Honestly, I have heard a couple of people complain that Marlin is just a grouchy stick in the mud who loses patience with Dory in this movie, but I disagree. He only really snapped at Dory the one time....after they were chased by the squid...and he was scared because Nemo was in danger so he snapped at her and he immediately regretted it. The dynamic of Marlin's character is much different in this film compared to Finding Nemo. In the first film, Nemo was already gone when Marlin and Dory journeyed across the ocean and his focus for the entire journey was on finding his son so he wouldn't break his promise. In this movie, he does promise Dory that he will help her find her family, but the difference is, they don't actually LOSE Dory until they get to California and in this movie, Marlin essentially finds himself responsible for taking care of two children....Nemo who is really a child, and the forgetful Dory...who I feel like he sees as something akin to a child. So naturally he IS going to be a bit more serious, because he is the adult in the situation.
@Isabella LaRocca_24 when little boys grow up, our voices get deeper. So deep, even voice recognition software can't tell it's the same person. It sucks, but it would also be weird if a tiny clownfish suddenly started sounding like a grown man.
The part where Dory mishears "hands" as "Hans" always gets to me. The city I live in has a relatively large aquarium (we're on the coast, so it makes sense.). In the large main display aquarium was a sand tiger shark named Hans. So many people in this city feel like they've grown up with Hans. He's like a mascot for the locals. Lots of us got to know him really well. Or, as well as you can get to know a shark without being on the menu. I know a lot of the locals my age who felt like they grew up with Hans were excited to introduce their own children to him. Hans taught them that sharks aren't the scary kill-crazy monsters most folks think they are, they are complex, beautiful, and worthy of respect and protection. I know I was looking forward to my own son learning that lesson largely through Hans. Unfortunately in 2015 there was an accident in some of the exhibits and a great number of the animals died. Hans was the most well-known and recognizable of the animals lost. He was 25, and expected to have many more years before him. His death hit this city hard. He's still missed and remembered fondly, but often with a tear stinging the back of your eye. My son and his cousins love Finding Dory, so I've seen it several times, and every. single. time. Dory's line of "no, not Hans, I'm looking for Hank," hits me hard. I know it's there! I just seem to forget about it until she says it. And then I feel a little like I was hit in the gut. Over a shark, y'all. A pretty menacing looking shark. A menacing looking shark that's been dead 2 years now. Nevertheless it gets to me. It's amazing how connected you can feel to animals that aren't even pets. Animals that have no idea who you are, animals you've never touched. They can still make some room for themselves in your heart.
My dad has never been one to get visibly emotional at much of anything. We went to see this movie in the theatre, and when Dory found her parents again, he was _sobbing._
Man as someone with mental issues Finding Dory really hit close to home for me. I have ADHD and I forget things a lot, and my brain will fabricate memories despite them never happening. It really hits me home to realize I'll be like Dory one day: not even realizing I've forgotten my own family! Thank you for the great video on the movie!!
3:17 no mention that Idris Elba voiced the bigger sea lion? Sounded like him when I saw it, checked it and sure enough it was him. Idris Elda is always a win!
@@AndorRadnai I bet the decision came down to the individual dubbing studio responsible. Though it is nice of Disney that they allowed it, I suppose. Credit goes to Katrin Fröhlich (Voice directress)
animating Hank was like animating 6 characters all at once whilst keeping his movements convincing and "natural". i pity and worship the people who worked on Hank
You missed a win. Marlin's impatience with Dory is a little justified, her hyperactiveness nearly got Nemo eaten. Parents are never exactly fond of people who put their kids in danger.
