@@legrac-m3k In the original DC comic book this was based on, Lucifer was inspired by David Bowie The producers realized they could never cast anyone like David Bowie (for obvious reasons), so they decided to go in the complete opposite direction in hiring Ellis, so people wouldn't be thinking that it was just a 'Bowie-lite.'

Lucifer makes a point of the fact that he never lies. You may not like what he's telling you, and you may choose not to believe it, however, he never lies.
Curiously enough, this is probably the only episode (that I remember) where he actually lies, when he says she's been asleep for 3 years. Yeah it was just a joke, but you know, he "never" lies.

One thing that The Expanse and Lucifer have in common is that both were cancelled by their original network, but saved by a streaming service due to tremendous fan response.
Just want to say. The Lucifer cast is probably one of the most appropriate sexy casts out there. They are supposed to be adults. Unlike "CW" getting 20's models to be high school students. Plus the Lucifer cast are experienced and skilled to pull off what they wanted.
Nope, the first one was the best, watched it multiple times, second was ok, third I was unable to finish, fourth had some interesting themes to it but I couldn't get into it, fifth and sixth I didn't bother with
I think my favourite tidbit about this show is that Tom Ellis and Lauren German actually act more like the other's characters behind the scenes. Tom is more serious and focused and Lauren was the goofball cracking jokes XD
Season 6 isn't as bad as people say. Just designed a bit differently because they got renewed last minute. Which also meant some of the actors had other jobs conflicting with the schedule.
Season 1 and especially the pilot episode was an absolute perfection. It was something entirely different from the whole series. And tom ellis was killing it since second one to the last of this episode. one second was all it took to convince everyone that he is infact the devil.
The concept for this version of Lucifer first appears in Neil Gaiman's Sandman (which tells the story of how he eventually ends up in L.A.). It's not a direct adaptation of his further adventures that his own comic series had him on, but the idea of the honest (who truly despise being called the Prince of Lies), charming, fallen angel that is Lucifer Morningstar definitely took its beginnings from Gaiman's source material. Glad you've picked this up, it's a fun one 🙂
The comic book characters image was very heavily based on David Bowie, Lux plays more than a bit of Bowie in the background including 'Fame' in this episode.

It is also extremely addictive - really, really hard not to act on the urge to binge watch. These writers are masters of misdirection, and are most skilled at torturing the audience too.
I almost don't even consider it a police procedural. The crime solving really is there to support advancing Lucifer's story, rather than being the primary point of the show.
@@chanelle5889 You are correct. I was attempting to simplify my comment. The cases that are presented and solved are devices to display and explore the inner workings of the main characters, rather than illuminating police detective work. It's more like illuminating the inner workings of both humans and celestials. Like this episode, Lucifer sees this innocent pop star gunned down, learns it's for greed and pursues the bad guy. He is further intrigued by Chloe and displays a sense of caring again when she is shot. So the "crime" was a way to have Lucifer explore a part of himself he may not have experienced before, and thus we advance his story and character development.

Lucifer's Corvette is a '62. The '61 & '62 models were the bridge between the first gen 1953-1960 and the second gen 1963-1967. The front end looks like the first gen C1, while the rear end is similar to the second gen C2. But they are considered part of the first gen C1 models. This was My 1st time watching one of your Reaction Videos, Anna! I Loved It! Lucifer is one of My favorite Shows, and not many Reactors have reviewed it! I'm looking forward to re-taking My journey though "Lucifer" with You!
The 6th season is like any other last season of a show. Nothing crazy new happens unless it directly helps tie up loose ends. Any show that last this long is bound to have dud episodes. I don't remember them (i probably just blocked them out). There were story arcs i could have done without.
