I've been busting my ass on New York for weeks on end grinding for money, and getting better and better at it, and still not getting close to the leaderboard top
Am I the only one who thinks ivory tower should put the New York race in a summit? I think it could lead to some interesting rankings, and it would be a lot of fun.

It was a matter of time when they will change it. We all knew they will do it. Just not when. But! 80% of the Shortcuts give u Little to no time in NY ... 82% Shortcut gave you 1.15 - 1.30 better Time!
Watching motorsports has opened my eyes more to time difference, 1 second is a car's length between 2 cars 40 is basically a football field or 2 so that's a pretty big difference
Hey sid the "new" short cut in new york been there since the beginning. This was the cut I use to take before the infamous 82% went viral. I honestly don't see why they "patch" short cuts when it's already too many cuts to take. I wish they put my dream car the 2002 camaro z28 on here and put back the "flying nitrous" affect
this is so depressing, i discovered this shortcut on my own and ive done it since the first time i did new york. new york used to be my favorite track for money making so i truly mastered it. 2019 me would be outraged
I really like the fix. The 82% was a big run killer. The shortcut was just to rng for me. But it's sad that there is now a small 82% shortcut at ca. 83%... In general I don't like big or absurd shortcuts. I am only fine with small cuts which everybody can easily do.
@@GDO9099 Oh man, you don't know how much I've tried to like the game... there's a Official(?) discord server for TC2 and they got a whole spreadsheet of tuning for each and every possible cars in the game. I've played this game at release date up until the update where they first added the motorpass. I was there in the forums providing bugs and glitches that I found. Suggested few changes to handling but Idk where that went. The game still feels the same the day I left it. I Installed it recently cuz apparently they added the VMAX and I wanted to try it in the game. Tuning doesn't really do anything on how janky the arcade handling they have on the game. It has this weird arcadey handling that I just can't get used to no matter how long I've played the game. It was better in the beginning and a few "balances and fixes" later it all went to shit.
I understand them getting rid of the respawn short cuts I never used them anyway They should of left New York alone that sucks so bad and now there probably goin to patch more please tell them to remove the added check points for New York and leave it be Sid I just learned the damn short cuts
Yeeeah I was doing that new skip by default because landing off the larger jump became unreliable and I kept dying and sending me all the way to the top.
With the New York race I can understand putting in new check points, but what is up with them erasing your best time. I worked hard to get a 28 minute run an know it’s just gone that sucks
It’s also the fact that shortcuts mean faster money which means YOU DONT SPEND REAL MONEY. just more game companies grabbing at every way to the extra cents they can.
before i learned of the 82% shortcut i was actually doing that new shortcut at the new checkpoint and i thought i was a genius for finding that, now it's the new meta
I dont get why they do this now, i mean this game is short before dead. All sooner players had that advantage and all new players that buy the game now had this hard grind. My biggest problem with the crew is, why are the so less long races, they have this huge map and there are only one or two long races. Instead of adding new races with there seasons they only adding some bling bling and mostly boring cars in the hope new players buy it with real money. Get us more long races or kill the game and launch the crew 3! Sorry about my english, i'm from germany. Greetings.
Today 2 months later in New York race a lot of things have changed I used to know a big short cut that somewhere you can jump off a cliff and go from 70% to 80 and I would save me so much time but it got patched and I always thought the creator would do that because he wants us to actually do the race and not cheat
If they are removing shortcuts, then they should purge world records that use these shortcuts, because then it's not fair as you can't use the shortcuts anymore
I think apart of the fun of the crew 2 is the freedom you get, both in races and out. Removing these shortcuts just doesn't make sense if one of the crew 2s selling point is the freedom, it just goes against what they've esatblished.
So I found out a short cut at 12:28 if u keep going straight onto that road you want to grind on the left wall intill u see a river once u are above that do back on track and u are on the highway pointing in the right direction.
just run new York yesterday and noticed the change. I always assumed the hill jump shortcut was intentional, if anything due to having a suspiciously convenient exit hole to the side wall so as to take a turn right after the checkpoint. It is a pity they are patching it as I considered shortcuts like this as something that could help me hone my skills.
