Great job. When you get close to the mangroves you to catch live bait try to stay along a mangrove that all the floor is sand all of it left for your engines up and go n Chum for a bit. Has to be current. Ballyhoos there are so many here south Florida you could anchor in any place and they will be behind your boat within half an hour with Chum and then cast net them. Ballyhoo much easier to find. You know guys if you don't have live bait your 50% pretty much out of the game but there's always luck. sometimes I take my jet skis and I go slow with an that along with the Pelicans are diving and it's full of Mentos and herring but you got to go take it easy because of the Night hits the floor you're out of gas this is very shallow water. Like offshore the birds will show you where the live bait is

To catch bait for our trips (not in Florida, and not Marine environments), we are on the water 2 hours prior to sunrise. We use our lights, while drifting to attract the baits. Then when we are ready to throw the net, we turn off the lights, after we have closed the net, we turn the lights back on. This greatly improves our catching ability. Just thought you may want to consider this on your next night time bait catching trip.

@@ReelHazardous Threadfin and Gizzard shad. There are certain times of the year when the surface temps are too hot during the day to be able to reach bait with a castnet, but they will readily come to an underwater fishing light, and even follow the boat.

@@ReelHazardous just seeing this. Yes, turn off the lights just before throwing your net!

I grew up in keys and the best quality sardines are at night over reef. You can castanet them though tip& trick here is to turn the lights off when you cast net otherwise they spook.
