In this Outer Worlds video, we take you through all five science weapons in the game, completing the quest 'Weapons From The Void'. Let us know if you found the one on Groundbreaker to be confusing at first!
The Outer Worlds is a first-person action role-playing game set in a world where megacorporations have started colonizing and terraforming planets far from Earth. The game takes place in the Halcyon system, where the player awakes from cryosleep, soon discovering that most of the passengers on their ship are still in hibernation. With a strong focus on roleplaying, the player is able to make choices that cause the plot to change as they progress through the game. The Outer Worlds features well-written dialogue and lore, with the various factions, planets, characters and their interactions bringing the world to life. The Outer Worlds is developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Take-Two Interactive's publishing label: Private Division.

1:43 shrink ray 2:44 groundbreaker 5:08 mandibular rearranger 6:10 gloop gun 7:28 mind control ray I put timestamps here just so you don't have to find the science weapon you're looking for in the video
Thank you many much
legend
When the camera pans in the right direction doesn't it look like he's fighting fire geckos :) God I miss you New Vegas
Science weapons are one of the things I like most about The Outer Worlds, they're definitely worth the effort it takes to get them, plus they're fun to use.
Mid gun is the most fun to use IMO
Mage-Berserker build. Truly terrifying in any game.
The prismatic hammer acts very different with my high science character. It's basically a ranged weapon.
My character had a really good range on the hammer with their science skill.
I'm having a lot of fun with The Outer Worlds so far. I have Parvati using the Shrink Ray and it's a blast.
loving this outer worlds content. waiting for a build to start my new play through
I came across the groundbreaker science weapon by accident after reading an infopad on a dead guy in the waste disposal area about possible loot behind those beds. XD
easily a solid 10/10 game but I wish there was more science weapons, My build feels a little unimpressive after finding out there's just 5
Maybe if they fix all of the exploits and bugs
Colin Sobbing lmao what? In all of my time playing I’ve had less bugs than playing any Bethesda game for half an hour.
Science weapons is not all. There are many other unique variants of the games huge arsenal to aquire with beefed up stats that makes them even more powerful.
@@braedenduggar913 Same here; I've never encountered a bug in ~25 hours.
Colin, what bugs? I haven't had any. And as far as exploits there is were two for infinite bits. They fixed one on console.
I love that blood skaal blade reference you made absolute gold.
I can hear your microphone crying out in pain with that intro 🤣 Jesus, man.
Scared the shit out of me too
Right? Way too loud.
direct and to the point good one.
My Science Weapons research - bear in mind, I did this all with 100 science and both of the science weapons perks.
Ray Gun - POWERFUL if you have a high science skill, especially so if you have Weird and Wild Science Perks. This weapon I dare say qualifies as OP as you can even make Scrap Automechanicals a joke; their attacks become pitiful and most will die fast, and even those who don't don't usually take long. This is because not only does it shrink enemies and weaken their armor, but it takes weakened armor in account as it continues to pummel them. If you have a high science build, this weapon is all too tempting to make your go-to weapon.
The Prismatic Hammer is *THE* OP weapon of this game and will no doubt get nerfed. It's powerful with a high science skill, but if you get access to two handed power attacks it makes short work of just about everything. I've yet to encounter anything that can stand up to the weapon.
The Mandibular Rearranger is a fun little weapon, but I'm not sure how practical it is. Melee combat in the game is tenuous as is, but this weapon offers very little beyond freezing people you hit, which prevents one person from hitting you, but not much else.
The Gloop Gun is a weapon I really wanted to like, but it is highly impractical. It chews through ammo at such a rate that renders it highly inefficient for extended use, and its levetation effect doesn't last long enough to make great use of. It seems it's a weapon designed specifically for you to lob a ball of gloop and then switch to an actual combat weapon. Enemies in this game also appear smart enough to spread out, so it's rare you'll ever get more than one enemy with this weapon. As much as I love the idea of this gun, I find it's too inefficient to make extended use of, as even if you have more energy ammo than you know what to do with, at 10 ammo per shot, this gun can still eat it all.
The Mind Control Gun is a hit or miss weapon. Against most foes it's amazing, not only giving you a temporary ally but burning their health away in the process so that they likely won't last long enough to be an issue later. The problem mostly lies in the fact that when it's faced with a foe that moves around a lot and very quickly, as they can break out of its range, at which point it becomes more hassle than it's worth. It also doesn't help that its slow reload time makes it difficult to handle anything that survives when your clip runs dry. It's best used with slow enemies who you can trust will either be dead by the end of its clip, or will remove a few hostiles allowing you to finish it off with a better weapon.