This was my favorite show, back in the day. A couple of things - this series is based on a comic book series from Vertigo, not the bible. So what you know about Satan, Hell and whatnot from the bible are not necessarily in play in this series. When FOX cancelled the series, the production team and the writers all got new jobs... So by the time Netflix picked up the series the writers room had mostly left. I think this is the cause of the problems with the Netflix version of the show. Loved the series, I think you will too. Lucifer's character is a bit much most of the time... I think that's his role to be the comic foil for Detective Decker. In promotional interviews Tom Ellis did for the show, he said that the dialogue was mostly on the page, with very little adjustments or ad lib from them...
I'm so excited that you're starting Lucifer. I've wanted to watch this for a long time but I kept putting it off. Well, I absolutely can't resist anymore if YOU'RE reacting to it. Sign me up. I'm onboard. Let's do this. 😁🤗
@@johnniequinn3215I'll just be watching Anna's UA-cam reactions. I don't like watching shows/movies alone and she's one of my favorite people to enjoy them with (virtually).
A nice first reaction luv, but what has made me subscribe to your channel is the fact you knew the car he was driving. Keep going you will love these characters. Not sure if you ever watched the arrowverse, but Lucifer is a Dark Horse/DC character, so he makes the odd cameo alongside the awesome John Constantine in that universe.
Basically, he was dammed for showing mercy to Adam and Eve, thrown into the pit. Then humans started turning up, because they believed they deserved punishment and hell started to spawn demons to do the punishing (with Lilith's children being slightly different, but the source of some). Lucifer conquered them,(because he's DC's 3rd most powerful,) but beyond thinking it was God's will, didn't care about torture.
@@TheArcSetBrilliant answer 👏 but don't you think the supposed big man should lead by example and have forgiveness for his son and let him come back home 😂😂
Welcome to one of the best series of the last ten years. Have fun with it, Tom Ellis is great. 😂 Btw season 6 is also very funny, maybe it didn't have the ratings as before, but depite of this I liked it. 😊
In fairness to season 6, the show runners initial plan was to end the series in season 6 and were forced to make another season by Netflix, so the creative incentive was lacking, and that season was produced under pandemic restrictions, so they had their hands tied. Even with all that, there are a couple of positives to it.
Lucifer and Amendiel (as well as other celestials) is undefined in the early episodes, some abilities like Lucifer bringing the shooter back from the brink of death are forgotten by the second season
Trust me Anna it gets better from here. I watch every episode up until season 4. The only reason I stopped there is because I had some personal issues. But I am going to go back and watch the final three. My favorite scene of the whole series was when Trixie met Lucifer for the first time. The actress that played Trixie was adorable but not bratty. But like so many child actors she hit puberty and became unbelievable as a character.
I wanted to dislike it based on the differences from the TPB, but they adapted the characters in such an interesting way that the show became a different type of favorite to me.
Welcome to the Lucifer family Anna. I have watched MANY shows, and there are few as good as Lucifer for characters, stories and connectivity. Babylon 5 gets there easily, Deep space 9 to go trek, Stargate Atlantis gets up there. Farscape for characters for SURE. Enjoy the ride, It's umm, Hellishly good!!
I love how Trixie is the only one who seems to recognise that the name Lucifer belongs to the devil. Everyone else just seems to accept it as a matter of course.
This is one of my all-time favorite shows. My really catholic mother started watching it last year, and she LOVES it. I mean who wouldn't say no to the devil if it looked like Tom Ellis? The only show, to me, that rivals this (and ultimately does take the crown) is Good Omens... But then again.... THIS Lucifer is pretty much based off of Neil Gaimans work... So I guess I can love them equally
Its so funny that he always says the truth and people just don't believe it and they have a problem with it when they find out when he is saying something that it turns out it's really true.
It's a great series that only improves as it moves away from "case of the week" and explores the wider mystery. It takes a while to get there but it's a fun journey.
Glad to see you doing this show! I love your analysis, but you watch a lot of shows I simply have no interest in. No shade, I'm picky about some weird stuff. I'm so happy to have reactions of yours to watch again. ;)
Hey Girl, was just scrolling through the page and saw you were doing this reaction. And thought I had better hop on the wine train and yeah have seen the show but hey always fun to see other's reaction to it right?
