@@KevinKanzelmeyer is it possible, that this technique not working a significant gap between the upper front teeth? At least I didn't get close to a whistle yet 🤔😅

edit: ohh okay, sorry. was just confused since i didnt know what you meant by "at least i didnt get close to a whistel yet" but you were probably being sarcastic.
i'm in the same boat as you rn, i still can't figure out how to whistle but i hope both of us will be able to whistle sometime!! good luck, friend
@@papasscooperiaworker3649 i have a significant gap between my upper front teeth, so I guess I cant get everything sealed with my tongue or lower lip to whistle like that. Or doesn't this matter at all? Could not figure out yet how this technique works for me 😅🙈
Took me four days of hissing like a snek and spitting all over the place, but i've got it down now. Feels great to be able to finally whistle all over te place. Thx man!
got me looking like a crack head practicing this at Starbucks 😂
😂😂😂😂😂. Omg this killed me.

Learned it in a week. I d say the most important thing is understanding the airflow. Air goes from lungs to the small opening between tongue tip and front teeth. From there air goes to the "pocket" under the tongue and out. When I understod that it took me few days to master it. Just keep experimenting and you ll get it eventually. Good luck!
Nikola Maric need help with this. One on one help would be great.
Do you mean pocket like under the bottom lip?
Nikola Maric I still can’t seem to get it. And not able to see doesn’t help matters. I can pucker whistle just fine. At times I feel so hopeless.
@@cunningham2010 Damn, sad to hear that, ik how nerve breaking process it is. I will give you one more tip that helped me. Thats experimenting more, and more, and more. Lot of people does same thing over and over and then there is a question "why it took so long?". There are few things you should experiment with: 1. Chin - You should try moving it more foward, but its different for everyone. 2. Tongue tip ( foward - backward ) - Try super foward, then go more and more backwards. 3. Tongue itself ( up - down ) - Like I said in last comment, you should have "pocked" under your tongue. It can be bigger or smaller, you adjusting it by moving your tongue ( middle of the tongue ) up or down. Thats all. You should experiment with those 3 things and every few minutes of trying, change stuffs a bit. Hope that helps, if u have questions feel free to ask!
@@chunkymonkey5458 Under your tongue, beetwin teeth and tongue ( where you make spit :x ). Bottom lip should cover your teeth. Hope that helps!
Spent a year and a half of practicing while driving and I finally did it thanks to this video! Appreciate ya!

The beard has reached perfection....you need to do a video on growing epic beards.
Lol thanks! No hair on top of my head - the beard is all I have!
Hey when u first learned how to do this how long did it take u and did yours sound high pitch and loud enough to make your own ears ring but no one else’s ???
@@taylorlong7401 it took me about 8 months. Wasn't super loud at first, but it's getting louder!
I love how this guy doesnt say “You wont get anything good from those videos”
But instead he says to go there to get tips and tricks and helping other youtubers
As a professional trumpet player (who has wanted to learn this for years) I can certainly relate to the strain that this puts on your muscles in your cheeks, etc. I can tell it's gonna take me a little bit to get this, but the process is everything! Thanks for the great tutorial!
he recommended other people’s videos, an earnest man
Gonna die of stress before I figure this out
Have ya made it then?
@@aminahsarahefe1615 he didn't reply because he's dead
I watched several videos and this was one of the most important ones for me to get this whistle! You are a great teacher! I have been trying to get this whistle my entire life and just figured some people have the right mouth structure and not everyone can do it, etc. NOPE! I practiced every day for over a week and I finally can make a whistle sound. It's not loud, but I know this will grow as I learn to control it. Thanks again!
