Since the comment below already explained a lot I'm going to fill the gaps and explain the MV: Alter is short for "altered state of consciousness" which means different identities with different memories, body language, voice tone, thoughts, motives etc. They are different people and take turns being in control of the mind (the term for being in control is "fronting"). But it's not black and white since more than one can be "on the throne" at the same time which is called co-fronting, so they do have some shared memories. People with DID can call themselves a 'system' since they are multiple. The commenter said Mito is the protector alter. DID is a disorder where due to extreme trauma in childhood the mind can't integrate into one and then it becomes multiple identities, multiple alters that grow separately. Ian is the one who is in control most of the time, called the 'host'. When there's a lot of stress that can mimic how he felt during the trauma Ian blacks out and switches to Mito (protector alter) who takes control, he's the one 'fronting'. Mito is the only one who remembers their trauma. He was created by the mind back then to protect the host (Ian) as a child just so he could survive. We're going to get an "Ian" album and that's going to be more rock/metal influenced because it's Ian's favourite genre. What the mv is depicting is Ian experiencing extreme manic lows. During that time, Mito would switch with him, since Mito is his protector alter and the one who remembers things Ian doesn't. Mito is associated with thunder, lighting, darkness, monochrome, the colours red, black and white, one white left eye and an eyeball ring. There is another alter Mr. Insanity who is associated with his manic highs. Just note that alters are only connected to DID, not bipolar but Ian and his alters all have their own experiences in relation to bipolar because it affects the brain basically.
