Wow this is super-helpful. I did notice the count was inconsistent, but I thought that it adds+1 every couple of bushes/trees etc. Your discovery makes complete sense! Thanks!
nah you don't have to do that, test it out yourself and see what works best for your valley. from my experience, placing down some items that are already in another biome/the original biome doesn't add to the count, while others do. the best thing to do is just to keep an eye on the item count while you're decorating
Great tip! Especially for someone like me who cleared out all biomes, and only added plaza trees. I have found that those little plaza trees will allow all types of wood to spawn in. I put six down with three spaces between each tree in all biomes except Dazzling Beach. For some reason I can't get any wood to spawn there.
I tested it after you posted this, because i hadn't noticed my count go up as i decorated. What i learned is that SOME items count towards this. For instance i was placing bushes in the plaza, and only the bushes from forgotten lands made my item count go up. It was the same for rocks. However... More of the trees counted, if they were from different biomes, though not all. For instance i could easily place Fir and Acacia trees in the plaza, but meager tree and dead pine could not be placed without it counting. I also tried placing different trees in other biomes. It seems to me it has nothing to do with Biomes, it's just that different landscaping items count towards the limit and others dosen't.
yea that seems to be my experience too. i've found that placing down a rock that's already been used elsewhere on the valley doesn't count towards the item count. i can put the same rock in every biome and it still counted as one. trees have been a bit more whack but i haven't tested it recently after i cleared a few biomes
What if different shapes of the same tree adds another count? I can't get on right now to test this, but it does sound right to me. Maybe try and place trees til you get a duplicate shape to see if it counts?
aah. They should change that.. also i noticed in my game atleast that if i have dropped items like dirt that i didnt pick up after digging or farm items that i have left on ground.. it also counted towards my item limit.. also holes u dig. I had left pumkins from a huge explosion and the blue had run out before half with through picking them up.. so i had left alot of them around cus i was too lazy to pick them all up.. after picking them up i was able to build again. I did plant them in the wrong area though so maybe that is why? Is the item limit shared through out all areas?
Oh, I hadn't noticed dropped resources or holes counting too! The item limit does seem to be shared between all the biomes. Hopefully this is improved!
For me the biome didn't matter at all. What mattered most was unique items. If the item is used more than once, it should only count as "one" item in the limit, regardless of biome. I tested sticks, flowers, vines, and nothing changed. With dropped items, I dropped one fish and it didn't matter, but 3 fish counted as "one" item in the limit. This was the same when the item was placed on the table. (This is my game experience only though! And I am on PC version)
I wish they would up the limit 600 is not enough for the whole world :( Ive just started decorating my plaza and made a little downtown shopping area with remys and scrooges shop and im already at 300 items used

Omg I did not have any idea that items native to the biome didn’t count. This makes a world of difference! TYSM!!!
OK, so keep biome specific stuff in the correct biome. Got it.
Thanks for the tip.

I like it that way too, that way it's more of a contrast between the biomes

Dazzling Beach doesn't spawn wood no matter how many trees or what kind of trees
That's unfortunate, because drift wood would have been a great resource to build pirate themed decorations with.

@@monarchsown6938 you know what, i think this is right. can't test it right now but i wouldn't be surprised if that was the case

Hmm! Not really sure, this was my best guess!

Aw that sounds incredible! Hopefully the item limit is increased in the future
There Shouldn’t BE a limit
I found that the items from the biomes that we haven’t unlocked the pillars to count as placed items. I.E: frosted heights and the forgotten lands
Interesting!
Thanks for that! Had been trying to figure it out also haha
Dug holes count towards your item limit. Even if there isn't a crop planted. Found out the hard way.
It because of your farming as well every hole you dig and plant it count a one. Most people have at least 300 pumpkins or so
Hopefully crops and holes will be removed from counting towards it!
I mean I've got 2000 crops so it's definitely not crop spots lol
Oh wow! That’s good to know!!!
interesting! I appreciate you looking into this 🙏😚
No, wait… WHAT!? I thought landscape didn’t count😭
Good to know. Thank you!!!
