Another thing to install, charge, carry around and spend a ridiculous amount of money on, as if motorcycles aren’t encumbered with enough stuff these days. Pinlock is dismissed in this video, but I’ve been using it for seven years and it works perfectly. I’ve never had to raise my visor in cold, wet weather, it never mists up, and it doesn’t look ugly or interfere with your field of view. Well put together advert though…
Had pinlock visors for years and ridden in all sorts of weather and it works amazingly well. No cables, no battery to charge and keep on your person, cheap.. It just works.
Definite gap in the market for helmets with integrated batteries and visors with thin heating elements built in with flush contacts at the hinge. The Visin seems like the first baby-step with the wires hanging out around the visor aperture and relatively large, non-weatherproof battery box to stash somewhere. Don’t get me wrong, I suffer badly with misting even using contemporary fixes so Visin would be great but I think there is so much more to come provided the market demand is there. This might just be down to the price-point.
This is awesome. I commute through the winter in the US and will be getting this. I often ride freezing my face a bit with my visor cracked and was just about at a breaking point lol.
If the weather gets so cold where the Pinlock 120 gets overwhelmed I just use a Respro Foggy, it just moves your breathe down and out of the helmet and also keeps your glasses clear. No faffing around with batteries etc.
Another advert brought to you by Motobob rather than a true review. I can imagine the design meeting now, “why don’t we make it pinlock compatible to make installing it easier”, “nah, that would make it too easy”. Also why are the wires not on connectors at the shield itself to allow replacement and what is the warranty on those wires. There was no mention of whether the wires were a nuisance as they certainly looked like they would be annoying.
If you have a genuine pinlock this is not an issue unless faulty or a few years old and in need of replacement. Riding sub zero is a different case and how many realistically do that.
Plenty of people here are mentioning Pinlock. I have it on branded helmet. It works, but thes heated things are meant to be ridden in different situations. Few days ago we were riding in sub zero, foggy environment and even with Pinlock I was unable to drive without slightly raised visor. Moreover, every now and then visor was frozen from outside completely, requiring swiping/scraping ice off. However I'm not ready to give up on almost 200€ to have heated visor with limited battery. After playing with carbon fiber heating wires, I decided to make one by myself. It shouldn't be that hard nor so expensive as heating pad with USB control from Ali cost around 5€. If Visin would cost up to 50€ and be able to connect to ANY external battery pack OR USB port on my steering, I wouldn't mess around, would go for straight buying.
I have a ECE rated snowmobile helmet with a heated visor for my winter commuting in the PNW. I hate how the lid looks but the safety of being able to see and literally melt the freezing fog off my visor is worth it. With something like this new product I could actually wear a helmet I like and get the added safety benefits. I just hope they come out with a version that runs off your bike and not a separate charger. Otherwise pretty great and cheaper than buying a dedicated winter lid!
Great idea and about time , ps been using those zeiss wipes for ages+ their anti fog spray brilliant ( use to be a chef and it gets pretty steamy and foggy while using steamers in a galley ) I’ve started saving up , good video and Happy new year 😊😊👍👍👍
Seen times especially on the coast or high in the mountains I could use one as well as general commutes. Smowmobile riders have heated shields as well. Don't know how good they work. They don't have tires on them
I just rub soap on the inside of the visor, either a little liquid soap or rub a bar of soap on and then polish it off until its clear, costs nothing and works fine.
Nice! And it's made in the UK. There are some good cost effective alternatives though. There's another company in the UK called speedo angels, and they make some highly rated film inserts. No batteries required
From my exprerience, Foggy glasses only happend within a few minutes at the begining of your ride. if you keep your visor shut, the temperature of your glasses & inside is equal => no more fog. the fog on the visor is due to the outer visor is cooler than the inner. I think pinlock is already a perfect solution. no need to spend extra for this
Having just done a 2.5 hour trip in freezing fog, that journey did highlight the limitations of a (brand new) pinlock insert on a Shoei NXR2. It eventually fogged up with frozen patches, and I had to do part of the journey with the visor open or cracked open which was unpleasant. Having a big nose doesn't help either🙂. However, I already have so many things to remember to do when riding in subzero temps, this is just another complication. Yes, you can stop to fix things but who does that once you are going? If I were riding for a living in all weathers I would have ordered one already, but for the majority I can't see the need.
If any of the visin team is reading, please get rid of black glue and switch to transparent. Might not be an issue with brand specific inserts but the generic ones eat into the field of view. The black insert + fog around the insert mean you can't see anything to your left or right. Your view gets limited to just the area of the insert like in this video.
There are still the heating elements that need hidden, so clear won't solve this. black has better thermal efficiency too. Seems like a compromise one has to make.
My Shark has a drop down integral sun visor, looks like this product would stop me being able to use that. Looks like a decent product though for some use cases, I’ll stick to my pinlock though
A well designed lid would prevent 95% of moisture! A business model for the last 5% seems ambitious! Good luck t them... perhaps aim for the Canadian market!??
Interesting, but I´d be afraid to change the visor there and back, so probably a separate helmet for it..? (I change the speaker system twice a week as I work for 2 different riding schools and they both use different intercom systems, which has destroyed the helmet in two seasons). I´d maybe even consider a skidoo helmet with a heated visor already built in if I was riding in terrible conditions a lot.. It would be very interesting to see a comparison video. I found some at around 500USD..
I wonder why you aren't wearing the Flying Eyes glasses you advertise sometimes. You're one of the best bike reviewers. Is it worth ruining your reputation for the commission earned from this influencer style advert ?
2 loops of wire in ya peripherals looks daft, I would have run them higher into the head foam at the top then come down at the back or sides behind the foam.
Between that, heated jackets, gloves, face mask, Cardo pack talk Edge one can half be expected to be almost an assimilated Borg from Star Trek 😂😂. All plugged in wires coming and going, from rider to bike and back again, glowing wires, smoking battery all is toasty and warm😂
You've been impressed, because you DIDN'T wear GLASSES ! - I'd like to see you breathing like THAT, WITH glasses ON ! 😆 And - if the "high profiled" companies sell THIS kit - why don't they make visors with integrated heaters ...?? ( maybe some do ?? ). Anyway - THIS solution is not much better that the Pin-Lock. So, till someone releases heated lenses for GLASSES ( I tried with mounting a tiny fan + warmed up air... NOT so good - tooooo bulky ) - this remains to be a 1/2 baked product 🤷♂
@chasebelcher7932 👓 have nothing to do with pinlocks. Pinlocks are doing well for the visors. The problem is that some people (including myself) wear 👓 in the helmet. As a result, when we breathe in and out, 👓 become foggy and it's not a very good thing as u can't see things clearly.

