every day with an egger is a good day edit: i get how it can be misleading if spoken out loud, however there's nothing wrong with writing a formally correct sentence with no slur in it, it's not my fault if you pronounce it a certain way
Thank you for your contributions! I'm a big fan of ethical harvesting. You're setting an example for generations to come. And I hope you're proud of yourself. Great job! You go the extra mile to take the barnacles off. It's the little things like this that make the world a better place. ❤
Not only that- sometimes you actually doctor them up and improve their health and longevity by removing barnacles… so excellent balance of service there.
I moved up to Massachusetts a long time ago to be with a fisherman.. he and his uncles and cousins were all fisherman and worked the same 2 boats and they were all salt of the earth amazingly generous and kind men 😊 I had fun and I even regret moving back every now and then lol
Jacob, you are very knowledgeable and I’m sure everyone enjoys watching your posts. Thank you for being a sustainable fisherman/lobsterman! We all love you 🥰
What gives me a warm feeling about you and Keith, Jacob, is seeing how good you feel when you're talking about the whole breeding process and lobster life in general, no matter that it involves you "losing" part of your harvest - you're so much more passionate about keeping the whole Circle of Life concept going and keeping your creatures healthy and happy. You always have the Bigger Picture in your heart and mind, and no-one can take that vision from you and your Families, going all the way back to your own Great-great Grandfathers. Its a divine plan- designed to perfection to steward and keep the marine life thriving in return for our own family's health.❤❤❤
Losing a part of "THE" harvest is what keeps him having a future harvest. These lobstermen and almost all fishers with half of a brain know a windfall payday ain't the way. We all love the good years, but we damn well know about the bad years, and the bad years aren't fixed by making the supply viability less predictable. Steady years with reliable, predictable harvests leads to job security. It ain't hard to want to be an environmental advocate when those fine creatures keep family and friends fed. A family man doesn't work for himself. He works for the people he cares about so they can learn to find what they care about and hopefully make a living off their cares.
The scary thing is, since I've been watching this channel, and I go out into public and see a pregnant woman, I want to shout out, "We've got an egger".😳😅
Right? I looked it up: "Lobster females carry their eggs by attaching them to tiny, hair-like structures called setae on the underside of their tail. A sticky substance helps the eggs adhere, keeping them secure as the mother moves around. This arrangement allows her to protect and aerate the eggs until they're ready to hatch."
I love this dude, so good at what he does and a passion to share. I wouldnt be surprised if this gets picked up by a network small series. Theres only so much you can do when its mild chop and lobsters, its not the bearing sea but theres a great story there.
@@easygrin1127I bet you more than you think do use the same practices, because not only is it the law in one of the largest lobster producing states, but it was already something lobsterman did before the law because these practices basically ensure an infinite supply of lobsters

If we're talking about commercial operations like this, probably very few. If it's anything like some of the small ancestral occupations around where I grew up, then it probably tends to be a small community where reputation means a lot, and no one wants to be accused of associating with a poacher (or equivalent regulation skirter). I've known similar (small, local) industries where shady activity will get you turned in out of spite for being a stain on the honor of everyone associated.

You probably wont see this but your content does give me a lot of hope I want to be a fisherman in a couple years, or just a sailor in general but i know that overfishing is a huge problem in some places but seeing puts me at ease knowing that i could still do this thing i feel so strongly about without having to take part in scummy fishing practices
Your videos are awesome❤. Isn't any female(with very few exceptions) a breeder? When you drop them in the water do they lose a bunch of eggs? And do predator fish eat them while they fall hundreds of feet to the bottom? You answered a lot, but I'd there evidence that they survive?