I love this show. It's such a great mixture of comedy and drama and the divine/supernatural and humanity. I hope you continue to enjoy the show. Also, as others have said, season 6 really isn't that bad at all. I enjoyed it, and it certainly wrapped up the story much better than another series that ended near the same time but had a much less satisfying ending. Hopefully you'll enjoy it too.
While we all are waiting for Outlander S7b, it's great to see you found your way to Lucifer which is way more than meets the eye. Whatever you will see in forthcoming eps, please keep in mind that not everything is made up. In fact the overall framework of Lucifer is based on a comic book which in turn is based different religious/christian exegesis. Like, other than those we are familiar with. In old Hebrew, Aramaic and Jewish conceptions God had a wife and the archangels are their children, thus Lucifer is God's son. Satan is just a title, a function like director or CEO, and so Lucifer is not bad per se, it's just his job to punish bad people. On a related note he "despises" children bc they are innocent. Keep that in mind and you will see how multilayered the series and the dialogues actually are. Season 1-3 are just phenomenal.
One of my favorite shows. It caught A LOT of flack from the religious right (my wife being one of them) just unable to look past what it is... a drama that is very comical. Tom Ellis hits those comedic lines like a pro, he is so funny. The added story of his brother and his sidekick just add more to the show. Yes, the last season kind of went off the tracks only because Netflix tried to save it but did not give the writers enough time to keep the story going the right way. Enjoy.
I loved watching The Expanse with you, but when you started your new Lucifer journey, I didn't jump onboard right off. Not because I had reservations (it's a great show) but I wasn't sure I was ready for another long series. Jump ahead 3 weeks and here I am because I couldn't wait anymore. Tom Ellis is perfect for the part. This is going to be fun.
Thanks for this reaction. While it's a bit unclear going forward, something to bare in mind about the character is that this was inspired by the original Jewish Lucifer, meaning that he was dammed for showing mercy to humans who had sinned. Not as much as the DC version, but that still informs how this version treats people.
Lucifer popped on my radar when I needed it most, I was so fatigued by shows trying too hard to be edgy, philosophical, or profound, only to turn out shallow, boring, and depressing. This show is just plain fun and unapologetically cheeky, and I love it so much. Looking at the plot you wouldn't think it would work, but the cast and crew really nailed it on this show.😍
I think you mean delightfully UNapologetically cheeky. The US needs more like this. Religion is tedious and takes itself far too seriously. Not from the US, happily. (Tried to make the un bold, can't do that on YT, they do not understand subtle expressiveness. Like most from the US.)
@@irrelevant_noob Though he does cross over to the DC CW shows in crisis when Constantine comes a calling. Not sure where there encounter falls in the lucifer timeline though, but it was Tom Ellis Lucifer.
Oh fun! Can't wait to see what you think of the show! There's some ups and downs, but overall I thought Lucifer was one of the better series I've seen as a whole. Even season 6, though the episodes individually sometimes annoyed me, I think it's unfair to say it tanked, it gave an ending I could be satisfied with and that tied the rest of the story up in a way that made sense. A lot of shows lose track of their original points by the time they're in the third season, but Lucifer managed to keep renewing itself without completely losing it's genesis from mind. Also there's some real character growth that keeps up throughout the seasons.
Before Lucifer hell didn't exist because there was no need for it. It's the place where himself a the other demons (basically those other angels on his side) were exiled as punishment for their rebellion.
Tom Ellis is Lucifer. After a while, you really can't imagine anyone else playing him.

The 6th season is like any other last season of a show. Nothing crazy new happens unless it directly helps tie up loose ends. Any show that last this long is bound to have dud episodes. I don't remember them (i probably just blocked them out). There were story arcs i could have done without.
"I am aware that season six tanked." Really? Someone said that? I LOVED it! I can't wait to see your take on season six when you get there . . .
