Horatio Spafford wrote this song after going through a couple of tragedies in his life. The Great Chicago Fire in 1871 ruined him financially. He had been a wealthy businessman. Two years later, he sent his wife and 4 daughters on a vacation to Europe and he was to join them later. He received the heartbreaking telegram "Saved Alone". All 4 of his daughters died in a shipwreck. You familiar with that story?

Daniel hello: I will love to see/hear how the singing in this Church has developed over time (from 5 or 6 years ago when this video was posted)… because seeing the congregants back in 2018, I'm somewhat concerned the spine of this beautiful Baptist Church is aging... We need to get a lot more of our children and young adolescents' back into the churches!!! That is what grew the Church..., and makes this singing GENERATION GREAT!