******Update 6/7/23
I've continued practiced this whistle over the last several months and am SO GLAD I did! My whistle is so loud that my own ears ring when I do it! When I first started I couldn't even make a faint whistle sound and I wanted to give up. Then, a week later, I got a teeny-tiny little sound and it over the last six months it continued to grow louder and stronger. I did not have a "magical moment" where I figured it out. Rather, it was many realizations that added up to a strong whistle. The key to the whole thing (for most people) is building up the strength in your tongue. Then, you have to experiment with your tongue placement and jaw placement. Whatever you do, KEEP GOING! Even if you take a few weeks off, just come back to it. I am so glad I learned how to whistle loudly without having to put my fingers in my mouth! You can do it, like he says, the time is going to pass anyway, so just practice even if you don't want to! Don't give up!!!!
I was so surprised by the young mans voice. So full and clear, doesn't stand behind his sisters angelic voice! Great job!
😂
haha, sorry bro, that statement to the wrong video, but yours has been very helpful indeed. First video that seems to get me closer to the whistle. I can already produce tones, but not loud enough yet 😅
I saw a woman hail a cab from a block a way in New York city about 30 years ago and thought that was the COOLEST thing ever. Wanted to learn ever since but no one could explain it well enough. I'm giving this a go! Thank you! 😊
7:25 Incredibly wise words! :-)
U still trying it bud?
Did you got it?
Did any of you get it?😩
After 1 hour I almost learnt how to whistle, now i need to learn to change the pitch from a high pitch to low
I’m in the exact same situation
To change the pitch takes quite some time, but I change it by slowing the air flow- the slower the air moves out, the deeper it gets, but I don't know if that works for others.
@@lee-fg8jr your correct because pitch is velocity. The higher velocity of airflow = higher pitch.
I'm 62 and have never been able to whistle searched all of UA-cam for best advice your explanation and demo is fantastic and ill give it a go , I'll let you know if I am successful
Please do! Just be patient and keep practicing. You'll get it
I trained on your video for a year and finally got the first whistle thank you very much 🤩
My guy, this is probably the best overall tutorial for the whistle. I have wanted to be able to do this for years then I found your vid. Took me a couple of weeks to get the basic sound consistently, then a couple of months practicing to get all the Dr. Cox variations. I work in education and when you have a group of rowdy teenagers this is such a great trump card. Thanks for your awesome tutorial
Wow great work!! Kudos for being consistent with practice. And thank you so much for the kind words.
Been going at it for about 90 minutes. Great tutorial and I’ve got that soft-medium whistle down!! This is amazing lol
.... He said "Dr Cox". It's like he knew it was Dr Cox that made me want to learn! Thank you!!
Today I did it! My long desire came true today. I just got to listen My first feeble whistle sound.... So happy. I did it. Thank u soooooo much for guiding me. In quarantine I learned it. My very long long desire.
Nice!!! What a great feeling. Quarantine is the perfect time to be working on self development and personal skills!
-Reason why most people need some time to practise is because the tip of your tongue will have to resist quite some air pressure which js unorthodox for most tongues. So mose time is gonna be spent "working out" the tip of your tongue to be able to resist the pressure.-
Nvm, you actually explained it as well lol. First person to actually see bringing this up. It's the most important part.
I just ran to my husband so proud of myself. I feel like a little kid 😂
Thanks! I've always wanted to whistle like this 🥰
Last minute of this video is solid life advice. Thanks whistle-beard-dude. You rock.
Looking everywhere for how to be a better dad and have a "get-here-now" whistle.
I really like the progression in the video.
I just gotta say, a lot of other tutorials were not as helpful as this and it really helped me get the basics down. Thanks.
Jake jillenhal grew a beard and taught me to whistle!
I came to learn how to whistle, and so far I’ve only learned how to mouth fart in 20 different ways while sounding like I’m choking. I’ll get the hang of it.

One of the best pep talks I’ve ever received there at the end
Dude!!! You don’t know how much I tried it and for how long. I saw a lot of videos and any of those worked. Eventually I decided to just dropped it because I was so bad. But after saw your video I nailed it just watching it two times!!! Thank you so much bro
He brought up dr cox and he gained plus 10 respect. Scrubs is sicc
Contrary to popular belief. I got it before you finished the video. Great clear instructions. Thanks
Man that first lip trick was all i needed. Thank you so much
This is definitely the best tutorial video for this type of whistle video. Very well explained. Kudos!
wow thanks so much for the comment. I appreciate the feedback.