On one hand I understand them trying to patch shortcuts, but on the other I think it’s a fun part of the community and rewards players for their track knowledge?
reset back to roads with high risk factor some places is good. When you reset back to the closest road is bad. some shorts are good only to avoid traffic. Some cars will explode on the big jump but Buggatti only problem is when you bounce back from trees or land upside down and no way to stop the slide....
would be nice if they keep patching shortcuts, the least they can do is to increase the $ you get from these races. Bc nobody got time for them........to put in 30-40min then hit a wall and everybody passes you. The effort>reward ratio is pretty low in general. I guess we'll always have the chill Harley Davidson race to do
The rubber band bs is so annoying. I can go from two minutes ahead to dropped down to fifth after minor mistakes, like grazing a wall on a few sharp turns, or slamming into one side of a break in the guard wall
@@alvinalcasas888 Exactly which is why I stopped doing long HC races. I was only doing NY because it had the highest win rate due to the old shortcuts. Now I just log on do some Summit races/motorpass challenges and not worry about grinding for money. If I ever see a bundle I like, otherwise I hoard on the $ and let it sit there.
Kinda in my opinion if they wanna make a leaderboard without any shortcuts because they dont want to have them. They should make a leaderboard where people can play with completely no use of shortcuts and a leaderboard for people who wants to take shortcuts its maybe a hard system to implant into the game but it could be a problemsolver
Yes i agree i didn´t liked that shortcutting in tc1 too its an unfair advantage against all casual player if they do that in their Lobbies with friends who all knows the cuts then its ok but in pvp or summit its anoying af xxD Cheers
if people want short cuts here's my take on it. make it a feature. I got the game on the summer steam sale and the 1st race with the fiat sleeper race in LA. it took a short cut and my brain went right in to midnight club mode. I like the more outlandish short cuts they put in for jumps and stuff so why not do that and make it a challenge.
I don't have a problem with shortcuts, even those crazy ones, hell, I even began doing it myself. The only problem I see and which I really don't like it, is how a shortcut run gets no review and ends up in the leaderboard. That's not fair as to how the game's supposed to handle WRs. When it comes to PB or single player times, it's ok, you do it the way you want it, the game is yours and you have fun however you feel like it. Just when it comes to sharing and overcoming other people's times it begins to be unfair.
u know i don't like tha change, but what they shoulda done instead was make it a Risk=Reward for tha big shortcut where u can nail it on a jump without a Back on Track (respawn) glitch and make it to punish respawn abusers to reset them back to tha 82% mark instead!
19:50 ayo sid this me? lol anyways but yeah i really hate the squiggly roads especially up a mountain or something cuz sometimes theres a lot of trees and you cannot even skip them you are FORCED to take that road
Im a Gran turismo Player and i Raced a friend WHO Knows all the shortcuts but isnt able to Drive that good, that means Skill is better than shortcut without Driving good. I did IT 6minutes better than He did. Than i drove the same shortcuts He does and i drove 8 Minutes better than him so Skill is still better If you combine IT with everything Else.
This game is in a weird spot. I'm a car guy and gamer. I Played TC1 and loved it. Fucking cried on The Crew 2 trailer. Played the damn Alpha. Bought the best edition before it was even released. Played for a week, sometimes later, but it got boring so fast...
I never knew about this. A month ago, I was racing some chump in the New York Hypercar Race, and I would constantly see him go off the original highlighted paths and get ahead of me. Needless to say I was pissed because I believed he cheated and won. I didn't know about all these shortcuts until now.
When I notice the new check points I wasn’t surprised. I figured after the earlier patches I was pretty sure they were working on patching NY. I like the idea of resetting the leaderboard I had a respectable time before the patch and now I just have work on a new time. I got a 27:08 on my last run and I see some low 25’s on the board so I’m gonna just keep running until I feel like that’s as good as it’s gonna get. I may not get in the 24’s or 25’s but it’s fun trying to master the cuts. The only thing I didn’t like was the no traffic glitch mostly because I didn’t know how to do it so I thought that was a unfair advantage. Either way it’s still fun to play.
I see shortcuts the same as speed running essentially, you are using unintended features to be faster, I think shortcuts do take skill and are fine for grinding, but for any serious racing or any kind of multiplayer they shouldn’t be allowed.
