The only way the IJF is going to change these new rules is if freestyle judo starts to attract more competitors and other countries start to organize its federation in order to compete in International tournaments. There are about four to six countries that are practicing freestyle judo and there has already been one international tournament.
Surprised by the racket from the spectators, sounds more like a kids party than a Judo competition. When I was reffing I used to ask the spectators to show some respect. Sign of the times I suppose, but not a beneficial one.
I have not seen any announcements this year about international freestyle judo tournaments. The last international tournament was held on Aug. 21, 2011 in England. UA-cam does not allow me to put links. Type freestylejudo and add org to it or International Freestyle Judo Alliance which has information about that tournament. What a riiiiiidiiiiiiiculous rule! I guess this ridiculous rule was the only way of banning the European Judokas' modified wrestlinglike throws. Sad...and yet, the leg grabbing techniques are still all a part of the nage no kata. Hmmmmm???

well, he wouldn't have stopped with judo for mma, he would have fight differently, assimilating the rules (like the others) with an easy win. He chose differtenly.
