filter? I think this can be done, indeed.
Thank you for this comment. Indeed, it is possible to attach a hood using the filter thread. The lens does not take the conventional type of hoods that attach on the outside of the lens.
The bug example is incorrect. There is the so called focal plane. Objects in front and behind will be out of focus but objects on this focal plane will be in focus, no matter if the one object is more to the side of the image circle. So this distance explanation for object on the same focal plane is incorrect.
Hi hellomyphone! Thank you for your valuable comment. The answer depends a bit. The field of focus of a simple single lens element is always curved (much less so in aspherical lenses). In modern camera lenses there are usually other corrective components that try to correct for the field curvature (e.i. they make the focal plane more flat). To what extent this is done depends largely on the particular lens (and it can vary from one extreme to the other). Even when the corrections are done they are not equally successful at every distance from the subject. Another way to solve this problem for a single component lens is to use a curved sensor, but this is a complicated solution. But thanks for this comment. I'll make sure to talk about it in more detail in my future videos and also talk more about the fact that modern lenses use optical solutions to deal with this issue. My example represented one extreme, I agree, that you often don't see to a very large degree.
Neither weight or metal has ANYTHING to do with quality!! IF so any CN lens would be best quality and a lot of first party plastic ones would be very bad.
Hi der Jack! You are correct. It's just that higher quality lenses are usually associated with less plastic. This particular lens is very interesting. Such a great and capable lens but it doesn't look and feel like a very high quality lens (even though it is). Kind regards!

Hi David! Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the video. Greetings!
your photos are outstanding 🤩 i'm on a low bugdet and orderd myself this lense.
Beautiful shots of Gdańsk and Malbork's Castle! Just bought this lens and like it a lot - even it is not ideal!
Hi Adam! Thank you very much for watching. Enjoy your new lens!
Great lens, like you I sold my first one, then realised what a great lens it was and bought it again. I use it on my XE3 and have a 16-80 on my XT4
Hi Norman! Thank you for your feedback. Good to hear that we are feeling exactly the same about this great lens. Kind regards!
i also used XT10 with the older 16-50 kit lens, i love it too
Hi James! Thanks a lot for sharing. The 16-50 used to be my XT10 lens as well. Kind regards!
Aw I just got a Fujifilm camera with its kit lense and ALSO going to Poland this month
Hi! This sounds excellent. I think you'll have a fun time with your camera and this great lens. Enjoy!
Most under rated lens in the lineup. Despite owning a few of the Fujicron primes, this is the one I usually grab for daytime street shooting on my X-E2, & cheap as dirt Ta Boot‼️
Hi raymeedc! I really agree with you. I've also discovered that this is all I need for streets in normal conditions. Kind regards!
Thx - I' looking at one for around 120 € now. Tempting as I only have the (very good 18-55) on my X-Pro1. But I miss the wider 24mm ff equiv. , and this goes even a tiny bit wider.
Hi Lars! I recommend this lens quite certainly. You'll like both the sharpness and the wide angle. Kind regards!
Very accurate and fair review. Great little lens with sharp shots. Thanks again!
Hi Trev Mac! Thank you. Yes this lens is very nice. It's quite a bit better than it's given credit for. Cheers!
hello tom , i liked your explaination abt this tiny lens in very crisp way.thanks !
Hi rahulk! I'm very glad I could help you. Kind regards!
I have the lens and its a useful addition to my kit bag it is my widest lens also.......
Hi Antony! Thank you for feedback. Same here - it is my widest lens as well. It's an all around great performer lens. Kind regards!
Just a correction: both the rings on the lens are zoom rings. There is no aperture ring on it. You will have to use the dial.
Hi! Sure, absolutely. Thank you very much for watching.
Agreed with all you said. Bought this some time ago and just recently started to use. Now my go to for travel. Oh and thanks for reminding me about the stabilizer.
Hi E.J. Kelly! Thank you so much. Indeed, this is a perfect travel lens. Kind regards!
I bought this lens and waiting on it and a used X-T10. Thanks!
Hi Tre' Harris! This sounds like a very good decision. This lens will be great with X-T10. Kind regards!
Cheers!
I think it was the kit lenses for one of my Fuji cams. XC stands for extra cheap? Actually it works just fine
Hi! Indeed, it work really well. Thank you very much for watching!
You convinced me to take it with on my next trip!
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad I could help you.
@@tom_photo thanks again for sharing this beauty. Hopefully we can travel again soon.

