He did things and was there to do what Anakin never did; when an attempt was made on her life Obi Wan threw himself out of a window and held on to find the assassin, he was with her when she gave birth and protected her son. He was the guy who wanted to love the girl but knew he couldn't have her. They would have been a much better couple.

And Obi-Wan being caught up in it like that would just make his guilt so much more dark & twisty and even explain why he kept his distance from Luke & Laya as it would have felt like a further betrayal of Anikan...

Anakin was the type of guy who creepily likes a girl and almost makes it scary for the girl not to like him back. It felt as though she felt like she needed to love him back in fear of him hurting himself or others. Obi wan would have been a much better match for her. And if padma and obi wan where together and that drove Anakin to the dark side that would have been a really cool story line

I have a theory that could work in the movie universe. Leia is actually obi wans kid, before you yell her me out. So supposedly Vader thought the twins died. So your telling me that leia was just chilling with Vader that whole time and he didn't feel anything, but the moment he is within 10 feet of Luke for like 1 minutes and he knows something is up with this boy. And both leia and Luke have the force So it isn't because leia didn't have the force So Vader didn't know. And obi wan looked almost sad when padame said anakin was the supposed father. You may say that he was sad do to anakin braking the rules. But he does care for anakin he would be disappointed in anakin but end up helping padame with the children if all else fails. Like he did when he took the twins into hiding. And in the 3rd prequel why was obi wan in the house, I may be missing something because I haven't whatched the movie in a while. And padame wanted to go and save obi wan even against anakins wishes. If she didn't care she would have stayed were it was safe. I won't bother you any further with this theory. I'm just saying the possibilitys are endless.