Thank you so much! After three weeks of practice I can finally whistle!
This may be one and only moment that i keep so much attention, sometimes rewind and watch back a man's lips. Good job dude. As a person living in an earthquake zone, i want to be able to loudly whistle, absolutely handsfree. Thanks again
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THIS WHISTLE FOR SO LONG! I finally have a whistle sound! It's not loud but it's there! THANK YOU!!!
the final pep talk is golden!! i feel like somebody finally believes in me
i really appreciate it!
Literally having a mental breakdown because I can't whistle loudly, has quarantine really got to me?
Did you do it?
I’m getting the slightest hissing noise. I’ll keep at it but I look weird af doing it
I’ve seen over 10 different videos of how to learn this, and after watching your vid i’m finally learing it. Thanks!
That is awesome! I did it! It took me 2 weeks. But I had to continually practice. I think the big part in it is strengthening your facial muscles. Once I heard it, it kept getting better and better. But this is a great tutorial video. Thanks
Thanks for the comment! I agree, the muscle training is key
Believe this man when he says just keep practicing. I stumbled across this video just trying to learn the whistle. I followed his recommendations and his advice to just practice.
It's been a couple weeks now and I finally got it! Not perfect yet, still have to readjust from time to time, but I am definitely getting whistles out!
Best adjustment for me was to bring my bottom lip in closer to my teeth to where they are just barely touching one another. And really force your lower lip/teeth out in front.
Thanks for the advice, man! My dogs have been going nuts!
🙏 nice work John!! And thank you for the comment!
Best tutorial video on UA-cam, i been at it for a couple of weeks, till I saw this video, what nailed it for me was the position of the bottom jaw. Thank you very much
Saw this vid in February, been practicing and finally got it. Now i can feel cool when calling my horses.
This is by far the BEST fingerless whistle tutorial on UA-cam.
Big thanks man 💪🏻
Greetings from Germany
🙏 danke shön! I appreciate your comment!
Did it in 6 hrs, did all night, will use it whole life
How? I just legit spit air
@@hellmet894 Try whatever shape and position your tongue can do near to what he is doing, in an hour or two you will hit the right position, then start trying blowing air with different speed
I've watched videos and read walk through and yours helped me out the most. Very detailed explanation. I hardly ever like videos. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this and being honest!!!!! At least we know it is attainable even if it takes a while or even a long while. You rock!!! Love the red beard too btw!!!! 😆 🥰
I learned how to do it today. I practiced for about an hour and 30 minutes total and I got the whistle. Now I have to get my mouth muscles stronger to make it super loud. Thanks man!!
I watched almost every video, and this is by far the best one yet! Especially the first tip helped me improve my whistle, I'm just trying to get it constantly
oAxid thank you so much for the comment. good luck practicing the whistle!
Took exactly a week of watching this video every day for me to successfully piss of the neighbors. You're the bestest. Luckily I work from home, so I was able to hiss and spit all over my monitor for 8 hours a day while working. My face hurt like hell for a most of it, but it was worth it. Thanks!
I spent hours and hours at work for a couple weeks before I got this! This is like a year or so after I saw this originally and I can now whistle melodies Easily with this method!
Hey Kevin. I want to leave a quick hello and thank you for this tutorial. I started 3 days ago and found your video very usefull. After two days I was a bit frustrated but I kept going. And now, on day three I eventually found my sweet spot and can make a sufficient whistle. Not very loud yet. But I am happy and will improve. So thank you and stay healthy. Cheers Tim
Thanks for the message! Incredible progress. It took me waaaaaay longer than three days to get a sound 😬 haha
Great progress after 2 days. Doing it a little differently, I think but this got me to start. Awesome, thanks!