I liked this movie. The "living with disabilities" themes hit me even harder with this one (probably because I'm an adult now, so I catch nuances better, also possibly since I'm autistic, so Dory's more mental/social disability was something I could relate to on a more personal level) and I found the message encouraging and empowering (though I agree, Gerald's treatment made me kind of uncomfortable). I was also intrigued by how they filmed the moment where Dory thinks her parents are dead, and everything gets hazy and unreal. I experienced a (brief) derealization episode once, and it felt very much like that scene. They did a good portraying it, in my opinion. The pacing in the beginning of the movie was a bit odd. It felt kind of disjointed and rushed before they made it to the aquarium. But once it got going I was able to invest in it just fine. Definitely would like to buy it eventually :)
finding dory really dealt with disability great! id absolutely love to see more pixar movies about disability (especially a hoh/deaf disability) we're such an underrepresented and often times abused group of people (i cant tell you how many times ive been hit, thrown things at, called names, bullied, and mocked) theres really no HOH representation in the media, especially in animated movies geared toward kids, with a very common disability :(( it sure as hell wouldve helped a lot growing up
My fav little bit of trivia is the fact that: Blue Tangs are near impossible to breed in captivity. Every Tang in the colony from the movie was likely captured and rehabilitated from a reef, for a combination of study and preservation. Dory should, by all rights, not exist. And being born in captivity was likely the cause of her STML in the first place. Not being born under the proper conditions left her with a “birth defect” in a sense. She was a miracle baby. And thats awesome. Along with the great message, the writers for the movie tied in a realistic factual issue with conservation efforts in a very subtle way for part of Dory’s backstory.
Surprised you didn't mention how the fish go under the water to breathe when talking to the sea lions. One of the most impressive parts, in my opinion.
Brione Star Wars A New Hope: Everything except for a few cheesy lines is great. The Empire Strikes Back: EVERYTHING is great, it's a flawless movie. Return of the Jedi: Not as good as the others, the fact that the ewoks defeated the Empire's best troops is just ridiculous, Boba Fett died in a really stupid way, Luke's plan to save Han could have been better, and a Second Death Star with an even bigger opening to destroy it? Seriously? But still it is a very good movie with some great action and the last act where the Emperor and Vader are trying to seduce Luke to the dark side has some of the best scenes in the entire trilogy.
Finding your missing buddy when your the only two people on a practically empty planet with no beneficial technology and could be literally anywhere and in any direction. oh yeah thats a sin.
Everything Great About The Special Editions. He made impressive defenses for the prequels, and there's certainly potential here. Honestly the amount of biased hate for the special editions is absurd, there's only really a handful of bad changes.
I saw Finding Dory in theatres and I have *never* had a moviewatching experience like it. Now, I think Pixar movies are pretty great, and most of them get an A or A- from me just because their plot + beauty is so awesome. I liked Finding Nemo just fine, but Toy Story and Monsters Inc. are far more special to me. Still, I trusted Pixar to make the story in Finding Dory worth the telling, and I wasn't expecting anything from this movie except to enjoy it and have a good time. Instead, I was a blubbering mess for Every. Single. Flashback. Seriously, as soon as Tiny Dory (TM) showed up, and her parents were so loving and supportive and were so willing to do whatever it took to work with her special needs, I lost it. And not just weeping. Straight-up bawling, to where I was worried I would annoy the people around me. It didn't let up for the whole movie. Every time we went back to Tiny Dory (TM) I started crying. It was a strange, visceral reaction I couldn't control. Like I said, I've never had a moviewatching experience like it, and I'm still not really sure why it affected me so profoundly. But I'm glad they made it. And I'm glad CinemaWins is here.
The one part of this movie I'm surprised wasn't a win was the transition from the natural breath taking beauty of the Australian waters while once in America, it has a more gritty and realistic depiction of polluted waters. That scene made me fall in love with the movie instantly due to its more subtle messages hidden throughout. (even if the ending is crashing a truck into the water aka more pollution, but that's besides the point)

I have a terrible memory so when i get upset because i cant remember much of my much wanted childhood i feel that i kind of understand what its like to not remember. I feel terrible for people who have dementia and amnesia and all. This is why finding dory is my fave pixar movie......next to inside out.
Hank the ceptopus (sorry I don't know how to spell that but you get the idea) was a truly amazing feat of animation from Disney/Pixar. I am always thoroughly amazed at it every time I watch this movie. But let's not forget about Dory. I absolutely love baby Dory. She's so freaking adorable I can't get over it. She's even cuter than Nemo, if that's even possible. Great movie and even greater animation work from the studio. The realistic light, water and movement of the creatures involved are incredible and I think will definitely stand the test of time. Just an all around great movie. One of my favorites. "What do we do when we see the undertow?" "We say let's go!!!" "I like sand, sand is squishy."

