These never get old. For those that would say "this would never work today" I say, that back then the competition knew what Lombardi was going to run and still could'nt stop it because of the execution and precision that his teams utilized.
Awesome video. I wish more NFL teams emphasized the running game like this today. No one runs a split backfield anymore. Guards are too big and heavy today to get out and lead the power sweep. Teams still execute trap blocks and misdirection plays, but there is so much pistol and shotgun today.
I feel sorry for Gale Gillingham. What brains, strength and speed. It’s such a shame he only had a couple of years under Lombardi. He was totally miscoached under Devine. He could have been the greatest guard in history.
