    Awwwww Yah so Sad...I worked at Poplar Creek Music Theater Summers: '87-'93 and I did work Backstage Hospitality at the Stevie Ray Vaughn Show w/Stray Cats opening July 29th 1989 For the Double Trouble Tour...Talked to him a Few times Not to Long but in the Short time I did talk to him...he was a Very Kool/Down to Earth Guy..So Sad when I heard of his Passing..it was like Almost One Year when he played the Creek and I Talked to him Briefly...I remember the Entire Staff at the Next Show we Worked..we all couldn't believe it.

    The super glide wasn’t there at the time of the crash. I was one of 5 people who were told to stand in a circle to guard that helicopter that night..it was extremely foggy..I left before SRV got on it because I had to be at my other job in east troy in 3 hours..I just couldn’t believe what I heard the next morning

    I was walking around the area where the helicopters were sitting. It was winter out so it was dark out aside from the lights illuminating from the ski hill. I walked up closer to behind the theater to have a look around. All of a sudden I smelled a strong oder of cologne. There was no one else anywhere near me that night. I'm pretty sure I encountered SRVs ghost

    This is the site. If you watch news footage. Also, I lived right there and went many times. I always complained that they never put up anything for it to commemorate him. Still sad it’s just a ski slope.

    Hello ! I just saw your photo today on SRV death date.. I am the one who put the bronze plaque up on a ski pole for SRV the year after he died. I live close to Alpine Valley... I have always wondered if the plaque is still up because it has been yrs. since my husband and I walked up the hill and nailed it to a ski pole.... now it it kind of hard for me with some back problems. Not sure where you are looking in the picture, but the crash happened on the smaller hill if you are facing the main ski hill and it is too the left. It was a maintenance rd. back then? but maybe now it is a 2nd smaller ski slope? Thinking of going there again with our son who is younger LOL! and have him walk up and see if the plaque is still there? Never saw the picture of the plaque online till today! I got chills down my spine when I saw it as I am a huge SRV fan and had a blues band for yrs playing his music...

    Bizarre...i never realised how LOW the terrain was ...its a small hill barely off the ground!!! How the hell did the pilot crash 🤔😕 Looks like he'd be barely off the ground so you'd know not to swing heavy away IN FOG in case there were obstacles!!
    Omfgg...seeing this makes it seem even sadder...the pilot mustve swung almost immediately...loon!! In any aircraft inc coptors...ur priority is a clean clear lift up as high as u are permitted to avoid ground obstacles...
    Thanks for the upload...🤟🏼
    I watched it a couple of times out of sheer surprise at the lack of height...wen i heard it was a ski resort an the pilot banked into a slope i expected almost a small mountain, that they had at least gained SOME decent height...not a frickin HILL....omg 🙄😔

    • @zakkoslo6456
      @zakkoslo6456 2 роки тому +1

      I feel like this is not a great representation. It would be better if he had taken video from where the concerts are held, looking up toward the hill. He is standing on top of a hill, looking towards the top of a slightly larger hill, making it appear like the elevation is much lower than it is. The music venue at Alpine valley is about 300 feet (vertically) below the top of that hill, making a blind takeoff hazardous in poor conditions to a pilot who is negligent or unfamiliar with the area. I fly over the hill often, and use it as a landmark for spotting the airport on the way into town, so it is very distinguishable from the local terrain in the area. Either way, sad and avoidable.

    I remember when he was killed I was so sad even though I was young. Just in my early teenage years back then and had learned myself to play guitar on a old used fender strat we found at a pawn shop . I saw him on tv once and then came across him from going to the record stores when that was still a thing. Listened to his stuff most of my life now. Man its been 30 years. Geez, the music he left us is unmatched but the music he didn't get to make is what gets me. Hendrix too. I've always wondered why the good die young and assholes live long lives. But then again the greats live many lifetimes. Pass it on. Rest In Peace Stevie

      Hi. Yes the plaque is still there. I am the person who put the plaque up . I felt bad that they had nothing there so my friend and I went there and nailed it on a ski pole. If you face the big ski hill it is to the left of that on a smaller hill which back then was just used for maintenance I think. About half way up and on the left... Now I think it is for snowboarding. Haven't been back there and up the hill in yrs. so this summer think we will have to go back and take a look, if my back allows it , LOL! .. So glad no one took it down after all these yrs..

    • @joshlate7077
      @joshlate7077 3 роки тому

      @@sixstringer649 Yea I figured that's where the spot is since it was described as the back side of the ski hill but from the main ski run the Lodge if you are looking out the dinning room window of the resort it was told to me the spot was more than half way up the Mohawk ski run. How did you know the approximate spot? Is that one correct?

    • @sixstringer649
      @sixstringer649 3 роки тому +1

      Well i am hoping it was about there because a lodge worker happened to be riding around in his little truck the day we went up there and we asked him where the crash site was and he told us it was about there where we put it. I looked at the photos of the crash site on youtube and it kind of lined up with the photos. They had said it crashed into the side of the hill next to the big one so that would be around that area from the description of the crash site I guess , and what the worker guy told us.. That was about as much of a guess as we could get from what he told us.. I do remember them saying the helicopter crash site was surrounded by Queen Anne's lace flowers growing along side the road, and there were lots of those where we put the plaque..

    • @joshlate7077
      @joshlate7077 3 роки тому

      @@sixstringer649 Yea sounds like the spot I think that flower is indigenous to the northwest region. I know the area that was said was along the side of the mohawk run. A lot has changed and they keep expanding the hill and now they designed a bike trail along the ski area for riders in the spring and summer months. I'd love to get back up there sometime this year too.

    • @sixstringer649
      @sixstringer649 3 роки тому +1

      Yes when the crash happened I don't think they even had a snowboarding hill back then. It was like the maintenance road then , and from the pictures it looks like they widened that to become a snowboarding hill. The Mohawk most likely. So this is what I am trying to figure out by looking at the photos of the snowboarders. If you are coming "down" that hill would the ski pole that I put the plaque on be on your right side and off the hill a bit on the rt. side of it? I really need to go back there again LOL! Just have some back issues so don't think I can climb that hill anymore. but I can make our son do it LOL!

      I always thought, "What kind of pilot would not know the terrain he was flying in? What kind of pilot would not take a helicopter STRAIGHT UP for at least a few hundred feet if he even thought there might be a 200 foot hill (or tower or tree or building or whatever) nearby? Toxicology tests would have been informative. But of course, none of that will bring Stevie back...

Haven't walked up the hill now for yrs because of back problems, but think this yr we will go back and have our son walk up the hill for us. Someone who works there told me it is still there! so that is good!
