I am glad that you have a microphone now. I hope that things are well with you and your family. I was in Rice Lake yesterday and I wanted to visit you but I know you said that you are real busy. 😃😃😃😃
This is so timely for me. Just bought stock today to make a 20 ton hydraulic finger plate jig and was pondering set ups on my Bridgeport. It will be the first time knodding it’s head for multi angle block and the blades., may now use the block to steady blades. Thanks for the help and inspiration.
@@TopperMachineLLC thanks, I saw it listed, just have not gotten to it ye....thanks so much for sharing the info.....loved you Buzzsaw buy start up...pesky mice really make a mess.....that Wisconsin 2 cylinder rocked....my friend had a saw like yours, he is a cnc machinist and manual one too....and put a negative rake on the teeth, he swore it cut better, probably reduced the tendency to climb....he uses slabs to heat his house in North Carolina......lots fo hard wood there.....and cheap to buy from he small mills......stay warm this winter....Paul down in Florida,,,,,,
That´s a beautiful planer, Congrats to a nice find! It´s very similar to my old Powell planer. I have a parts to set up a ISO 40 taper milling head on it as well. Gonna be great for cylinder heads and blocks and jobs likes this and more.
For a job like that, original head and clapper box with a HSS tool bit might not be the fastest, but it sure would save on ruined end mills and be a lot cheaper.
I have not, because I don't usually use it with carbide cutters and never had an issue. And I don't like coolant in the air. But maybe one of those cold air guns would work.
@@TopperMachineLLC the cold air guns use a ton of air......the Misters are basically water with a small bit of antirust additive, 4 oz to 128 oz of water....you may be surprised how little coolant is in the air if you have not used one, they are not really foggers as Lewis mentioned, at least the ones I have used......I am not speaking of ones that use oil. If nothing else, a Kool-Mist with notcoolant....just air does a good job of cooling also....hopefully by now you have tried something....best wishes, an old guy down in Florida, Paul
@@ypaulbrown air consumption isn't an issue. I have 2 cold air guns that I have been playing with. When the next big job comes in, I'll fire up the trailer compressor and get it done.

That's a great idea putting the Bridgeport head on the planer!!!!
The place I bought it from was using it as a big drill press, for their hole patterns. I like how it works for my needs.

I just put up part 2 of this series. It will be 3 parts, but the final one will be a while as I need to year down for a paying job.
Good video. Really enjoyed the machining you captured at about the 4-min mark.
Best DIY gantry mill !
And those T slot clamps are a great idea
They are in a few of my old machining books in the planer sections. Can't find any common used names in any of the books, but work awesome.
@@TopperMachineLLC did it specify what degrees to drill and tap the hole?
@@craigtate5930 no, I chose the angle
Thanks for sharing
wow, have never seen a cool t slot block like that....thanks for sharing......I could have used those a few times.....cheers, Paul
I did a video on making them. It should be in the planer playlist.

Planers are awesome machines. It don't get used much, but when it does, it makes money.

None of the original parts or drive were on it when I got it. Would love a complete planer, but this works
What an awesome machine. Do you have any other vids on this planer/mill?
Not yet. Just starting out on my channel, so more to come. Actually kind of holding back, waiting for new camera and audio equipment
How about using a cold air gun? Or even an oil pot?
That planner mill looks super versatile Great job . have you thought of putting a coolant mister/fog blaster on it ?

Comment, if you don’t mind, on climb milling vs conventional milling.
Didnt say what type of bit. How fast cutting speed and feed rate.
This is only the second repurposed Bridgeport head I ever seen. The first one was on a lapping machine that produced Hubble telescope mirror.
I could not make out what you were saying during the milling process. The machine was making too much noise/rattle sounds.
That's basically a planeo mill
👍😎👍
You have quite an echo in this video. Should stand closer to the camera/microphone.
Sorry Dude but that's a brake press. I have a million or so bends on them so I should know.
