- Today we have a build for Danny Rand, Marvel's Immortal Iron Fist, Protects of K'un-Lun, Living Weapon, Sworn Enemy of the Hand in Dungeons & Dragons! If you want to punch people as a monk with magic fists, this is a D&D 5e build for you!

Fun facts about the Iron Fist, there have been 30+ Iron Fists before Danny Rand, his immediate predecessor as Iron Fist preferred to channel his chi through two semiautomatic handguns to Iron Fist hit people further away, though the guy also stole the Iron Fist's book of secret techniques, so Danny didn't learn that move until the 2010s, Danny once sank a helicarrier with the Iron Fist to save Luke Cage from the Green Goblin, and Danny has killed gods with the Iron Fist.
Don't give the 'kensei monk with a gun' crowd any more ideas I'm already scared enough

Really enjoy the dip into ranger, not just because it gives you a Falcon Punch early on for a taste of that Quivering Palm, but makes you a better team player, which is one of the things good monk users never seem to get enough credit for
This is either gonna be a straight monk or some wild multiclass madness that uses ABSOLUTELY no monk levels and I cannot wait to find out which!

In honor of the new series having started filming recently, what about a Percy Jackson build? I’d love to see how you’d adapt Demigod abilities in 5E
Honestly, Percy swings swords and controls water. Eldritch knight does both of that. Personally you could just go 20 levels in eldritch knight, grab stuff like shape water, water wall, control water, etc and just be Percy.
Or if you want something more complex, a druid/paladin fits too. You do get some of his healing capabilities, and control over the mists and weather etc. But we never see him transform into an animal, so i wouldn't generally go for it

This is actually better than my theory, which was Monk/Paladin with the smites being the Iron Fist Technique. Given, many ideas are better than that theory because for some reason smites don't work with your hands....
Heck, I'd let that multiclass happen and let them smite with fists. You took all the minimums ability scores to get this? Sure, go crazy.
If a DM doesn't let a Monkadin smite with their fist, they're lame.

Honestly I still consider that ruling bullshit. There are some rulings that I'm annoyed with but fine okay. But their claim of fists not being weapons for the sake of anything but monk abilities is just them making Monk the least multi-classable class in a game where at least one 2-3 level dip is pretty much always better then not having one. It just unnecessarily singles out Monk as the only job that has strictly bad dips. Warlock dip isn't good (because they can't get charisma with fists), paladin dip isn't good(no smites with fists), anything that explicitly says weapon or weapon attacks just doesn't work for them. Or you can not be a dumbass and accept that their using fists as a weapon means it counts for all those various class abilities or at worst create a new 1d4 monk weapon of 'Gauntlets' that let you count all those things as working and still counts as being unarmed for monk abilities, then simply accept that all monks will get gauntlets or brass knuckles or whatever from then on because it doesn't weaken them and lets them get enchanted versions.
I looked it up onD&D Beyond. Stunning strike uses the EXACT SAME wording (“Melee Weapon Attack”) as Divine Smite. So if a Monk’s unarmed attack counts for a melee weapon for Stunning Strike, it should work for Divine Smite. Jeremy Crawford’s ruling doesn’t make sense.

YES! I've always wanted to a see a Monk/Ranger multi-class that uses Horizon Walker for a BIG punch.

I love how more references were to the MCU iron fist but all the clips were from Ultimate spiderman.
The new Iron Fist Lin Lei has some fancy sword moves he can use; it'd be cool if he sticks around long enough to earn his own video!

I'd have switched Charisma and Intelligence, as I always picture Danny as one of the Marvel universe's top himbos, but otherwise a great build as always!
Eh, I think the lower charisma is fine. Iron Fist is usually portrayed as being the straight guy to offset Spidey and Luke's comedy, spouting wisdom that sounds vaguely profound

A fist so strong to punch through an entire helicarrier in a way that even Saitama would be proud is a feat that need the power of peak martial arts... And a dragon god, that goes without saying.
Daniel Thomas Rand began it's interaction with the mystic arts as young as nine years old,manage to become a prodigy on martial arts to finally plunge it's fist on the molten heart of a dead god...sure absurdity aside that sounds about right for the man that can punch down a drunken Hulk! (I might need to train just as hard to finally gain Sr Tulok's Tangle the lemur build) With focus to face the worst even in your weakest state, Danny show what a hero is made... While being near his more popular pal early on, we don't want to miss his story for a cancellation, don't we?
Monk w/Hunter's Mark is really good.
I am playing a homebrew monk subclass and took Fey Touched Tasha's feat getting Hunter's Mark and misty step. Damage and maneuverability at level 4, Daaaamn. ;)

I've seen Iron First use the hand aura as a light source before! Needs a low tier light spell.
Tip for monk players: If you take the unarmed fighting style through feats or multiclassing, then you’ll get a d6 or a d8 instead of the measly d4 for your punches.

