Great reaction. Dimash's rendition of Lionel Richie’s "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018"; he was not competing that year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end.
Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijanian, Kazakh) runs in the song. His friend, Erlan Bekchurin, did the musical arrangement for this performance, as well as most of his other arrangements. The flute is called a sybyzgy, a traditional Kazakh flute, and precursor to the modern flutes. This is my favorite rendition of the song; even better than the original in my humble opinion.
Dimash is impossible and if not, at least is inexplicable, we are witnessing a living artistic miracle in process.
PS: He says "I Love You" in the middle of the song in Mandarin: Wǒ ài nǐ/我爱你, and almost at the very end he says the same phrase in Kazakh: Men seni süyemin/Мен сені cyемін.
Dimash, is a supreme lyrical singer!
Dimash' crew NEVER messes up. That was intentional. This version is a THOUSAND times better than Lionel's EVER was. Advice, though? Respect the whole video. Watch until the end. And you NEVER lose the shock value...NEVER. Because Dimash always brings something different to every single video. Now go watch Story of One Sky and tell me again that you aren't shocked.
Instead of the shock value, I urge you to look for the emotion and the message. Dimash rarely does anything for the shock value, everything he does is justified by what he wants to express. For me, the most impressive thing here is the connection he does between West and East by using both Eastern and Western musical elements, in order to say Hello from one side of the world to the other side!... Isn't it clever???
I believe you would be blown away by his new masterpiece The Story of One Sky. Would be interesting to see if you get the shock value with the amazing vocals and the message.

I don't think that the shock-factor is something we should be waiting for. I was shocked the first time I heard him singing. But then I started to appreciate the intrincacy of his art. Because he is more than a singer or a vocalist. He is a musician with a rare artistry.

This short film took him 3 years between creating the story, composing the melody, orchestration, production and - as if it was not enough - he is one of the main characters.

If shock value was the essence of his career he wouldn't have such loyal fans. Dimash eats, sleeps, breathes music and he is a great performer able to convey emotions when singing. Dimash's repertoir got a wide span, multiple genres and styles, one style not necessarily better than the other, just different.
Dimash is not a one trick pony, his vocal toolbox is so well equipped that he got the privilige to sing a song excactly the way he thinks suits the song best. So my advice is to see beyond the shock value, it's just good music with an unusually skilled vocalist.
I see many Dears have suggested to check out "The Story of One Sky". It's not only a song where you really can hear how he uses his vocal toolbox to colour the song and to get through the emotions and message he wants to convey, it's also a song composed by Dimash (he pays attention to every little detail in the music) and he contributed to the movie script as well. That video and song will hopefully convince you that he is a true artist with something to say, not only a vocal acrobat with shock value.

And with Dimash….to me and many of his fans/Dears, even the same song over and over brings tears or other emotions into play like no other artist can.
So it is in the eyes and ears, heart and soul of the beholder as to what the long term response will be.
But Dimash is not just a performer that will run for a time and grow old or stale.
Mark my words…..he is fulfilling a very special destiny to restore what Hollywood has destroyed.
His frequencies create and bring refreshment and healing to those who understand how sound is meant to work, and will allow it to penetrate into their inner beings.
If you only enjoy skins, then you are missing out.

Dimash performed this in 2018 when he was invited back as a guest for the finale of the chinese show The Singer. He sang two "I love you"`s of the song in chinese - "Wǒ ài nǐ" (and one in kazakh at the end - "men seni süyemin") - as a salute to his fans - since The Singer 2017 in which he competed, he got millions of chinese fans, very supportive and loyal fans. And at the end he thanked the audience in chinese ("Fēicháng gǎnxiè" = 'thank you so much')

His band is excellent and you rarely hear mistakes. In Dubai they brought in a violinist and there was a little hiccup between him and the pianist. I guess since they weren't familiar with each other. They got a look from the boss 😆. He's a very kind man but I don't think he tolerates many mistakes because he's a perfectionist.