This is called field curvature.
A lens MUST correct that! This is essential and only very bad produced ones do not account on that.
Hi der Jack! Thank you, this is very true. Aspherical lenses do this correction, indeed. But they are not absolutely perfect at that. I've revisited this topic: ua-cam.com/video/wZq3SfQi3Xs/v-deo.html . Kind regards!
My preferite lens: it's incredible.
Hi MrChanakkale! I fully agree with you. This lens is wonderful. Thank you very much for watching.
I have 2 of them that are nearly fixed to my xt-20 & xe-2 as well as for ultralightweight carry w the xt-3, esp in combination w an
XC 50-230
Hi Ken! Thanks for this idea. I'll try it. Kind regards!
@@tom_photo No, the 16-50 3.5 is auto focus.
Good stuff. Just picked this up for my xt3.
How are you calculating the best over F stop?
Thank you! I'm showing how I calculate lens sweet spot in this video: ua-cam.com/video/OQyJQFDmWh0/v-deo.html
Great video, mate! Congratulations.
Hi Marcelo! Thank you for your kind comments.
Hi, thanks for the video. Which camera did you use for the example pictures?
Hi Milan! I used Fujifilm X-T10.
@@tom_photo okayy i'll try XC 15-45 , thanks you☺️
I agree, I cant believe the sharpness, I was planning to get rid of it, then I took it with one occassion and when I saw the result it change my decision.😀 Im keeping who gives a shit if this is an El Cheapo lens, it gets the job done both photo and video.
@@tom_photo thank you so much for replying. This is really helpful! Much appreciated
@@d8nya1 You're very welcome!
Does the autofocus sound disturbing during record video? Thanks
Nice pics
Hi! Thanks so much. Kind regards!
Great review
Hi Nick! Thank you so much for watching.
Hi, is it possible To control the zoom from the camera body and non from the Lens ?thanks

Your photos quality are fine? Mine is not sharp and dark and very bad quality! In both ways Maual or auto.
Hello, good video. How would you rate this lens for low light or night street photography?
@@tom_photo Thanks!
Xc 35mm f2 or 15-45 ? Which is good?
Hi! Thank you for asking. This is not an easy question to answer, though! The zoom lens is more practical and more affordable. On the other hand the prime is a bit sharper and has better low light capabilities. But you cannot go wrong with either lens, they are both really nice. Kind regards!
2,7 stops are guaranteed with this lens (tested elsewhere). Also set af/mf in menu.
Hi Midnight Mozes! Thank you very much for watching. Kind regards!
Great video, thank you.
Hi! Thank you for watching and thank you for your kind words.
Yes exactly, why does this even have motor. If it would be operaterd manually it would be perfect zoom. Or at least if Fuji bodies had stepping zoom function through common focal lengths.
Hi! Yes I agree. But for some reason putting the motor in there was easier than leaving it out :). Cheers!
You can put a hood on the lens for sure
Thank you for your comment. Yes, you can always attach a hood to any lens, one way or another. However, this one does not come with a hood and does not have a dedicated hood or a special attachment for a hood.
@@tom_photo but I have this lens and I can place a hood on it
@@WVMUSIC_NL Thank you. I'm very curious how you do it or what kind of lens hood you are attaching? Is it possible you are using the lens filter attachment, instead? Are you attaching the hood as if it was a filter? I think this can be done, indeed.
@@tom_photo yes just screwing it on with metal lenshoods or rubber ones/plastic ones
@@WVMUSIC_NL All is clear now. Thank you for sharing this info.
This lens does take a hood using the 52mm filter thread??.
Thank you for this comment. Indeed, it is possible to attach a hood using the filter thread. The lens does not take the conventional type of hoods that attach on the outside of the lens.
nice bideo
Hi Mizhan! Thank you so much!
