This performance changed his life, I believe that 600 million people in China viewed this. The next morning there were bodyguards outside of his hotel room. His was the first performance in this season of the Singer , he was the youngest contestant to ever perform in this competition since all other competitors were already famous in China, Dimash was an invited wildcard. The rest is history, yes he had won many competitions prior to this, which lead to his invitation, however this competition exposed Dimash to China, overnight star, and UA-cam videos have spread his music, through reactor’s such as yourselves. The US is one of the last places to really get massive exposure, although he was invited to sing at the Presidential Inauguration, which he did, as an ambassador of peace, and he has had a concert in NY in 2019. Dimash sang the Kazakh national anthem before the boxing match between Canelo and Golovkin. I was impressed I searched it on YT and learned his name. Now I’m going down the rabbit hole. He’s amazing
The guys on the sidelines are his fellow competitors who are saying, "We're toast." The song is about his wishing to be a bird, seeing the earth from on high so that it's ugliness is obscured.
Now remember in the future: if you ever have a bad day, someone had to go on stage to perform immediately after him.
My favourite growl is in another version of Stranger he did on a show called Shine Super Brothers. He also growls in Drunken Concubine, Our Love, and Know (vocalise version)

This was the first performance of the contest and Dimash just owned it. At the very end, you see the poor woman who's supposed to sing next standing there with a microphone, applauding and, maybe I'm just projecting, but she looks like "How TF am I supposed to follow that?"

I love his "Vocalise.", but he almost always changes the sound a little, there are not so many identical ones =) At least at solo concerts they are different. At concerts in Moscow, where he sang this song for the first time, three versions turned out: two from live concerts and one TV version, completed in the studio. There were words, but not all and not always =)
This video is great for reactors who don't quite understand why Dimash's fans like watching reactors so much. So many reactors get a kick out of watching the audience in this video, as they react to hearing Dimash's voice for the first time: Some of them are crying, some praying, some look hypnotized, some frightened, and some look like they're in open-mouthed shock, beyond thinking or feeling. Now, tell me, Dear Thunder Roosters, how satisfying is it to see those reactions? It never gets old, and it never will.

Dimash was the youngest of them. Its organizers invited him themselves.Dimash sang "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" in the competition he was supposed to sing first. There were eight singers, it will go on to seven. Dimash passed. Each day, one participant receives a cup and one leaves the project. There are 14 cups in total. This means that you have to take part in 14 turns. The winner is the one who receives the most cups. New singers join along the way.The peculiarity of the project is that the cameras in real mode observe your every move, film how you eat, how you behave In 2017, Dimash's competitors were very strong, experienced singers, multiple winners of the "China Music World", "M T V Awards" and others.
The peculiarity of this show is that the singer is not limited to performing the song on stage, he is constantly under real-time supervision.The main requirements for the singer in the project "I am a Singer":
1. A singer must win the hearts of the audience.
2. He has to show his new face every time.

The winner in each round is selected by 500 spectators aged 20-60 sitting in the hall. Each viewer has the right to vote for three singers. These 500 viewers no longer vote in other rounds. The Drunken Concubine/Diva dance duet has him more or less growling towards the beginning that duet he also whistles in the 7th octave. In the same show Dimash won another episode with the song "Adagio" For me the song is an emotional roller coaster ride that blows me away every time I hear it. Pure ear orgasm. There was singing in the tv show "I am singer" in Hunan, China when he was 22 years old.
“SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamadon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover to overdose suicide causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.

Greetings from Hungary! I'm so glad to see your reaction again! "SOS" is a defining song in Dimash's career. It is true that the world knew it with this version, but this is from 2017, since then there are at least 5 even better versions,,, (he also sang this for the inauguration of the US president, and a new version was made last year and this year) of course I am also happy with this,,( I would only recommend to dears that perhaps we should recommend the friser versions) When she sang this on I'm Singer, it was aired on Chinese TV, the next day dimash Weibo, the most popular media site in China, gained 600,000,000 followers in one day,and his first album went platinum in 90 seconds (read right)

IMO, this is the best version he has done of SOS. There is an emotional vulnerability in this I do not find in the other versions.
I believe his album went platinum the 1st time in 37 seconds. But I could be wrong. It then went platinum I think 3 times within a couple days
@@79BlackRose I agree with you about his vulnerability here, but it’s incredibly vulnerable/raw in his digital show- just a more mature kind, more inner & intimate (though the visual affects while spectacular can take away/distract from that aspect. That version has completely grown on me as I originally said same as you). And either you haven’t seen his London concert SOS (there are fancams, some better angles than others), or you discount it in your list because it’s not technically vocally superior. In case you haven’t seen it- his good friend Denis Ten (a Kazakh Olympian & bright star) was murdered shortly before he was to perform with Dimash at his London concert. He dedicates SOS to him, & is so overcome with emotion, it’s the only time I’ve seen him unable to sing at times (he was also very sick with a high fever, he refused to cancel as it was a charity concert & he knew Dears flew from all over). So while it doesn’t technically match his consummate perfection in 99% of his performances, I think it’s incredibly touching & beautiful, & a must for any Dimash fan to witness.

