Hello MrMavincenz, thanks for précising. He might have done so on different occasions. I based myself on his book "Off the Record" and he does not mention the hihat at all. But he does play quarter notes with the foot hihat on "Rosalinda's Eyes", where he uses a similar brush/stick pattern.
Simple. Yet NOT easy. I’m doing the brush 8ths on my ‘other’ hand, just for the workout, and it takes real focus to get the brush at the correct angle with the correct motion on a consistent basis. But it allows freedom of movement with my ‘ride’ hand, to hit the occasional triangle - as well as the woodblock on the 3 of the second measure of this 2-measure pattern, beginning in the second verse (I’m doing it on the rim of the bass drum). It will take me weeks to get this steady at the correct tempo.
Very nice!
Awesome!
Great..!!!
Liberty De Vito explained in a video that he also used the hihat w/foot played every quarter note.

Nice! I should try it!
Boring song , for a normal drummer.,....
Yes, maybe, but don't forget most moneymaker songs have boring drumming ;-)
Perhaps, but even some of the craziest of drummers find it difficult to just play in the pocket.
Beautifull song! Wanderfull druuum!!
