Do you need a chase bank account in order to apply for the freedom unlimited or the Sapphire preferred

I'm in my mid 30s and just got my first card last week. It is a chase freedom unlimited with a $900 limit. My credit score was non existent. It is not much, but is a modest start for a journey I should have started earlier. Better late than never.
Keep at it. I started paying attention 2 years ago at 34. Score was 510... 2 years at it and hoping to break into the 700s club here really soon. Patience pays off!
You got this! I just started too and I’ve shot up a lot 2 months in, also got a personal loan that’s been helping... get a good mix of credit + get about 5 different types of credit on your name pay them faithfully and watch it go up ✅✅
@@nanc3268 if you use creditkarma... file a dispute against the collections. No downside to disputing, and I've pulled several medical debts from my report just using the dispute process. VERY easy to do, and even if it doesn't get dropped from your report the only thing you have to lose if 5 minutes of your day. Good luck!!
Can you cash out the 900?
@@eddylucas7150 I doubt I could take out the entire limit as cash all at once. Even if I could it would tank my credit score in usage.
After watching this I went online to request a credit increase on my american express card. I had a 4k limit and they tripled to a 12k limit instantly. Thanks man!!
lol you really went ahead and asked to have it increased?? i would throw away that credit card if i was u.

You don't have to have better credit or make more money. I started with $1000 credit limit on amex in less then 6 months they raise my credit limit to $7000
Thank you
You don’t have to make more money... you can claim your household income as your income.. when my ex boyfriends and I were together my total income was both our incomes combined.

500 lol my first was 250. That same card I've had since I was 18 now has a limit of 25,800. They usually increase on their own as long as you are keeping them low or paid in full. Don't manually request it hurts you're score, better off signing up and getting a bonus on another card if you're doing a hard pull.
A42yearoldARAB Hey there, reach out to ray_consult on Instagram he helped me boost my credit score to the best figure he also did same for my friends his a pro you should check on him if your needing help.
Yea Navy federal gave me a really high limit. I applied and was denied at first so I got a self lender account , and I was approved for a capital one. The limit was so small lol but I took it and worked on it. Because if that it helped my credit and I believe that’s what made me finally get approved for navy fed with such a high limit. I’m still working on increasing the capital one since it was so low. All in all I’m satisfied.
Same here!
“The only other reason you would want a higher credit limit Is for the flex” 😂
Thank you for the video first of all good information Capital one has been my card however, I am in the rebuilding stage of my credit history so therefore I have to be patient regarding increases. Again thank you.

I have 7 cards in my arsenal, and they are as follows: 1 Chase - Freedom UL, 2 Citi - Double Cash/Rewards + , 3 Cap Ones - QS, Savor One, Venture One, and 1 Discover. I have the highest amount of credit with Cap One by far. As a matter of fact, I have more combined Credit with them then my other issuers combined. I have a good relationship with them and have maintained that. They have also given me the highest CL increases (like 6x original amount on one). Discover would be next with CL increase amount availability.
Very informative, clear, and concise.

Great Video Brian, thanks. One small detail IMO you didn't mention or emphasize enough is the fact that requesting limit increases usually involves a "Hard Inquiry" that can effect one's credit score, even though it is considered a "Low Impact" on your overall score. this category can remain on your record up to two years. Also, if you have let's say nine or more of these Hard Inquiries, it can raise red flags. Just a thought, thanks again for a great video!!!
Navy federal really is the goat! Do right by then and they do right by you

I’ve had the chase slate for 3 years and They have never increased my limit. BUT I did get the card when I was younger and it’s basically been near the limit all 3 years because some large expense always seem to pop up when I’m close to paying it off
He is right about Amex. I have an Amex every day card. Started with a 10K limit. Within a year they bumped it up to 33K. Then I changed jobs where I was able to use my personal card for business expenses and they re-imburse me. (think mega rewards points) I wanted to keep my business expenses separate from my personal finances so I called Amex and I got the Delta Platinum card. They started me off with a 20K limit and did not even pull my credit. Pretty amazing.

