It's interesting how Niko has arguably committed the worst crimes of any GTA character yet is also one of the most human and sympathetic ones. It's really hard to write and perform a character like that, but Rockstar and Michael Hollick really pulled it off.
I don't think selling people is worse or as bad as killing in general, which all protagnists have done. Also Trevors cannibalism and raping or Toni blowing up entire district killing thousands of innocent civilians is probably way worse.
@@Zygothdarkknight you have to realize that a lot of Niko's horrible actions aren't directly seen in game, he was in the Yugoslav wars and its hinted at all the time by Niko that not only did their enemies do a lot of bad things but they themselves did a lot of bad things to people that most likely never deserved it, the war was filled with MANY war crimes on both sides. He also was in the European criminal world and was a human trafficker all before we get to play as him in GTA 4 so he most definitely has done some pretty vile things in his lifetime
Nobody can ever convince me otherwise that this is the best GTA to ever exist. Since I was 11 I have played it 51 times completing it 49 times. Best story told in video games even beating the closely running Assassins Creed series.

Niko is my fav Protagonist from the GTA series. It's amazing how they were able to create the most serious and well written character and yet at the same time make him the most meme'd and memorable character from the comedic side too. The perfect Contrast
The game is a masterpiece. It’s Dan Houser’s love letter to New York City, still to this day the most detailed and nuanced title he wrote. It was their follow up to Sanandreas, the biggest selling PS2 game of all time. The military vehicles/aircraft and jetpack were hugely popular features but they dropped all of the wacky gimmicks and honestly they weren’t missed. The story was so well written and fits the feel of the city perfectly. To this day I’m yet to play a game with a world that feels as gritty, realistic and lived in. Including V. Don’t even get me started on the mechanics. The fact that they were able to create this less than 4 years after Sanandreas with the technology available between 2004 and 08 is nothing short of incredible. RDR2 was the closest they’ve come since but I don’t think they’ll ever be able to recreate anything on the level of GTA IV.
It would be dope to get a gta with protagonists like cops, firefighters, paramedics, etc. See how the establishment deals with its rotten core. Being a journalist also would be fine by me.

Just some thoughts on Bernie. He was in the same wars as Niko right? Went through the same training and experiences and trauma? My thought is that Bernie is probably a low key badass. You get hints of it when he does his serious voice. The difference is Bernie let it go. Hes not angry because it would destroy him so he lets dude beat him up at the park every day. He lets people thinks he just a fairy flower child. He doesnt want to slip back into a warriors mentality and ruin his own chance at being happy.

Bernie just choose to live his life without violence again because of his experience fighting in war. There are soldiers that choose to be pacifist after coming home because if they do fight they know they will hurt or kill someone because it’s a survival trait that doesn’t turn off. It’s the quote “a soldier above everyone else prays for peace”
I think given that Bernie's been through worse during his days in the war, those bullies hurting him in the park are just ant bites. Imagine if there was a DLC where Bernie's lover was killed and you get to play as him tracking down the killer. Holy shit
quality video, would love to see shorter versions for side characters. There's so many interesting small-time characters in IV too, GTA wiki is super informative.
If ya got time and some skill, take the wiki and turn that information into video and credit the person or entity that wrote the information lol. Seems easy, but I know the editing process is daunting, plus getting video sources and all that jazz.
During the scene where Roman is killed, when Niko picks up the gun to mag dump the assassin, you can see the emptiness in Niko’s eyes as the camera zooms in with every gunshot. Roman meant a lot to him.