Facts! Pinlock works, stuff your BS cable dependent insert at that price, not necessary 👎🏽
100%

Mine don't. As soon as there's rain it fogs up.
@@adiohead you're pin Lock probably isn't seated properly maybe try re-installing it
It has taken living in the age of AI, humanoid robots and the verge of cracking nuclear fusion to finally get heated visors. What a time to be alive!

Heated visors have been available on motorcycle helmets for years and years and years and years and years
They've been a popular accessory for snowmobiling helmets for years.
I just installed this two days ago.
I'm glad someone is reviewing it!
So far, I'm impressed!

I've seen a demo of it and it was impressive but it looks janky, especially for the price.
Agree with the pinlock part completely
The wires are not in the way.
If you have a genuine pinlock this is not an issue unless faulty or a few years old and in need of replacement. Riding sub zero is a different case and how many realistically do that.
Agreed, I commute all year round. an hour plus each way, and stil wouldn't consider this, given the expense as much as anything.
I have genuine pinlock and it does not work.
@@adiohead Then it is not installed correctly or you need contact helmet/pinlock manufacturer for a replacement.
@Cronus111 in the UK when it rains my pin lock doesn’t do as well
BS, Pinlock is pretty much rubbish in comparison to the Visin.
I've had Pinlock fitted by a Shoei tech guy and they still don't work correctly!

Cold climates, there's been Snowmobile Heated double pane face shield helmets for a long time, and they look much cleaner than this stick-in system.

Just need to work more on a photochromatic visor for summer now!
Thank you Bob. Interesting video. It would have been good to see how a pin lock would have performed on the ride for comparative purposes 🤔
I’ll stick with my pin lock, I ride all year with no problems
I find a neck tube covering my nose also helps massively.
Of course, I wear glasses, which can also be a foggy challenge!

Great product but the price of the battery pack is ridiculous. Good that you can buy the visors with it all ready installed though.
Does it help somehow for glasses too or there is no help for them?
NO - see MY comment
Pinlock works amazingly my glasses however get very misted quite a lot, Id accidently damage those tiny cables in seconds without a shadow of a doubt.
Nice idea - bit too expensive - not sure how well it would work with a flip up lid - wires look a bit flimsy.
Using GT air I and II
Never has my pin lock fog before my glasses
Just replace your pin locks regularly

There's a thing called a "car".
Really good for thise moments!
Then can save the extra money for bike tyres and that full system you always wanted 😉
Pinlocks when fitted properly would still be best

Wait, I've had heated snowmobile helmet visors since the 90s
Great concept but it looks home made. It needs to be slimmed down to where you can mount the battery on the helmet
Looks good
I miss my t120 black 😢
This would have been a good video April the 1st!😂
No discount code or did I miss it?
Seems an efficient product. If you wear glasses though....
Would it be legal for use at night?
Pretty sure the guy on the stand at the NEC last year said it was. It's 100% clear.

A bit worrying how much it misted up before you switched it on.
No mirrors on the bike?
Well if you ever give up Vlogging, you could always do a voice over for Darth Vader 😂😂👍👍
It’s my glasses that steam up mostly
Looks a lot like a half-baked product. Not easy to install, not easy to use and it does look ugly. That means I'm not paying for it. ;)
Moto Bob, ❤
Let’s hope it’s more successful than rainpal 😂
Safe to say im never going to use this product!
Agh but, does it keep your nose warm😂
Ok this is interesting 🤔🤔😂
Jesus Christ that's expensive for a powerbank, some cable and an adhesive heating element.
Nothing particularly new here, cold climates been using this tech for decades now. At least it seems to be UK based.
Wow….
You can't just dismiss pinlock because you're being paid to promote something. Have some shame.

Worse. I wear 👓 and while I ride with helmet despite having pinlock in visor, my 👓 gets foggy. And for this, I have to use anti fog spray alot 😢