The Netflix series Sandman is another DC Vertigo title.
If you like the dialog, I kinda wanna recommend the Librarians (and the Librarian movies) it's not as often, but it's snappy and smart and I love it
Wait… lucifer season 6 was my favorite! I rewatched season 6 multiple times!
I'm so excited that you're starting Lucifer. I've wanted to watch this for a long time but I kept putting it off. Well, I absolutely can't resist anymore if YOU'RE reacting to it. Sign me up. I'm onboard. Let's do this. 😁🤗
Are you planning on binge watching, or watching one episode ahead of Anna's reactions?
@@johnniequinn3215I'll just be watching Anna's UA-cam reactions. I don't like watching shows/movies alone and she's one of my favorite people to enjoy them with (virtually).
A nice first reaction luv, but what has made me subscribe to your channel is the fact you knew the car he was driving. Keep going you will love these characters. Not sure if you ever watched the arrowverse, but Lucifer is a Dark Horse/DC character, so he makes the odd cameo alongside the awesome John Constantine in that universe.
Season 6 didn't tank it just finished. It put a bow on the series closed everything up
I would have LOVED it if they had gotten this guy to play Lucifer in Sandman.
Yes!!! "Who ruled hell before Lucifer?" Hm...never thought about it. And I don't know the comics as well...
@@TheArcSet thanks for explaining :)
But like so many child actors she hit puberty and became unbelievable as a character.
you just have to love this lucifer character.
Loved your reaction, please keep them coming
i was waiting for you to watch this! the writing is wonderful.
This show is a blast, you are going to have fun
That's how you hook an audience with your first episode.
I was actually disappointed that the show wasn't closer to the comic book series. The comic book was award winning.
I think there's a red wine floating around that's called 7 Zins. I haven't tried it yet. It just sounds like a good wine to watch Lucifer with.
Season 6 didn't "tank", but they had to tie up a lot of plot lines and it got messy.
Are you referring to game of thrones 😂. I haven’t watched it but the fandom is notorious for hating the final season.
To the person who asked if I was referring to GoT, that would be a No.
Lucifer is one of my favourite series ❤❤❤
Personally, I really loved Season 6, and it introduced my favorite character. I would love a spin-off
Lucifer popped on my radar when I needed it most, I was so fatigued by shows trying too hard to be edgy, philosophical, or profound, only to turn out shallow, boring, and depressing.
@@triscelion7336 Thank you for the correction.
The challenge for the seties is they wraped up the storyline several times. But then got orders for new seasons.
This show is great and it keeps getn better as u go
Love this TV show. Even the 6th season is great. Don't listen to all the negative comments.
Lucifer is actually DC Comics character, but hes way more OP in the comic obviousely.
the fact that alot of people don't know its part of the Batman / superman universe is hilarious
... a "fact" that has zero impact throughout any of the six seasons. -.-
@@irrelevant_noob thats why its a fact and not a spoil
@@irrelevant_noob Though he does cross over to the DC CW shows in crisis when Constantine comes a calling. Not sure where there encounter falls in the lucifer timeline though, but it was Tom Ellis Lucifer.
@@kirbyjohnson8417 so it's just a cameo, not a crossover. The latter would have impact on *_both_* shows.
Gonna love watching this with you!
Hell was created for all sinners to go to after death, Lucifer was the ORIGINAL sinner, he’ll was created for him to rule and rot in
They swiped that one line from the lyrics of "Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones.
Which one?
Satan ruled hell before Lucifer. People mix those two up, but they are not the same entity.
Lucifer questioned God. This started a rebellion of sorts. 1/3 (200) angels fell. Before the fall of the angels, there was no need for hell.
I love this show especially season 2 is my favorite!
No matter how many times Lucifer lights up his lighter, he never lights the cigarette
You were right first time: 'By whom?'
Before Lucifer hell didn't exist because there was no need for it. It's the place where himself a the other demons (basically those other angels on his side) were exiled as punishment for their rebellion.