So, I watched this movie. For the first time. On a plane. I concerned a number of people because I was GROSS SOBBING When Dory found her family. I'm talking, I had to pause the movie and just cry, I was so happy for her. The flight attendant asked if I was ok and offered me water. Its a good memory :)
wolfman571 Thank you! Whenever someone asks why they are making a sequel/prequel, I always respond with, "Why not?", and get strange looks thrown my way in response. Unless it's for a movie I didn't like, I will ALWAYS at least try to see a sequel/prequel to see how they expand the universe. It's useful for making headcanons, since they sometimes give stuff that either support or refute them
I guess what people means is the previous movie ended on a perfect note that there’s no need for a sequel but that’s stupid. There’s always many possibilities in a sequel, expanding characters, world, themes etc and as you said, no movie is necessary because every movie at the end of the day is made for money.
What many people got wrong about Finding Dory is that Destiny the whale shark is NOT a whale. Whale sharks are actually the biggest fish in the ocean, the biggest recorded being 12.65m long (not quite as long as the longest fish, an oarfish) and weighing about 19,000 kg when fully grown.
I saw this film in the cinema and loved it. When a film constantly makes you smile I think you know you enjoyed it. Loved how positive this video is! Please can you do a similar video on Coraline xx
I love how in these videos you comment on and give credit to technical stuff like rendering, textures, animation and attention to detail. It's an often overlooked part of a lot of films.
Another effective thing of having a baby Dory that is fifty percent eyes is you get to see the stars of the night sky reflected in them when she's at the surface further increasing adorability. "Holy carp there is another way." Fish puns. "Water. I need water." Glad they took notice of how long Dory's been out of the water at this point.
Fun Fact: The guy voicing Becky, is the same guy singing in ''No Mercy'', the song everyone knows from the meme ''I wanna be tracer, Im already tracer''
Finally. Took me forever but I finally got around to seeing this movie. And boy is it amazing. I can kind of feel for Marlin at some points because as helpful and perfect as Dory is you need a moment to focus on your son. Only a moment and he loses all sympathy for yelling at Dory but still. Also I just cant seem to picture getting mad at Dory for forgetting things, though I do love how shes able to detail her entire adventure with Marlin, its like both these little adventures of hers got her memory actually working again. Maybe her Joy managed to fix the memory shelves or something.
I love the fact that you almost always point out technical elements, as a theatre techie myself, it's great to see the lighting and other great elements pointed out that would normally not be noticed,
I'm really glad this movie was so good! and dory reuniting with her parents i actually didn't see coming and it caught me so off guard that i started crying! also Win 69: seriously what was that guy doing!
I like Dory because she's optimistic, She could easily mope around, Be angry all the time, or a hateful character, and blame her disability. I know people with disabilities that do this so it's refreshing to see her so optimistic despite a easy scape goat.
Finding Dory was a treat to sit through, even though I was sobbing big time during certain moments next to family members of mine. BTW, need to rewatch this again if only to actually stick around for the post-credits stuff I missed (damn you, full bladder).
You should do Cars and Bugs Life. Also I've been avoiding your videos for awhile because I was worried they'd be poorly made or something, now I've watched almost all of your videos and I can't wait for more. I think the thing I like the most is your end summary or whatever, It's probably my favorite part. :3 please continue making great videos and thank you for making them.
Its just "says pointless thing about movie that doesnt tie in to anything moviewise" and they count it as a sin. Yeah can be funny but... you're basically a review channel cinema sins, admit it

I really like that ending. Bullying sucks. Don't do it. And if it's being done to you, ask for help and get it to stop, but don't bully back.
0:25 Anakin Skywalker: NO!!!!!!!!
VampireLord65 XD
I love how in these videos you comment on and give credit to technical stuff like rendering, textures, animation and attention to detail. It's an often overlooked part of a lot of films.
Everything great about alien 3 and alien resurrection!
There's gotta be something.
Have you seen the jungle book? The cgi is so freaking amazing!!
*actually cries when baby Dory says she has short term "remebory" loss*
Fun Fact: The guy voicing Becky, is the same guy singing in ''No Mercy'', the song everyone knows from the meme ''I wanna be tracer, Im already tracer''
Garbiel brown aka black gryphon
That sneezing fish predicted the future 😂😂😂😂😂
Hank is now one of my favorite Pixar characters
He missed the picture of Darla at 2:46 !! Shout out to my mom actually for finding that one :)
I love the fact that you almost always point out technical elements, as a theatre techie myself, it's great to see the lighting and other great elements pointed out that would normally not be noticed,
Do an everything great about cinema sins :D
then cinema sins will reply that with everything wrong with cinema wins
thats my dream vid from them both
I will honestly never understand why this film gets so much hate from some people. It's a masterpiece.