There are AMEX cards with no annual fees.
If you don’t use to much credit utilization the card companies will tell you don’t need it.
Emergencies are a reason to have them. Use the card pay it off with cash, build your credit score, history and get cash back and or perks.

I know it's off topic but could you make a video on how medical bills impact your credit score and can you get denied for a credit card if you have unpaid medical bills?

LMAO at 1:24 (Run Off With The Money)

I have never seen any one do it better.
Wooooo
Navy Federal has been most generous, and I’ve their Flagship card. Started with an initial limit of $7.5k, and about two years later I’m at $35k. American Express follows with an initial $1k two years ago with the Blue Magnet. I now have both the Gold and Platinum personal cards with spending power of about $20k. I paid my bills on time, occasionally carried a limit, and only request increases every six months.
I should say... A strategy I’ve found helpful is mentioning that I never let my utilization on individual cards exceed 10 percent. Mentioning that has occasionally turned a “no” into a yes. Since my payment and credit history show that it helps. I then mention that a low limit prevents me from making a purchase. That one-two punch - along with the previously mentioned - helps a lot... An annual income of $145k is a boon too.
Credit card companies want u to max ur cards out and pay the minimum balance. That’s like 90% of there revenue. They really win either way.
I started with $2000 on my Navy Fed and request an increase every 6 months. Now at $25,000 and looking to apply for Chase and AmEx business cards. 👁
Did you request online or call? How much were the increases? How long did that take to get to $25,000?
B T I’ve been requesting through the app but, I’m going to start calling to make sure it’s a soft pull on my credit. It took about two years. They usually counter my high request for instance, my last jump was from $19,000 and I requested $30,000.
Easy to understand. Good stuff.
Hey this has nothing to do with the video, but I'm looking to start a blog, do you have a video that talks about something like that?
I subscribed because I like the way you speak. Lol.
Just remember that a business credit card goes by your personal credit history! They also usually require proof of income.
Absolutely not true at all
Hmmm, was expecting to hear something new. I can’t figure out why capital one won’t give me a bigger limit on my oldest card (12 years of use with 2k limit). 750 Fico, 100k+ income my other cards have 16k+ limits. I would cancel it but it’s my oldest credit cars. Only thing I can think of is because I hardly use it,but I hardly use it because the limit is soo low.
could u make a video on which bank is the best to bank with and eventually get a credit card with them

I have a 23k limit in between my 7 CC, my goal is to reach 10K on each to have 70K in limit. Why? Because I want old man credit lol
Barclays , Capital one venture, Chase (obviously), amex, seems like everyone gives up limits between 15k-50k each if you ask them. Except discover, b of a is picky..... going to give US Bank and Citi some apps for business cards
I just got the Apple Card and love the benefits even though it’s not the best for rewards. It’s my 1st rewards card though and I got a decent credit limit not 10k though haha.. This is making me curious since you say chase sapphire starts at 10k or was it the reserve card? I’d think the applicants would need a high score to qualify. Also, my current card can increase by a soft pull. That’s not going to be on my report or affect my score right? Just double checking. I took a slight hit on my score 5-10 just for the Apple Card which is an awesome looking card! 💳
I like how everybody has 40-50 thousand dollar limit and a score of 780. Yeah! Right!

@@BrJD-ii4iv $10,000 currently. Yes i ha enever been late on my account. Yer i was still denied.
My wife and I never asks for credit limit increases, but her card automatically increases every two years. She now has a credit limit of $14k on each card; while, mines is stuck at $6500 each card and never increases itself (we both have same cards). And I’m more financially responsible than her and keep a low utilization. I also have a slightly higher credit score than her in the low 800’s. I’m petty af, so I won’t go beg the bank to increase my credit limit. If they don’t acknowledge my financial responsibility or want my business, then so be it. I’ll go get it somewhere else. 🤷🏻