Good on Ivory Tower for discouraging the kind of playstyle you encourage on your channel. Shortcuts off the track, intentional track resets, repeating one event ad nauseam.... that's not how the average player wants to enjoy games, and I'm glad the dev doesn't want their game to be played the way you play it. Where's your love of cars, your passion for moto and driving? Seems all you care about is how to game the system to get rich. I wish the tone of your channel would change. Update: Sid, I appreciate we got the chance to speak, and apologies again for generalizing. It was nice to have a gentlemens discussion follow from an anonymous youtube comment. I don't know what your future holds or what's important to you in life, but I hope you find a way forward that satisfies you. In the meanwhile, unsolicited advice, go ahead and stack money until you figure it out. If its accounting, or whatever you can do that pays well, go ahead and start it, start earning that money and invest it in yourself while you wrestle these existential conundrums into submission.
shortcuts takes skill a lot of times. i come from playing more of trackmania but there skill is almost equal to shortcuts, but i know its not that extreme in the crew 2 but i would argue its a bit of the same at least
Short cuts are fine, to a degree. I do think that when putting time on the leader board, it should not count the short cuts. Or, When the short cut may cut out a bit of longer road, like in NFS Heat on I think J Run..
So i was kinda new to summit and didn't know that once you reach platinum there's chance it might drop back to gold and do to my busy schedule don't have enough time to grind To me it should be fun playing the crew 2 Not exhausting That's just me guys Do you think summit is to much grind
I made platinum once. Once. Middle of the summit, and by the next day, id gotten kicked down to silver. Summit tiers shouldn't be relative to other players, instead just flat score levels.
I've already found two shortcuts on the highway that shave some good time. Don't think we'll see the same level of shortcuts as before but it'll be close
Im kinda dissapointed they removed the good old 82%. To me shortcuts are what makes open world games fun. Its what makes it different from not open world racing games like asseto corsa and F1. Also the big jump was the most fun part of the whole race? Maybe its just me but i love flying cars jumping from mountains like they are planes xD
I wish forza horizon did something like this game and add on motorcycles, the huge free roam is the only thing I like about this game. But the physics is what I don’t like.
Man, this shortcuts "over the hills" shouldn't exist on a first place, specially for hypercars or when someone hit a rock jump over it and proceed like nothing happen. OK, I understand that the crew 2 is the game but this shortcuts are just pure science fiction. About race wheel. I heard that many times that race wheel is OP. Well, ppl who say that clearly have no clue about how game engine handle inputs. Most OP handling in race game is using just a keyboard because output from the keyboards are only 0 and 1 so engine adjust that in to the output which is everything between these two numbers (something like: 0.5446) so, engine works a lot so the car will not go Left 90 degree when you press "A" button. How engine calculate that? Time in milliseconds the button was pressed * best racing line / speed (something similar), it is too deep to be explained in few sentences). Next hardware which getting help from the game is controller, and it is working on the same principle. Only thing what use the actual raw input from the player is the racing wheel. How I know that? Maybe you remember that I wanted to make some kind of racing game and during my research for what game engine is the best for that job I discovered how racing games actually work. Part of this is that about controlling a vehicle in the game. At the end, controllers are most shadowed OP hardware in games, on the other side if there is no "help" for players who play with controller they will not be able to hit anything (speaking about shooting games) or if game engine do not adjust every output from controller (something like: output from controller is 0.5 , needed output is 0.3, so real output will be 0.35) nobody will use controllers and in that line nobody will use Play Station etc. Perhaps you will say "You say this because you use racing wheel" well, I know that you have racing wheel too. Tell me, what is easier? For me, easiest of all is keyboard than controller than the racing wheel. I have tried already and I use racing wheel not because it is hard but just because I more like feeling when I play racing game.
Akor___ said Wheel is OP and use a clutch makes it op af u can drive with Drag cars like its streetcars i cant do that with controller or keyboard I guess u don´t undestand it well enough for dipdive into the control meta tc2´s 🙄
I mean tbh why should shortcuts even matter that much. If you generally like to race and a good driver then it should be no problem. Honestly shortcuts is basically just cheating

80% of the Shortcuts give u Little to no time in NY ... 82% Shortcut gave you 1.15 - 1.30 better Time!
Max 40 sec different
That’s a big difference though
Do you think there might be a technical limit to the number of checkpoints that can be added to any race?
Yesterday i done new york hypercar in 30:44 in Koeniggsegg one:1 without any shortcut
I really like the fix.
The 82% was a big run killer. The shortcut was just to rng for me. But it's sad that there is now a small 82% shortcut at ca. 83%...