This is literally the darkest GTA game with the darkest endings for the protagonist if you take look of the outcomes of the other GTA protagonists this one is by far the worst for our main character (besides Johnny i mean Rockstar literally just killed Johnny off with couple boot stomps 😂). No matter which ending you take it gets worse for Niko either he becomes a vengeful person with no luck in life or he becomes a depressed rich pragmatist thats just cold man.
Revenge ending isnt too bad you kill off Dimitri and well Niko definitely did care for Kate it doesn't sound like he was absolutely in love with her, all he really says is "I was supposed to protect her" doesn't sound like he lost the love of his life exactly, obviously none of the other girlfriends in the game care about him in the future Kate did but thats because its a video game, you cant build a years long sturdy relationship in a game that solely takes place in mid 2008
I let darko live because it’s harder to live with that shit and deal with the guilt of your actions than die and not have to suffer anymore from the consequences of your actions. Eventually they will die but not before suffering even more

As time passes I really feel like IV is getting it’s due respect as the “story-based” or “mob movie” paragon of the entire series. It’s a game that’s just a bit more fun to experience in the gaming format than it would be to just watch an entire film about the events. All in all, at it’s worst you’re doing a lot of driving, and at it’s best you’re experiencing a great tale of city crime and action.
For me, GTA IV & RDR2 are Rockstars apex achievements in entertainment media, rivaling films, TV series, books etc. In terns of story, narrative, emersive gameplay & story telling, acting & so on, the quality is still top tier. Also, GTA IV needs a remake (done properly)

GTA IV was the most dramatic of the series. Like an opera. Yeah it had it's hilarious moments but it was mostly driven by drama. Niko is the most tragic protagonist of all. the acting was so good in this that Michael Hollick alone shoulda won an Oscar for Best Voice Actor in a Video Game if such a catagory existed, he would deserved the award.
This was probably the most underrated GTA especially when it came out, I think people were expecting as many features as San Andreas or even more, but got less in a way, but I always loved this one I would rank it second after San Andreas personally

I really love the beginning of GTA IV when just starting out. Fresh off the boat and missions start out slow as roughing a few people up and car chases and even doing the taxi side missions. I really preferred that rather then going into things with guns blazing. Not saying I hate it cause GTA V has a really great story and is really fun too. All the GTA games are!

CJ too. He's straight up badass , dangerous and strong one man army. He killed a ton of people and caused a damage in 4 cities he went (Los Santos , San Fierro , Las Venturas and Liberty City). And yeah Niko and CJ are the best GTA protagonists.

I think what hurt GTA V the most was the lack of a compelling character or at least a satisfying story arch. GTA IV told a story with a side of social satire whereas GTA V was 90% social satire and %10 story. Social satire in and of itself isn't a bad thing (a lot GTA V's social satire is actually reality today) but with GTA I like to see flawed people overcome the odds whereas V's story just kind of ends and Franklin just jacks off in his condo until he dies.

I really love the beginning of GTA IV when just starting out. Fresh off the boat and missions start out slow as roughing a few people up and car chases and even doing the taxi side missions. I really preferred that rather then going into things with guns blazing. Not saying I hate it cause GTA V has a really great story and is really fun too. All the GTA games are!

CJ too. He's straight up badass , dangerous and strong one man army. He killed a ton of people and caused a damage in 4 cities he went (Los Santos , San Fierro , Las Venturas and Liberty City). And yeah Niko and CJ are the best GTA protagonists.
@X_Milky Maybe if CJ kinda has Thanophobic (Fear of dying) , He scared when anyone try to kill him but that's actually make sense because he was really young in GTA SA , And no one want to die young. BTW he's still badass and strong as he's an one man army killing machine and brave enough to do many insane things and risked himself such as broke into Area 69 alone then killed a ton of militaries , jumped from a plane to another plane to killed all bodyguards in that plane and many more. And you need to stop lmao , I see you debate about that in almost everywhere in this channel videos and some of that were actually rude debate.

I think what hurt GTA V the most was the lack of a compelling character or at least a satisfying story arch. GTA IV told a story with a side of social satire whereas GTA V was 90% social satire and %10 story. Social satire in and of itself isn't a bad thing (a lot GTA V's social satire is actually reality today) but with GTA I like to see flawed people overcome the odds whereas V's story just kind of ends and Franklin just jacks off in his condo until he dies.

What I love about GTA4 is how driving feels like. There are no indestructible vehicles.
And it feels... heavy? Like they have weight and some heft to them but are not clunky
Revenge is the canon ending to me. Everybody acts like themselves and doesn't act out of character
