Can't believe the rich sound with just the banjo & part of the drum set, does anyone know why the banjo sounds so deep, is it just how he's playing? So good...!
Partly how he's playing, clawhammer--no picks, but a lot is from the way the banjo is built/set-up. Old time banjos have the open back, so not as bright as banjos with resonator pieces on the back. Also the material on the head, the tightness, and the size of the pot affect the tone.