In general I don't like big or absurd shortcuts. I am only fine with small cuts which everybody can easily do.
I’m fine with small shortcuts like cutting a corner or something like that, but jumping down a mountain is a bit too much in my opinion.
Ahh this is so sad, well at least now I wont have to worry about messing up when doing the shortcut because it is impossible now
The handling of the game still feels disgusting to me even after all this time D; I wish they'd update it or something
Look up tuning if you still play
This doesn't effect me all that much, i only take small corner cuts at most.
my legit time on NY HYPERCAR is 30 mins without shortcuts (except for one near the start)
Nothing like adding a rock to makes us drive for .800 of a second longer
In Fresno they got rid of the gas station and replaced it with a garage instead.
With the New York race I can understand putting in new check points, but what is up with them erasing your best time. I worked hard to get a 28 minute run an know it’s just gone that sucks
Even with it patched I replayed it and got an even better time than I did with the 82% shortcut
i love how he's talking about gran turismo players just like gran turismo players talk about simracers
Greetings.
Why haven’t the leaderboards change
Today 2 months later in New York race a lot of things have changed I used to know a big short cut that somewhere you can jump off a cliff and go from 70% to 80 and I would save me so much time but it got patched and I always thought the creator would do that because he wants us to actually do the race and not cheat
If they are removing shortcuts, then they should purge world records that use these shortcuts, because then it's not fair as you can't use the shortcuts anymore
If they wanna go this route they need to go all in fix all the short cuts and reset the leaderboard
I think apart of the fun of the crew 2 is the freedom you get, both in races and out. Removing these shortcuts just doesn't make sense if one of the crew 2s selling point is the freedom, it just goes against what they've esatblished.
I always found the red rock Harley Davison the best money grinding race
Didn't even know there was this many shortcuts in New York.
So I found out a short cut at 12:28 if u keep going straight onto that road you want to grind on the left wall intill u see a river once u are above that do back on track and u are on the highway pointing in the right direction.
I found this out like a year or a year and a half ago
what car are you using in the new york race
just run new York yesterday and noticed the change. I always assumed the hill jump shortcut was intentional, if anything due to having a suspiciously convenient exit hole to the side wall so as to take a turn right after the checkpoint. It is a pity they are patching it as I considered shortcuts like this as something that could help me hone my skills.
I like NY shortcuts, they generally help you shave time in the annoyign curve sections
These shortcuts are the main reasons why i love Forza Horizon way more then Crew 2 no exploits no shortcuts just pure racing
this race is to grind money. if you beat this in less than 30 minutes, shortcuts are really significant.
Memey shortcuts are in this games dna. It’s subtracting from its own personality.
On one hand I understand them trying to patch shortcuts, but on the other I think it’s a fun part of the community and rewards players for their track knowledge?
reset back to roads with high risk factor some places is good. When you reset back to the closest road is bad. some shorts are good only to avoid traffic.
Some cars will explode on the big jump but Buggatti only problem is when you bounce back from trees or land upside down and no way to stop the slide....
they should patch the no traffic glitch aswell as the short cuts nd rest the boards
would be nice if they keep patching shortcuts, the least they can do is to increase the $ you get from these races.
I liked. The 'times' from every single event, should be about skill and driving, and not about shortcuts.
Yeah but it's also really cool when people think out side the box and find shortcuts to make the fastest time possible.
Yes i agree i didn´t liked that shortcutting in tc1 too
its an unfair advantage against all casual player if they do that in their Lobbies with friends who all knows the cuts then its ok but in pvp or summit its anoying af
xxD Cheers
Yes is more about skill
What about not about luck with traffic
i use to grind the fuck out of new york wen there was only chiron an divo in the game
Ive been playing this game for years and I’ve never heard of these short cuts😭
if people want short cuts here's my take on it. make it a feature. I got the game on the summer steam sale and the 1st race with the fiat sleeper race in LA. it took a short cut and my brain went right in to midnight club mode. I like the more outlandish short cuts they put in for jumps and stuff so why not do that and make it a challenge.
with that i just swing a bit wider and it still works
New York isn't gone I've played The Crew 2 on my Xbox in New York still there I actually got to see a new part of the city that I've never seen before
Now they should just reset the leaderboards. Can't even beat the WR now.
