He never blew it he just made us all realise how precious life is and to not take anything for granted. You will never be seen as a victim of hiv but as a champion in a sport we all love. Sleep well champ I hope you finally found peace.
I've just watched the documentary again today...after all that pain, rest in peace Warrior. he'll always be one of my favorite boxer. Can't blame him, he lived his live that's it, life is short and so hard everyday. Take a rest champ'
so wait a second, did he or did he not have AIDS? Heard he died a while back, then that he was alive again, and now he died? so which is it? Serious question.
He died 8 years ago. He tested positive in 96, then in the years following the tests were incompetent and he tested negative repeatedly. His license was revoked then reinstated......he had a career, but that announcement greatly diminished his staying power. his heart gave out in 2013. Bear in mind, Morrison's HIV tests are questions of credibility and scrutiny to this day and for us fans, these are difficult and complex questions. I am led to believe that he did have HIV-AIDS because back in those days (90s), some athletes were still engaging in reckless behavior. Tommy was no different and should not have his legacy thrashed, mainly because it's taken enough of a beating.
@@nvkellz4873 You can quite easily test negative if you take your HIV medication. Your viral count will be low and you're almost 0 % chance transmissible. When you look at him how he looked prior to his death + that his cardiac arrest came from MULTIPLE organ failure, you can see that he had full blown AIDS by then. Especially when you look at how rapidly he decayed in the last few years.

Theirs something profound about that comment considering Tommy’s demons were very much outside the ring
"Yeah? Let's do it!" - Tommy Gunn.

Tommy's whole identity was boxing and living out of control lifestyle he did not want to do anything else.
He could ACTUALLY fight though that was the thing about Tommy

He did a more modern test in the 2000s and tested negative, he died from cardiac arrest at 44 yrs old.
@Jeroen also he wouldn't have stopped boxing if it was false
