- The WDR BIG Band plays "Donna Lee" (K: Charlie Parker, A: Martin Paich) under the direction of Joan Chamorro. Musicians of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band from Barcelona / Spain are part of this concert. Solos will be played by Rob Bruynen (trumpet), Alba Esteban (baritone saxophone), Gerard Peñaranda(trumpet), Koldo Munné (alto saxophone), Ben Fitzpatrick (tenor saxophone), Elsa Armengou (trumpet). Livestream of the concert "Jazz mal anders: WDR BIG BAND & Friends" at the Kölner Philharmonie (May 2022).
The famous Sant Andreu Jazz Youth Band from Barcelona is also infected by jazz fever - the young musicians love jazz and will put on a brilliant program in their first joint concert with the WDR Big Band: Jazz is in the air!

Kudos to WDR for hosting Joan Chamorro and his kids. On nothing less than Bird's Donna Lee. Joan does an amazing job on nurturing young talent. If the EU has a Educator of the Year award, Joan Chamorro deserves one.

Yes très sympa, super solo de Ben au sax ténor.. Par contre n'hésitez pas à aller écouter la version d'Art Pepper (même arrangement du fameux Marty Paich) sur l'album "Art Pepper + eleven".. 😉