Man I thought it took a wrong turn when I played it again and there were some new checkpoint which I did not remember
I knew the day that the update came as I grind New York for the bucks
19:50 ayo sid this me? lol anyways but yeah i really hate the squiggly roads especially up a mountain or something cuz sometimes theres a lot of trees and you cannot even skip them you are FORCED to take that road
Im a Gran turismo Player and i Raced a friend WHO Knows all the shortcuts but isnt able to Drive that good, that means Skill is better than shortcut without Driving good. I did IT 6minutes better than He did. Than i drove the same shortcuts He does and i drove 8 Minutes better than him so Skill is still better If you combine IT with everything Else.
Damn u have to have HUGE reflexes if you wanna play the crew 2
actuallly im surprised bc i used that shortcut before bc the 82 shortcut didnt work welll for me
This game is in a weird spot.
I'm a car guy and gamer. I Played TC1 and loved it. Fucking cried on The Crew 2 trailer. Played the damn Alpha. Bought the best edition before it was even released.
Played for a week, sometimes later, but it got boring so fast...
I think the shortcuts makes the crew 2 more unique
Ubisoft removed new york city? What the hell
If its accounting, or whatever you can do that pays well, go ahead and start it, start earning that money and invest it in yourself while you wrestle these existential conundrums into submission.
cope 🥸
Cope L + ratio
Casual not coping enough 🗿

That's an odd looking rock
shortcuts takes skill a lot of times. i come from playing more of trackmania but there skill is almost equal to shortcuts, but i know its not that extreme in the crew 2 but i would argue its a bit of the same at least
What about the new York race
Short cuts are fine, to a degree. I do think that when putting time on the leader board, it should not count the short cuts. Or, When the short cut may cut out a bit of longer road, like in NFS Heat on I think J Run..
I just wish it was possible to get platinum in the summet, I've only won one car, the red fury and that was when it first came out
i mean i like driving like alot but jesus it took me about 20 mins to drive to la from florida
So i was kinda new to summit and didn't know that once you reach platinum there's chance it might drop back to gold and do to my busy schedule don't have enough time to grind
To me it should be fun playing the crew 2
Not exhausting
That's just me guys
Do you think summit is to much grind
It can drop back down to gold?! damn I barely made into top 3k guess imma have to get a higher score.
I made platinum once. Once. Middle of the summit, and by the next day, id gotten kicked down to silver. Summit tiers shouldn't be relative to other players, instead just flat score levels.
And don't forget about the dam traffic it's like tanks driving on the road
I hate it its unbalanced
Roads are narrow and npc car appear from no where
I've already found two shortcuts on the highway that shave some good time. Don't think we'll see the same level of shortcuts as before but it'll be close
They should patch The camera mode button It takes forever and it's really annoying 📷😡
Ummmm i just finished the New York race and I was still able to take every shortcut perfectly fine
Ah yes.... they replaced the 82% with the 83%... perfection. just randomly got recommended it recently
I wish forza horizon did something like this game and add on motorcycles, the huge free roam is the only thing I like about this game. But the physics is what I don’t like.
Fh5, GT7... and now tc2, can developers just stop nerfing ways to make money
You're giving the short cuts away.
Akor___ said Wheel is OP and use a clutch makes it op af
u can drive with Drag cars like its streetcars
i cant do that with controller or keyboard
I guess u don´t undestand it well enough for dipdive into the control meta
tc2´s
🙄
man really wrote a whole essay about some pixels being moved
@@SpeedcoreJihad try first, dont listen others, u can set up some button to be the clutch. but in this game clutch does not do a lot
@@krutas bcz some people does not understand
@@RaceSmokie but u can instant shift into 3rd gear and no need for breaking so u can go faster through corners
it helps a lot if u use it right
And rynotheracoon still gets a world record
ohhh lol i was so confuesd iv been trying to do that short cut and was confused how people were able to do it.
40 minutes? I average new york in 33 minutes withiut shortcuts
I mean tbh why should shortcuts even matter that much. If you generally like to race and a good driver then it should be no problem. Honestly shortcuts is basically just cheating
You can jump off a cliff if you go down on the right hand side of the trees 😂😂 23:10
Getting rid of the shortcuts should warrant a leaderboard reset, or most world records will remain forever unbeaten.....
The way you customize your car makes me hate playing the game