Give the Gloop gun and the Mind control gun to the companions and you have the CC build of the game.
@@TheHcH4 what about the Shrink Ray
@@Khan-_-Art1st Honestly I never tried that. I had a high science level but the Shrink Ray was more like a debuff weapon than a CC one. But next time I give it a shot.
Don’t forget to upgrade and bring Vicar Max for %20 more science damage.
The gloop gun is good for escaping situations
Can't wait for the new builds
I managed to find the datapad on Groundbreaker left by one of the dead guys, in the garbage disposal thing or whatever it is, I found it very quickly and accidentally while looking around. Then I spent the next two hours trying to figure out where in the goddamn the "Mardet's quarters" were. When I found it I felt pretty dumb.
Oh science build is exciting! The back story for that build has to be amazing! Kid winning science fairs and then what causes him/her to leave earth???? Cant wait!
LOVE the hammer. Best melee weapon I've used since Atom's Judgement. I just wish there were more Science Weapons to choose from. I hope we get more if The Outer Worlds gets DLC or a sequel.
Or they can just update the game..
@@cheesybeans5304 ya thankfully this is NOT a fucking live service game where they just out out updates with weapons and skins. God forbid we actually got a full and proper game, with great DLC to boot
Sweet, thanks! I feel like Science/companion buffs is gonna be a great build.
Just give Vicar shrinking gun and frozen club. Even without buffs Vicar has high science level.
It's like is back 2017 with your Fallout 4 videos. I came to know of your channel because of your Mechanist build, remember?
I’m sure you’ve got this planned already but I would love a companion guide from you guys
Parvatia is the best of all companions with the best quest imo, the vicar is my least favorite
MERCENARIE GUY totally agree. Parvati is a mainstay in my party, obsidian definitely took the most care with her.
@@harryjcross try killing her crush, I actually felt bad, the voice actor is so amazing
MERCENARIE GUY I’ll definitely try that sometime
@@jackmulford6509 I ain't hurting best girl, girl. She too precious to see her gf die
THIS IS A BANGER OF A GAME!!!
great video
The way the shrink ray shoots reminds me of the morph-o-ray from ratchet and clank
Much of this game reminds me of the worlds from ratchet and clank
Thanks for the clarification. I invested high in science but wasnt sure what was considered a science weapon. Clearly I have not found one yet because the little science pop-up hasnt shown up yet.
Imagine using the mind control ray on the final enemy of the game.
How mind control robot?
I did on RAM, it worked. Until the drones spawn and fuck up your day lmao
I haven't got it yet but the mind Control Ray sounds like the most perfect of weapons.
Right? Just shoot the biggest guy in the room
Its better when you give it to a companion
I can already see the build potential
End game Primatic Hammer is just godly with TTD perks. Screw being slow n' sneaky. Barrel into a room full of enemies with movement perks and crouch just before you swing. You can move so quickly you can get two sneak attack swings in before the enemy detection meter even fills up. Pair that with a critical build and healing skills like Tit for Tat, and you've got possibly the most OP build in the game.
I recommend giving the first and third weapons to Vicar , since he has high science skill.
@Diana Litvinova vicar can't get science skill bigger than 90. Why I recommend especially these weapons, because he can be good support who debuffs enemies
@@user-gz5qc7oh2s i would do that but spacers choice wants to kill me. D:
I love how it’s called GLOOP GUN 😂
I'm a 2 faced science nerd with a knack for long ranged weapons 👍
This video would be extra appreciated if it was times stamped on each its great that you this tho , still liked, you do, great informative videos... I can't seem to find anything on a healing gun I've seen in gopher's OW vids , which is why I came here ....
8:36 Like SAM. Best Robot of the month ever!
I do want to say that the Prismatic Hammer with at least 20 2 hand and max science plus the wierd/wild science perks is disgustingly OP from some of the videos I've seen, it's very possible it could get nerfed because it can trivialize a supernova run.
The mind control gun is just amazing on a folower... :)
m3divh L
Welp the groundbreaking missions are going to be a lot harder for me... because I killed everyone over a moon man helmet.
