I would honestly like to see different sanctions like powerlifting where they test and where they don't. That way if you want to do it you are free to without harassment and if you don't you can make sure (hopefully) everyone else isn't also. This would give the "dope em up and see what they can do" crowd a scene and the "no way jose" crowd a scene.

The careers of so many great lifters was ruined. There's no place for drug tests in professional sport. Olympic games should be for amateurs that don't want to use PED's. There are so many sports like boxing, football, powerlifting, strongman that doesn't care about this Olympic mafia where political and financial interest dictate the rules. I want to watch records beyond the human abilities, but I totally lost interest when they started to take medals and send them to other people 8 years after the competition. So what am I watching when after a few years no one of the winner may not be a winner and some records may be erased? What a joke.
I feel like I missed the main point you were trying to make between form and technique. I get that you believe PEDs help not only strength, speed, recovery, but also precision or readiness to train. But I didn't get distinction between form and technique. Are these objective, observable criteria? Once I understand the difference, can I watch a lifter and say, well judging by his/her form (or technique?), the lifter is on PEDs (or not)? Not trying to needle you. Just did not get your point.
Essentially just watch a lifter during the times when they’re a s hot as ever then watch them now. The performance decrease is the objective in that their total is reduced substantially. Their form with these lifts is shaky as well.

But maybe there is too little money in weightlifting for US athletes to dope, but for me, saying that US athletes are clean rings as false as saying that Russian athletes are clean. I'm not sure whether I disagree with Zack on this because he is biased, or because he knows stuff.
As I understand, in the book " The White Prisoner, Galabin Boevski's Secret Story" the author claims there was official favoritism towards Naim Suleymanoglu.
I think there should be tested and untested federations BUT: the Olympics should be clean. However even in clean sports, doping happens but just enough to be under the limit if being popped. Basically because there is a genetic variable to how much testosterone people can naturally have, (I think its between 235 and 1075ng/dL) however there are anomalies and to account for this doping agencies will allow usually up to around 1400ng/dL before it's a positive). For those wondering, how does this work? Well the way your body carries testosterone through to muscle cells is through red blood cells, these carry the necessary nutrients and hormonal data to develop growth and recovery. This is important because this can range from cycle of steroids then blood collection or just a natural blood collection, the only indication of any foul play is abnormally high red blood cell count(this is how Lance Armstrong did it), so basically when it comes to doping in sports athletes at the top will always walk on that tightrope. Just enough testosterone carrying red blood cells in the blood to not get popped. This is why Lance Armstrong talked about how during his training cycle he would have to wake up during the night to raise his heart rate to ensure the red blood cells were flowing because the bloods thickness causes much higher risk for blood clots.
