This is one of the most iconic levels from any Hitman game IMO. Everything about it, the location, the atmosphere, the grim AF premise (very reminiscent of "The Most Dangerous Game", probably intentional), all the ways you can tamper with the environment to create distractions, even that intense music that came on when you got busted by the guards
(Jesper Kyd's compositions are so underrated). Sometimes I'd blow my cover to have an excuse to hear it and attempt to blast the brains out of some tweed-wearing Cockney goons with a double barreled-shotgun before I got shot up myself. I don't think any mission in the series captures the essence of Hitman better than the Beldingford Manor, but then again I could be wrong seeing as I haven't played the games in years.
This level, along with "traditions of the trade" (both the original and the "contracts" remake) are without a doubt my favorite missions in any Hitman game and, probably, two of my favorite levels in any videogame.
That said...Beldingford Manor takes the cake by a long shot.
The atmosphere is dense in every angle...the amount of possibilities is immense...the overall "theme" is so real and brutal that..i just can't put it into words.
I was always terribly fascinated by manors/castles/mansions, especially if they housed the vague possibility of possessing hidden passages. Put it together with the overall setting reminding me of some of my favorite stories/themes like Sherlock Holmes' adventures "The hound of Baskerville" or "The solitary cyclist" and it really seems like this level was just made specifically for me.

Same. This came out I think around 2004 in the UK. I loved Hitman 2 and had no idea this was even being made, I remember buying it instantly and taking it home to play after work and being up all night. That Romania asylum mission really sets the tone. This game was dark as all hell.

I remember this mission being absolutely hard as balls. Fond memories of just walking forward and being caught immediately by the guards.

And to take guns and kill everyone was also really difficult because every god damn guards had a vicious shot gun that kills you easily...
When I was little I played this mission not realizing I had to rescue someone, took me forever to find out.

I really feel that Beldingford manor deserves some kind of prize or recognition for "best level in a game" or something like that. Replaying Hitman contracts one of many times in my life it's still amazing how a little bit of polish could make this into one of the greatest games ever. Atmosphere, music, the actually functioning 3ps/fps mix, and in such an old game.

This is one of the missions I always wanted (And tried) to get Silent Assassin on but never could figure out how to do it. Very impressive.

I feel you dude. have just been playing new hitman and alt+f4 that shit. the funny thing is that I couldn't remember the previous mission I was playing like an hour ago, but I still remember this level from hitman:contracts though I played it like 13 years ago
@@noTH9IK Yeah the older Hitman games will always be the best in my opinion as the new ones are lackluster and lack a lot of the things that made the older games better like for example: great atmosphere, excellent soundtrack & native voices for each location. I also do not like the story at all in the new Hitman games as it feels very James Bondy, which actually can be said for all of the new Hitman games tbh as the music sounds like James Bond and the story feels like James Bond as well which ruins it for me as Hitman was never like that in the past and it shouldn't be in my opinion. I also think a lot of the levels are way too big as well which puts me off them as I preferred the smaller but compact levels of the older Hitman games.

Thanks for this video! I'm really proud of how much of this mission I figured out on my own. This video is identical to the routine I developed, except that I didn't know about the wine cellar. For awhile I tried taking the gasoline can with me from the furnace room and dropping it down into the fireplace on my way from Winston to the hunter disguise (killing Alistair in the explosion), but after trying this for awhile I had conclusively proven that there was no way to do this without immediately blowing my cover somehow. I never tried to fiber wire Alistair because I didn't see any way to successfully hide the body. The only other way I could think to kill him was to poison his whiskey. I figured there must be some place the butler went to refill the carafe, but every time I tried to tail him I would get too close and for some reason proximity to me triggers him to immediately turn around and go back to Alistair. The butler has a fairly wide raidus of "that man is near, time to give the boss more booze" which I figure is a bug, and the patrolling guards complicate things also. Even in my longest run tailing him without disrupting him he never went toward the wine cellar. Eventually I gave up and just garroted the butler, hid his body in a stairwell, and tried to poison the carafe directly. But there was no way to do that. It didn't matter if I was holding it or it was on the ground at my feet, there was no way to poison it. That was when I gave up and looked up this walkthrough. Thanks!
Same here, I kept making fail attempts to poison his wine, it's annoying how the butler glitches like that.