As for World Peace, who knows? He's certainly gathered together thousands and thousands of people from across the globe, if you want to hear something really special from Dimash then check out the Prague chorus where he conducts an audience of 14,000 people from over 60 countries to sing together in one voice and it sounds incredible. Dimash always has the audience doing vocal exercises and normally the audience admit defeat but this time they kept up with him and he was so excited by this that he took it up a notch to do a three part harmony with the Dears.

Just in case you were wondering... when you want MORE this means you have been 'Dimashified'. 😆 I think the genius of this is not just in Dimash's performance, but the very smart Director edits to the audience, where everyone around the world goes; " Hey! That's MY Face!"
This was Dimash's very first performance on the Chinese Singer show and he blew them all away. We can see why! The show was for invited established performers only and Dimash was an unknown. The audience are not random members of the public but selected industry professionals - so their standards and expectations are high. They are not easily impressed. The gave him a warm initial welcome as a courtesy, Every welcome after were as DEVOTED Fans! That included his competitors.
The evening this went to air in China, and other parts of Asia, 300 million+ fans were created and to his great shock, he then needed personal security to go anywhere, as his fans followed him everywhere. Still do. { There's an interview somewhere where he describes this experience. It was something about how he wanted to go get a Big Mac for breakfast and he was told he couldn't go without a personal guard! }
# When I was in China and went to get a Big Mac I thought I should have had a guard -a MOUTH GUARD! But that was my fault - shouldn't have ordered the one with Szechuan sauce...
At the end, when he DIDN'T WIN the competition everyone went nuts. The program producers then had to admit that they'd never expected him to win, that he was invited in as a novelty and nod to their Kazakh neighbour. That they HAD to choose only a Chinese competitor as the winner was to represent China in other international competitions. "Oh Dear!" This explanation just inflamed the fan's anger, apparently their 'twitter-world' went so nuts nearly shut the whole system down and eventually 'external authorities' stepped in and gave him an Honorary Title of 'Kazakh - China Cultural Ambassador' - or some such...
This wasn't enough for some devoted fans { I suspect a group of mad keen Astronomers } who managed to get a newly discovered Star - in the Andromeda Galaxy I believe - named after Dimash. Believe it or not! 'tis true.
Drunken Concubine/Diva Dance has the growl and some other great surprises ❤️, I think that you guys would love it.

He has an amazing musical education, all the technical details he sings and uses, he knows how it works. He is musical perfection. There is no technical detail that he doesn't have, no one has ever had such talent and skills, he can be bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor, alto, mezzo soprano, soprano and so on, he sings in 15 languages, he has the biggest range . He sings many genres, opera, pop, rap and so on. In addition to the talent that God gave, the work that he did is amazing. In his song it feels like he is a professional even without high notes.Unfortunately, as always, geniuses are appreciated late, this guy deserves much, much more recognition, I hope the time will come and he will be properly appreciated. The song "S.O.S." is from the rock-opera musical "Starmania" , a Québec-France production from the mid-70's. Starmania's songs have defied time in the French musical repertoire. I know all its songs by heart and many have been covered by famous singers over the decades. That's how I discovered Dimash in 2019, I was looking what I could find for Starmania's 40th anniversary on YT and from then on, my feed kept offering me this SOS cover with Chinese characters... Finally one day I decided to click on it more out of frustration than curiosity... and Dimash's performance made me weep.

In Sinful Passion (Slavic Bazaar version with the blue stage) he does some fabulous vocal fry on his low notes. Just gorgeous and amazingly sexy, and it doesn't matter if you are male or female, anyone can hear that it's sexy LOL. Love is Like a Dream (dark red velvet suit version with Igor Krutoy on piano) it starts with deep vocals with a lot of vocal fry. Stunning performances. Both have lots of surprises for you. He does a growling 'Ascolte de Voce' i.e. 'Listen to the Voice', on several songs including Know (vocalised version), Our Love (on the Masked Singer) and Stranger (Super Shine Brothers version). Drunken Concubine has a growl too. Now that is really worth seeing - an amazing performance with Chinese opera singer Li Yugang. Mind blowing duet. He does some deep vocals on Passione too, where he sings in full classical voice mode. Nobody says he's an opera singer (much less Dimash himself) but he gets close to it on occasion.

For the best growl, you’ll have to check out Stranger from Shine Brothers. Dimash performs the same song in different ways, so it’s not like watching a carbon copy of the one you’ve already watched. I think Olimpico would blow your minds as well. If you want to see his more mainstream dance/R&B vibe, watch “ Be With Me” official music video. It’s a mini action movie where he fights like Jackie Chan and raps in a section. The song has strong Michael Jackson vibes.

Know that he was sick, been on set since morning waiting & was not able to perform until after midnight. He also didn’t have the amazing live instrumentals or amount of time, so you’ll be surprised how he changed things. You’ll also hear meaty growls as well as mesmerizing awesomeness/new layers & facets to his vocals in : 1. Drunken Concubine/Diva Dance (mash up duet with a male Chinese opera singer), & 2. Know (Vocalise) from his Arnau concert in Kiev Ukraine- just before pandemic forced him to put the rest of his tour on ice.

The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

That's why the contestants listened to him so attentively, they didn't know anything about him, and that's why they were so surprised.