Heisenberg Some people just refuse to enjoy a good fun movie these days.
Everything great about the fellowship of the ring
Emily Jung ikr

Everything Great About Monsters Inc?
In the French Canadian version, the intercom voice... actor is the same as Dory's, making it extra funny when she declares recognizing it.
Am I the only one who like's Finding Dory more then Finding Nemo 🦀🦑🐙🦐🐠🐟🐡🐬🦈🐳🐋
I don't like it more than Finding Nemo, but I do appreciate it more than most people.
I'm really glad this movie was so good!

*TREES MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY, SO WE SAY LET IT GROW*
Anybody else like the Pixar sequels more then the originals? My favorite Pixar movie is...
Cars 2!
Dude I hated cars 2 but only because of the whole spy plot, wish it would've focused on the racing 100%
1:00 the way she says "I'm sorry" hurts me
Everything GREAT About Inside Out!!!
The Iron Giant. One of the greatest animated movies of all time. gonna have a hell of a win count
everything great about KUBO
Fun fact this is one of only two movies that can make me cry
Dude!
You have to do Kubo and The Two Strings next!!!
well
have i got good news for you
I like Dory because she's optimistic, She could easily mope around, Be angry all the time, or a hateful character, and blame her disability. I know people with disabilities that do this so it's refreshing to see her so optimistic despite a easy scape goat.
Is it just me or does this channel deserve a bunch more subscribers?
Happy New Year man, you've finally given me something to look forward to on Sunday. Been looking to fill that hole since The Sparanos ended
do everything great about daredevil (2003) and The Dark Knight Trilogy.
OOOOOOOOOOOh, that sounds nice! I didn't think of Daredevil.
Everything GREAT about Mortal Kombat (1995). And goddamn it, the opening 40 seconds alone deserve at least 5 wins!
Oh Ellen Ellen Ellen....
You had to nearly tarnish your reputation by putting on that facade on your show and then be a oblivious to your crew.
"They can't POSSIBLY beat the cuteness and likeability of Ellen Degeneres' Dory, can you?"
'Hi! I'm Dory!'
"Nevermind."
do the angry birds movie. That would be a challenge.
I liked that one.
T H E F L Y yes it would be
Matthew Batson
1. I liked it too but there were so many "sins"
2. I turned 18 today. 😊
+THEFLY 1. Adult life ftw.
2. Happy Birthday.
OPINION ALERT:
I liked the movie...
Cute hugging otters are ALWAYS a win!
6:28 finding Dory literally foreshadowed the whole year of 2020
Finding Dory was a treat to sit through, even though I was sobbing big time during certain moments next to family members of mine.
BTW, need to rewatch this again if only to actually stick around for the post-credits stuff I missed (damn you, full bladder).
Everything Great about The Transformers: The Movie (1986).
4:07
It’s squidward just make him say “can you keep it down I’m trying to be boring”.
Jurassic world! Please
THATS WHY I LIKED HANK IMMEDIATELY, his eyes reminded me of Richard's (from Looking For Group) or whatever their name is now.
You should make a guardians of the galaxy one
You should do Cars and Bugs Life.
Also I've been avoiding your videos for awhile because I was worried they'd be poorly made or something, now I've watched almost all of your videos and I can't wait for more. I think the thing I like the most is your end summary or whatever, It's probably my favorite part. :3 please continue making great videos and thank you for making them.
Hey...I don't remember you but let's go on an adventure k?
Fiaura The Tank Girl Count me in... (You don't remember me because we never met before)
How could you not give a win to the animators for making the coloring on Dory's dad look like a bald spot?
Anybody else subscribed to CinemaWins and not CinemaSins?
I like cinema wins for his positivity
Yh cinemasins can be funny at times
The negativity kinda ruins my mood at times....
I unsubscribed from Sins years ago and never looked back.
Its just "says pointless thing about movie that doesnt tie in to anything moviewise" and they count it as a sin. Yeah can be funny but... you're basically a review channel cinema sins, admit it
Yep. I like positivity. Especially if my favorite movies are on here.
1:07 Didn’t expect it so early? Marlin’s wife and kids were eaten alive in the first movie.
Make everything great about monsters University
Man, I LOVED Hank in this film. And the water animation definitely deserved a win :)