As good a reason as any... :P
Had no idea about the data pads till watching this video. Found these by just exploring...
Lol you and juice uploaded the same video within 10 minutes of each other, coincidence?
Just finished my first play trough and am now accivement hunting
So far I've killed every faction on monarch, Earth and wiped out taurus with a revolver
Got the goop weapon this morning. Really easy to get.
How do you get the keycard to unlock the computer?
In the same building but on the second floor. It's on one of the tables with the broken terminals. Just gotta look closely for it. Quite easy to miss at first.
I think it was meant to be somewhat easy. It was to show the players these guns exist.
I hope you guys make a melee build. Maybe something that relies on your companions to all gang up on enemies.
So great that we have a new game to jumpstart the content on this channel. It was looking a little bleak with the tons of things we want from ES6 videos, 90% of which is bound to be wishful thinking given Bethesdas trajectory
Where did you get a card for the terminal?
The main campaing is far more interesting when you work for Sophia.
Let’s get to some builds!!!
Can anyone tell me what exactly constitutes a science weapon? If I put a mod with shock damage on a sniper, does that turn it into a science weapon?
100 heavy weapon skill, 100 science skill, both the rank 2 and rank 3 science weapon damage perks, and Max's unique science damage perk make the Gloop gun the strongest in the game, easily
Does the Mandibular Rearranger actually rearrange bones if you hit someone in the face with it?
I'm also looking for a video or site that shows how all of the armor looks.
The joke is that you are hitting them with the ugly stick. It distorts their face.
Imma be splashing goop everywhere, I'm going to make a new character named Jackson Pollock
That explains that damn jingle played when using the mind control ray 😁
i think the mind control weapon is the funniest one.
Yeah it cracks me up maybe change its effect to a time duration though, love this game and glad FudgeMuppet chose to cover it, cheers 👍
The Gloop gun is the most amazing crowd control weapon in the entire game. It's freaking amazing. Don't listen to the nay sayers. Not only does it do crowd control, but it has splash damage. Get that Science to 100 and you can also keep the gun level maxed because the cost to upgrade science weapons is capped at only 200 bits per level. GET IT
takes a lot of ammo with short range so it's not viable but fun to use.
Help where do I find that keycard
Btw when u get to the secret risso lab u can also bring SAM to defuse the situation and btw again my favourite weapon is the mind control Ray gun
If you build for mele build and max science with the hammer you will one hit everything except final boss which takes 3 hits and you will start one hitting everything around level 9-12 it is amazing
I gave the gloop gun + rearranger to parvati, which turned her into a really strong stun-support
As far as I remember, none of the companions have a science skill. Are they still affective?
Can't wait to get this on switch
I think I went into felixs little stow away room next to the O.R. about six times before I looked the hammer up lol
This game is looking pretty good.
how do you get the key to UDL LAB?
My build is a Charming Heavy gunner build.
this is great and all but the goopgun he doesnt tell you how do i get the keycard to chastitys hideaway? there isnt a single video about it
Was absolutely loving this game until I came across a potentially game breaking bug today. When I attempt to go through a particular door on the final planet my game crashes every single time. What's weird though is that if I shoot the person inside the room before going inside it doesn't crash, but I don't really want to do this for story and roleplay reasons. Has anyone come across this and knows a way around it?
How do you fix the udl card to take the quiz?
It's on a table in the room directly above the lab, it's just lightly disguised by clutter.
I 2 hit final boss with the prismatic hammer. so yeah it's pretty strong
Oh man there’s gonna be an ant man build isn’t there XD that shrink Ray is just too cool
Even with 100 Science the damage on the Shrink Ray ain't great at all. Mostly good for the debuff and focus fire from companions. Use it on the biggest, nastiest enemy in the bunch while your companions deal with the small fry.
@@otakon17 he said that in the vid
otakon17 also too have ur companion use the gloop gun nd just shoot the target in the air it makes the game so easy I bet really easy on supernova mode
Nobody:
Michael: Dawtuh pads
@@yegor2 Learn how to pronounce your own language then.
