    Used the Bird Baptism brine and Honey Hog rub and this was the best Turkey I’ve ever had! I can’t stop eating it and I am stuffed. Great videos and products! I will definitely be trying more of your products.

      What was your temp, weight and cook time? His time for a 12 lb bird seemed a little short. I’m doing my 1st on tomorrow

      @@jcreel157 mine was a 20lb bird I did at 275-290 degrees and it took about 3.5 hrs Brined for 24 hrs. turned out amazing. Im doing another one tomorrow as well. Good Luck!

    5 gallon buckets labeled as food safe are great and absolutely safe for brining meat. In fact, Yetis use the same type of plastic (HDPE) as the cheaper 5 gallon buckets. It’s unfortunate you had to say something like that about a practical and inexpensive product just to peddle something for Yeti.
    $6 vs $40. Going to Home Depot or Lowe’s is just smarter.

      Agreed 100%. As if anyone would simply by a bucket from Lowe's or Home Depot, bring it home and NOT wash it thoroughly first.....SMH.

Nice seeing you back on UA-cam awesome Channel brother watched you Pitmasters follow you on Facebook and IG I love the rubs. I've gone through three shakers of gospel in about 4 months I love the stuff I'm glad it's in a big shaker to cuz I am liberal with it that's for sure And trying to get my hands on some of that Holy Gospel up here in Canada cheap shipping..     I bought a frozen turkey to trial run on the smoker prior to Thanksgiving. I wasn’t paying attention to the fact that they added 8% solution to it already. Can it still be brined beyond what’s already been pre done from the company? Don’t want it too salty.

    Been a few years since this video, but was wondering. You used a fresh turkey that had not already been injected or brined in some turkey broth / salt solution, correct? Have you ever brined a frozen one that has been in an 8 or 9% solution?

      I've read if it came in a brine solution to only brine it for 15 minutes per pound.

    Thanks man everyone smoking a turkey was saying 6hrs mine takes about 3 hrs or so. An I use an electric smoker. Is the 6 hour smoke for indirect heat?

    I enjoy your videos and rubs. Just 2 comments, a 5 gallon utility bucket is just fine if you use a food safe liner. My second comment is a question. Why did you choose to not spatchcock? I've smoked turkeys for years and get a much better cook with a spatchcocked bird.

    I use a new unsented trash can bag, and set the turkey and brine down into a 5 gal bucket I leave it 2 to 3 days in a cold place

    When I smoke a turkey I usually try to stay small, but my Mom gave me a turkey to smoke for the family that is too big (19.5 lbs). Any tips for smoking such a large turkey without drying out? Should I try wrapping in foil or butcher paper?

      the chemicals the bucket is made with. plastic will leach chemicals into the brine. If it is not food safe, you may be poisoning yourself.

      Home depot has food safe white buckets too for about $10. You can get screw on lids as well that are food safe

      I'm doing mine now. Plan on treating it like an oven....1 hour per 5lbs. Checking temp after 2 to 3 hours though

      Matt, how much kick does the habanero rub add to the turkey. Have kids that don't love too much spice. I know sometimes the spice cooks off. Other times it still has some heat. If this is still punchy in terms of spiciness, is there another of the rib candies you would recommend as an alternative that is more mild?

      We used our Honey Hog rub. No hab. The hab comes from the optional glaze only. TPJ has several rub candies that you can choose from though.

      As long as it's food safe a container it works. the cheapest ones at Lowe's & HD are not so you just have to look for the ones that are....