Gotta leave some thanks for the routine here. I was trying to enter the manor house through the wine cellar from the hedge maze entrance and it just wasn't working. That's the awesome part with this series, almost infinite amount of ways to complete a mission.
I liked it, I used to clean the levels off enemies and stroll through it. The rain, the wind and the enviroment sounds were really nice
Have recently played Silent Assassin + Contracts + Blood Money after purchasing the HD collection. All games are truly masterpieces of the stealth genre. I can't believe they fucked so up with the infamous Absolution.
James Stenderson ¿why the fucked up?, ¿what about Hitman (2016)?.
Although Absolution was well-received by gamers in general, it was panned by the Hitman fanbase. The game was much more linear in its level design, focusing more on a boring storyline. Hitman 2016 was good though, returning more to the older games formula.
@@randomname5341 While yes they did kind of return to the old formula it still doesn't grab my attention and interest me as the older Hitman games did. I mean the atmosphere, soundtrack and voice acting is very lackluster and generic in my opinion in the new Hitman games, and while the levels are decent I am not a fan of how big a lot of them are as I preferred the more smaller but compact levels of the old Hitman games. I actually enjoyed playing Absolution over the new Hitman games as well as that still had a lot of the elements that the older Hitman games had like the atmosphere was spot on as well as the dark humor, and while the linear levels and story weren't as good as the older Hitman games I would be lying if I said I hated it as I don't and I had loads of fun with Absolution and have replayed it many times which is not something I can say for the new Hitman games.

I just bought all the old hitman games I played on the PS2 from a local game store I go to. Considering I have little memory of this game and was bad at video games as a kid these vids are very helpful
It just struck me that Giles Northcott (the guy you rescue) must be a tribute to Jesper Kyd, composer of Hitman OST's. Because he looks exactly like him.

I passed through showering lady twice during a mission while sneaking without changing water temperature. She freaked out twice, but didn't alarmed anyone. Still got Silent Assassin.

the soundtrack is so eerie! love it
I took out the second target by putting a gasoline tank in the pipe causing the fire where him and his chap sat drinking whiskey to explode. I also had to dome some damage control (Two civilians + one guard) after my disguise got compromised for some unbeknownst reason. So that summed up to four units of collateral damage giving me the rating of 'Executioner'.

Love the feel of this game, it’s unique I remember getting it in OG Xbox in 2004 or 2005.
This level... I will not gum bump nor sell the comment section short w. tales, but as a young whipper snapper this game, particularly this level caused my pickle to swell up to generous proportions, it was glorious

Every time I try to do the beginning part (on my ps2) where he literally just runs up the pathway to the door my cover is always blown. The two guys that are talking at the very beginning spot me every time
love the visuals and atmosphere in general
i love this mission couse its fun in many ways.....I always liked the way in hitman movie or in other stealth movies of getting in the house killing everyone with no alarms just by walking and sneaking and the guards outside just moving arround like everything its fine...
I'm not sure if this method works on pro difficulty but what I did was:
1. kill/strangle one of the guards at starting area and take disguise
2. run to barn and rescue subject and rigging the tv
3. climb ladder and get poison
4. play around with the door with shower woman in it until she faces you and resumes showering
5. proceed to casually walk past her
6. poison milk
7. grab hunter outfit
8. poison whisky
9. wait at escape point

Still got this game and Blood Money on Xbox Original! And my xbox still works, lol.
I got Silent Assassin in this mission. My approach was infiltrating in the mansion with no disguise or knocking anyone out, then steal the red costume, kill the old man while he was in the bathroom, shooting in the head the other guy that ordered whiskey, while putting to sleep the butler so he doesn't find out (oddly, the other bastard in the couch was so drunk he didn't give a fuck about his friend getting a shot between the eyebrows).
And finally, knocking the shit out of the boy in the barn, taking his key and running for my life after liberating the prisoner.

Best mission from Hitman Contracts, it's funny though how every mission in this 3rd game is come with rain and night setting. No rain in the last mission though. Is it because 47 was hallucinating maybe?
That's the thing about Hitman: you can do the missions in so many ways. I think if you limit yourself to do all the missions suit only SA you'll lower your degree of fun and curiosity in the gameplay. I for my part do not care about the SA ranking nor suit only - I just play it sensible stealthy and if my cover gets blown or someone sees something they shouldn't I exercise the damage control that is needed. I like to play how I would do if I was 47. ;-)

@@malgdrummer the whole premise of reliving missions through the wounds is such a cool concept. The atmosphere in conjunction with the eerie music does give it a horror vibe in certain aspects.

Same here. Uninstalled that shit after a day, re-installed contracts. Large reason is it is so...not hitman is because the same people who made Kane and Lynch made absolution. Also tries WAAAAAY too hard to be a new Splinter Cell game.

a lot of hate here for absolution, personally it was my favorite one but I do wish the kept the levels bigger like these ones & that they took out the pointless checkpoints, but I thought it was a good game still plenty of freedom to explore