I kind of expected the little something extra to be Paladin levels to add a few Smites to the old Iron Fist.
How to build: The Shredder, Oroku Saki, from the TMNT Franchise in DND. Leave a like and comment to dine on turtle soup.
intro: Footloose
Goals for this Build:
1. Ninjutsu: A leader of a criminal ninja organization needs to do ninjustu.
2. Armored combat: You are a heavily armored ninja and a master of fighting multiple turtle men at once.
3. Super Shredder: When all else fails you need to juice up with some green goop for some Freak v. Freak action.
Race: Variant Human, there have been multiple variations of Shredder but we're going with the original human version, no evil spirit or utrom here.
Class Combos: Fighter is going to be a must, although shredder is quick and nimble like a monk and skilled in hand to hand, he is a walking slackchop in heavy armor. Throw in a spell caster if you want some ninja magic or just stick to a purely martial build, as I said there have been many variations of the Shredder; from alien conqueror, mystic demon, immortal warlord and mecha suit crime boss.
Stats:
1. Dex: Your reflexes are sharp and finely tuned, able to go toe to toe with Teenage Turtles and billionaire Bats.
2. Con: Despite your many deaths, like a phoenix you rise from the ashes. Or in your case a human that gets crushed by a garbage truck and is somehow alive in the sequel.
3. Wis: You're the avid student of the way of the Ninja, either an ancient feudal lord or the world's edgiest and toughest weeaboo
4. Stre: Your packing some serious power behind those punches and kicks, but nothing any normal human can dish out, until you bust out the Ooze.
5. Char: Your as cuddly as a cheese grater
6. Int: You have the IQ of the average 80's cartoon villain.

Personally I’ve always felt that Iron first is more of a Monk/Paladin multiclass but I didn’t think about ranger, interesting choice
Can't smite with unarmed unless your GM overrides the official rule, which they should.

I would love to see you create a jujutsu kaisen character. Preferably someone like megumi, though it seems hard since I could only think of altering sorcerer spells like booming blade or blink.

You could point out that d6+d8 is honestly better than a hypothetical d14 would be, since the lowest it can roll is 2 and the mid-range are far more likely than the extremes, making it more consistent. Pointing out that you're _underselling_ it will hopeful shut up the pedants. It won't, but we can hope.

Honestly? That's a nice build, although imo Zephyr strike wold be better option between ZS and Hunter's Mark.
Zs only last untill you hit. Hm last until concentration is dropped every round, on all attacks (Weapon attacks if not wrong)

TMNT iron fist crossover? TMNT is already a parody spinoff of daredevil: not only was the ooze originally the container that blinded Murdoch, they oppose the foot clan (the hand), they train under Splinter (daredevils mentor is stick), it makes less sense that it's usually dc they crossover with

Aka: Despite having the power to kill even a Tarrasque in a good day, most dragons can still screw you up if your DM play into THEIR strengths, strategy wise!
Just Watch Circle of Strife video from Counter Monkey to see how much of a hassle it is to fight a dragon if the DM plays them smart while your party is strong but don't have much in ranged attacks...
My DM doesn't do a very good job with that and our Paladin/sorcerer just kills every dragon we fight. We're only level 10 and we have like 5 dragon heads.

3 times a day? Nah, Quivering Palm might as well be unlimited. Ki points come back on short rests, and coincidentally, that's when your enemies disappear.
Iron Fist is a way of mercy Monk , not hand.

i love monk + hunters mark. but its so bonus action heavy i dont think it would be very functional. every time you move hunters mark you'd have to forego flurry of blows. which means you wouldn't be able to use open hand technique (level 3 monk) ability. Love your videos, would have to test this build out though to see if it works in game.
Personally for ranger fighting style, I'd just take blind fighting if I'm committed wholly to punching. (Spoilers: I'm not)

Now that my bit is over, I just wanna say the Iron Fist show felt forced. Every other line he says is “I am the Iron Fist yada yada”. It genuinely just felt like Iron Fist Season 1 was wasted on building up The Hand more in order for them to make sense for Defenders. Season 2? Extremely fun.
The Hand is just the biggest problem the Netflix shows have in my opinion.