So I've been playing it for a while and I feel like the best build is to put good in all of your first stats so they're all equal right away level out inspiration to 60 if you're running with companions if not always do dialogue hacking lock-picking those ones and obviously science by the time you're level eight you could have your stats so jacked up on these ones anyways where your companions can kill everything you can talk your way through everything just for extra experience and then once you get that hammer keep jacking the science to a hundred the game is ruined by the time you hit Level 12-13 I almost feel like they need a Nerf for this because it's that op
I'm playing this on Switch; still a great game; but after seeing this video I need to get another laptop lol
Isnt there more science weapons tho ? I think i have 6 of them.
When I go to get the gloop gun The computers locked behind level 100 hacking???
I just did a maxed dialog character bc in all the other fallouts i always attacked haha
LMAO ... subbed for the name alone
I got all 4 by simply exploring the maps. Haven't got the mind control ray though..
I'm 30 hours in and just realized you can give these to companions. So they can stun enemies for you.
Must protect the chair man
I personally love the inferno scythe
For some reason none of my science weapons are working.... Its consumes ammo but doesn't fire anything 😕😕
Gloop gun looks similar to Junk Jet
What happens if u sold a science gun? I cant find one that i picked up
James Bush Maaan i don’t know lol i got all of them but the one u get on groundbreaker. That’s the one i either sold, dropped or broke down
Who else you the cannibal sword? It's pretty dope
Is there anyway to actually play the game with the final mission finished?
Nope
The mond control ray's the best fucking weapon in their game lmao
Give Shrink Ray and Gloop Gun for you companions and just see the results i commend.
Sam also defuses the robots
I was pretty disappointed about the lack of weapons, lol, really hope this game does get amazing mod tools and a modding community as big as Fallout/Elder Scrolls, I'd love a solid quality 50+ unique weapons pack like Millenia makes.
I'm on X box one and after like 1000 attempts to make the jump to the platform I had to give up. Are you using a jump cheat on PC?
Sprint, then TTD, and finally jump. That worked for me on vanilla PC.
@@Keleigh3000 Thank you, I finally got my husband to do it for me, I was jumping too early. It would be helpful to be able to switch to third person sometimes to see where you were in relation to certain things.
@@michellepartridge8558 Yeah, I don't normally like playing in 3rd person, but it can definitely help with jumping puzzles (I hate jumping puzzles).
@@Keleigh3000 me too
i've killed gladys can i stll get the other weapons
Assuming you still need an answer, yes. Most of the weapons only require you to unlock the planet they're on. The Rearranger is the only one that is locked off until you start a quest.
found the hammer by accident by just noticing the yellow crates above the sleeping pods and being a greedy bastard
I wish plasma weapons were covered in Science
In this game, I'm fine with them not being counted, because plasma is like a stand-in element for fire damage, dealing more damage to unarmored beasties. There's also shock (anti-mechanical) and corrosives (anti-armor) you'd have to count as science, too, if plasma did.
@metalfaust19 your right.
already found the gloop gun on accident lol
lol same
Yeah the rearranger was not in that container for me
Sam can also defuse the robots
This game needs more weapons
I wish the Shrink Ray had a longer duration, even having my companions focus fire on the affected enemy doesn't seem very useful. Still love the effect though.
It's a shrink ray, you can't just shoot the target once and then swap, unless you have a really powerful one-shot weapon. You need to hold the beam on the target and keep hitting it to keep it shrunken.
I use it to kill Mantiqueens easily.
@@Reddotzebra I know I just wish it had a longer duration so I could do that. The Shrink effect wears off almost instantly the moment you stop using it. TTD helps but still feels like they could have done more with it.
@@otakon17 It actually helped me take down every enemy I had problems with... What was your Science and Medicine skills like? Science massively buffs the effects of science weapons and medicine adds duration to status effect attacks.
@@Reddotzebra yeah the status effect gets stronger but the duration is only as long as you're firing the gun at the target. So what happens is you play a debuffer while you have to rely on your companions to kill it. Great for one strong foe, but most enemies you fight hunt in groups of 4 or more in my experience. Even with the perks ans 100 Science, the damage of the Shrink Ray ain't anything to rave about.
Nice video, but you should have reset your character and maxed out science, to show the true potential of these weapons.
This game is truly a mix of bioshock and borderlands plus fallout NV
Can't get in the door for the heavy weapon
My mind control rifle kinda turned into a heatray on my max science playthrough... I don't think it's supposed to incinerate people...
if you only use the charge attack of the primatic hammer it becomes objectively the best weapon in the game, i deal over 9000 damage with it
......over 9000 you say?
Its' over 9000
