  • In this video, I do a rough clean up of a moss agate found on a recent outing.
    I took a few extra safety squints for good measure.
    Imaginary creatures were badly harmed in the filming of this episode for no good reason.
    Bigfoot came by for coffee & brought a blackberry danish, but unfortunately the footage got deleted. ;)

    Thank you for a great demonstration of your technique. That little blade has a huge advantage over other grinding methods. It looks like you can get very detailed and can customize your stone. Very cool! Take care 💕

    Oh David that is a beauty. I love when you can see the clear chalcedony windows into the rock for a "sneak peek." I also like how the top forms a design around the rock like it's framing what lies beneath. Just don't harm the unicorns. I love 🦄. You can take down everything else. 🥰

    What beauty is being revealed in that stone! I was enthralled the whole time. After you tumble it, could we get a before and after video? I think that would be a great finish for this study.

    Yea, those Moss Agates break, and chip different from other agates. They "block" off. I also have found this season what I believe are Moss Jaspers. They too have very straight edges, and you're right if there's a fracture it's virtually invisible. Truly dense mineral.

    That's shaping up very nicely and after the tumbler? Wow!
    BTW, I'm hoping you were using a face shield and definitely a respirator! Silicate = silicosis= bad.

    Could you have used a water drip along with this? Seems like a lot of dust to be breathing in. Thanks for video!

      I work outside mostly, but I do use a water drip when I'm working inside. The dust blows away pretty well outside.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    What kind of wheel u useing

    • @DavidBriggsAdventures
      @DavidBriggsAdventures  2 роки тому

      I use a plain old commercially available diamond cutting wheel. I have a bit of a practiced hand so I make it look much easier than it is. Much of the time my pressure on the stone could be measured in grams of force over pounds per square inch.

      That's all anyone has to do to have a chance at winning giveaways on my channel. I show what's being given away. I let the contest run, then pick a random winner with a comment picker.