As this was performed for The Singer 2018 as a guest, you should hear the marked improvement of Dimash's voice every year as he matures. He was 24 at that time. He is now 28 and the sheer improvement of the quality of his voice every year is scary. You have barely scratched the surface of his works. Every song is so different it's not possible to pigeonhole him into any box. All of his original songs are works of art but I agree, so far, Requiem: The Story of One Sky is his current masterpiece of music film score, vocal prowess, acting skills, and overall creativity. Very meaningful message that puts you through the emotional wringer.
Every composer who has written for Dimash calls him a genius. Many wprld class composers are waiting in line to be considered by him. Hans Zimmer has just recently contacted Dimash so am guessing there will be a collaboration for an upcoming film. It will be exciting to see what his next project will be.

Using folk arrangements like “Sybyzgi”, beautiful Kazakh wind instrument; Dimash skillfully mixes Eastern and Western styles, a bit of Kazakh folklore in between, creating a unique and mind-blowing ending. The last sentence of the song Dimash says "Wö-ai-ni" is “I love you” in Mandarin, out of respect for China. the phrase that speaks at the end are “Thanks” and “I love you”. The thing about Dimash is that while all his music is awesome and epic, each is so different, that it always manages to surprise and delight us. The thing is that you don't enjoy an artist because of the shock but because of the connection you feel to him/her. Most of Dimash's songs are in a normal range without any crazy vocal acrobatics and they are the most beautiful and touching to me. Qairan elim, Samaltau, Amanat, If I never breathe again, Couldn't leave, Give me love, Akkuym .... I also enjoy his crazy stuffs but that's not the reason why I'm a fan.

By the way, Hello by no means is one of his best songs. For a less shocking but incredibly beautiful song, I suggest you watch "Autumn Strong" (Arnau concert version). You may want to check out his own songs (War and Peace - Arnau concert version and Unforgettable Day - Gakky version). He wrote about ten songs but these two are my favorite among them.

Dimash was the guest of honor at the final concert of the competition 'The Singer 2018' (Jessie J won). Lionel Richie liked the appearance of Dimash, his son-in-law was in the audience and was filming. I wouldhave liked to see Lionel's face. Unfortunately Richie did not agree to a future performance of this Dimash song... but we have the video on UA-cam with this unforgettable version of Dimash.

Thank you for reacting to Dimash, my favorite artist! He’s indeed any composer’s dream such as Igor Krutoy or Zaia Piergiuseppe.
I love how he makes such a classic 80’s song like Hello his own, by incorporating the Kazakh traditional flute and oriental melismas. I think it’s a brilliant idea to have done so, giving the song a new breath, and also bridging the East and the West at the same time.
Here’s my question for you guys: whenever you listen to your favorite artists, are you also looking for any shock value of some sort, precisely because you already know their singing styles; or you simply want to enjoy and appreciate to the fullest their voice and music? My point is: why should it be different with Dimash?
Now that you know how incredible he is, just let yourself go and simply enjoy his wonderful voice. His intent is not to shock us anyways, but use his vocal abilities to tell us a story like in “Stranger”, his original song composed by Igor Krutoy. I don’t recall if you have already reacted to it but if not, you’re in for a wonderful musical journey!
Thus, listening to Stranger is in and of itself a musical journey where we’re accompanying Dimash through this “stranger’s land” with each and every vocal technique and singing style which denotes a different culture and path in life. Again, Dimash does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story; like in his latest masterpiece that he composed himself, “The Story of One Sky” (we are divided into different countries, races and faiths, but we all share the same sky: this song is a cry for peace and unity).
I’m not listening to Dimash in search of any shock value: being a Dear, I’m rather quite familiar with his singing styles - yes, styles, plural!
I certainly do not take his talent and incredible gift for granted. Bear in mind, precisely, that he’s a rare musical prodigy. Thus, being able to truly appreciate his artistry and magnificent voice is both a privilege, and a musical experience; if we allow ourselves to delve into his world. Let’s face it, Dimash is rare gem in the music industry and not being able to appreciate him is like wasting a precious drop of water in the desert.

Dimash keeps getting better only by raising his own bar. His musical and intelligence IQs are off the charts and immeasurable. He surpasses himself. Just enjoy the journey and praise the Lord you were blessed to be on this planet when Dimash was loaned to us from God’s angel choir. ❤️
