    NOTE: High-precision Current Sense (90A continuous, 220A peak) so I wouldn't run it for more than 90 amps for long. See link for full specs.

      Onboard voltage measurement is less than the supply can be. So might not be able to measure a voltage that is legal to supply. Sounds nutty....

    Hi Lee, Great video and review of the Holybro H-743, I like the Holybro products and this flight controller looks great. Thanks again for the video and information.

    Its like a Matek H743V2. Kakute makes solid stuff ! I would buy that in a hear beat. I wish the USB dongle had a build in buzzer and buzzer switch like Mat has 😛 Cheers from Canada partner ! lol

    Is there a way to use 12s with this? Can I bypass the flight controller, use a 200A esc for the throttle, and use a buck converter to power the controller from the battery. Is that possible?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 місяців тому +1

      Maybe, that's not something I play with here... Best of luck

      Let me rephrase: can you power it separately from the esc battery, and do you need to use the ESC output? If you don’t then the above should work.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 місяців тому

      No, you shouldn't need it to power the ESC output but the PCB will need a voltage within range to use to create the 5v etc. that it needs to run... Best of luck!

    Hi Lee, I have a question! Is it OK that there is no a shock absorber on the Kakute H743, like yellow rubber tubes installed on SpeedyBee F405 Wing?

      Many flight controllers don't use any form of vibration isolation, and they work great greatM Happy flying

    Lee, I am building a large quadcopter (Tarot 650 Sport) and had planned to use an APM2.8 controller but have been having problems trying to find a version of Mission Planner that runs on Windows 11 and will connect. It appears such a combination doesn't exist. So, either I find an XP machine (or install a virtual XP on my laptop), or go to another flight controller. This HolyBro looks appealing! Would you recommend it for running Arducopter? Or would you suggest another flight controller?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  10 місяців тому

      APM is very outdated 8-bit hardware. Don't use it now. Last version of Ardupilot that supported it was 3.2.1 and we are now on 4.4... Best of luck!

    Hey Lee, i appreciate the review, but can you give your opinion about this FC compared to the Matek H743-Wing V3? i am currently looking and considering between the two FC to be used on my Holybro 433 mhz 100mW telemetry in a high speed fixed wing build, thanks for your attention Lee :)

      I've not flown either of them enough to feel happy to speak from an 'expert' position. Both companies have a reputation for solid hardware and the build quality looks very good on both. I find that a look in the forums for hoe many pilots are reporting issues is a good way to see how they are performing in the early days of something coming out.. Best of luck!

    For the price that is a very good board with alot of features, one third of the price of a cube and tbh, if you can save 40 quid for a speedybee you can save another 40 quid and get one of those. Much better. Cheers 👋

    I notice that when you remove these flight controllers from their anti static bags, you never seem to be wearing an anti static wrist band connected to ground. Is this because it is not necessary? or would you advocate using one? Just curious as I do a lot with mosfets etc which are highly susceptible to damage from static.

    • @Painless360

      This has always intrigued me as well. I’ve watched hundreds of videos about flight controllers from some very knowledgeable people and not one has ever worn an anti static wrist strap.
      If I ever did that at work I would be immediately reprimanded.
      We are taught that static damage isn’t always immediately apparent, as it can weaken components and make them prone to failure down the line.

    • @skelethornbro
      @skelethornbro 11 місяців тому

      More static will be generated while plane is flying. I guess anti static bags is to make sure that the damages from the static is not from the manufacturer if there any.

      @@Painless360 Ok thanks for replying. I shall probably err on the side of caution though as my workbench already has an earthed work surface and AS wristband connected it's just force of habit that was drummed into me years ago at Uni.

    I got Kakute H743 Wing, and for some reason if I put the RX on UART6, it doesn't work.
    it works on UART7, UART3, UART2, UART8, but not on UART6.
    any idea why that would be the case? RX is ELRS.
    I have 2 Kakute, and samething on both. so it's not bad solder.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Місяць тому

      Not all UARTs are created equally. Some have DMA and that ia needed for things like CRSF...see ua-cam.com/video/_j1LNaFdSqE/v-deo.html
