I so glad I found your video. Even though it was posted 2 years ago it was exactly the advice I needed. I was planning on dyeing my synthetic extensions in that same Rit Dye in Pink Quartz to match the pink I just dyed my own hair. I bought the Super Pink dye instead after watching this, followed exactly what you did, and the color came out perfectly. I'm sure I would have messed it up otherwise so THANK YOU!

So I’m doing this color because my craft store didn’t have the petal pink color I wanted.
Did the lace get colored as well with just dipping thee whole wig?
The lace was ok the dye didn’t change its color
@@pris.j my lace definitely took the pink color 😬😬😬 but my foundation is a dark brown so you could see the pink lace once I tinted it with my foundation

Does dying it make the hair fibers dry?
No you can use fabric softener ti make the wig softer if needed. But I’ve never had a problem with dryness after dying the hair.
@@pris.j Thank you for letting me know. I have platinum blonde wig and does not look the best on my skin tone. So I am looking at dying another color. Synthetic.

Super cute. Why did I think this method only worked with isopropyl alcohol? I wish I found this video before the pandemic. I bought a bottle of alcohol for 20 dollars. Lol. I was just gonna use 2 cap fulls of a red and one of a purple to get this color. I wonder if itll work if I dont leave it that long. Hmmm

@@pris.j it works. If u dont want the curl pattern disrupted the alcohol in the zip lock bag method would be best since the boiling water straightens curly synthetic hair.
So applying the wig using the bald cap method means it cant be taken off at night? because i.dont wanna sleep in mine either
Yes you will not be able to take it off but what you could do is just glue down the edges of the front then apply some water to rub it off to take the wig off at night.
No if you want to use the bald cap method and take it off at night you can. But you won’t be able to use that wig cap again since you already cut it and put glue on it. If you don’t use the bald cap method and do what she did you can re use the same wig cap all the time because there will be no glue or cutting. Hope that helped
I have a pink pastel wig, if I wanted it a light shade of blue, would that be possible? The pink is the same as the one you have on that wig
I’m not sure how that would work maybe a dark blue but a light might turn into a light purple if it’s pink already

How much fabric softener did you soak your wig in?

Jill S Also if your wig is ever looking super tangled or frayed, you can mix one part cold water to one part fabric softener and use a spray bottle to get it damp. But since it’s already soaking wet I don’t see why doing a bath with the softener would change it’s drying process.
I know I’m late to the comment party, but what products did you use specifically after the wig had dried and you were straightening it?
I used Cantu Shea Butter thermal shield heat protection spray for before flat ironing and Olive Oil hair polisher serum for a straight sleek look
I tried this method on a synthetic wig using the rit dye more in the green color it really didn’t take all that well. It has a pastel green tent to it but it still looks mostly blonde kinda. I have no idea how to really explain it. I have no idea if it’s just the fact that I’m using the green and maybe need to try another color.
If you want a more green use more or all of the color of the dye and make sure the rit dye your using is a dark green as well .
Also make sure it’s Synthetic rit dye. And the longer you let it steep, the deeper it gets. With synthetic wigs the best method is keeping it in the hot water on the stove for the duration.