This is the only video I found that actually helped me learn the whistle. Thanks for putting in the time to teach us!
That's the word, Practicing. Needs lot of practice to execute it perfectly
Man i love you , i did it after 2 mins of trying i wanted to learn this for years , im soooo happy right now
Wow that's awesome! Nice work!
dude thank you, it's been 2 months I'm exercising at it, now I do it almost perfectly (still need training) but you video made me understand how to progress in doing it, i was not really far tbh but eh, what you told on the middle-end explained exactly what I wasn't "able" to do, and what I corrected now.
Thank you so much, metal concerts and calling my dog will be much funnier and more efficient !
Thank you for making this highly valuable video. There are numerous applications for this whistle. It can save a life.
I've been able to do fingerless (or with fingers) whistling for as long as I can remember. Not particularly tuneful but it can be very LOUD and heads turn from a long way away. It's a wonderful little skill to possess and sometimes just do it for fun in a busy place then look around like everyone else.
Got in in one day, the jaw is a little stiff but I got it! My grandpa and dad could both do this earsplitting loud, and I love Dr. Cox off scrubs!
Great video! My dad is a master at this and can mimic any bird.... My entire life I could never figure it out. I could only finger whistle. I paused it a few times but I was literally loud fingerless whistling before your video was over! Great tips and thank you!!
Can he mimic an Eastern Meadowlark?
@@EchoplexGhost He grew up in the country of the Ozark Mountains and would mimic local birds. I have mostly heard him do these calls from the Northern Mockingbird. ua-cam.com/video/9L-VQYa3Ni8/v-deo.html
Took me about 5 days and of practice and now I can rip ‘em! What changed for me to get it was my tongue had to be almost in the middle of both my teeth. Then just my lip forward and down a little and I started to get it. 👍
Dude thank you so much for a very well put out tutorial! I've been wanting to try this for such a long time and with this video I managed to whistle this way before the end of the video! Thank you thank you thank you!!
I haven’t been able to whistle for fifteen and a half years. I got desperate and looked it up. No video has helped me get close. This video has helped a ton. I have not whistled yet! But I can feel myself getting close.
keep trying, you'll get it!!
Did you get it?
Hey Guy: Thank you so much. Within 10 mins. of watching this video I heard the whistle sound. Now I just have to keep practicing to perfect it. Such great advice that practice is required. Thanks again!!
This is the best tutorial because of the encouragement part. And stating that it is not easy to master the whistle. Big ups.
🤝 thank you for the comment!
I've visited these video sparsely throughout the years and could never get it. watching yours and now finally did
ur beard is just outstending! it is very breathtaking it is the most good looking beard i have ever seen before! and teh wistle is good too!
So glad you went into more detail than me I can finally delete my video lol and thank you for letting them know not to worry about the shape of the tongue cus ppl don’t realize it’s really a pocket behind your bottom lip that creates the whistle that’s why you practice exactly as you said. 👍👌
Great tutorial, using this tutorial to help with my beatboxing, best one ive found so far!
No bs I totally learned this by the end of the UA-cam video 🙌
omg i thought i wanna whistle like dr cox and its the first thing you say lmao
Right after he showed the pressing the lip in the bottom teeth I tried and got it first time! Thank you so much!
One week update (thought I might as well). Progress is great. I have only practiced a few minutes a day but I am now able to get pretty loud and consistently whistle. Now I'm going to try and do the high low high whistle thing (the one he does in the beginning)
This video works! Took me about a week to make the right noise. I watched this video over and over pausing and rewinding at certain parts trying to really see the placement of everything. The first couple of days I got headaches from pushing my jaw out so much. Tip: it's more in the tongue placement than in the jaw movement. Watch the video closely and just keep experimenting with tongue placement. Keep practicing and you'll get it.
I got suuuper close by the end of the vid! Thank you. Practice time.
Dude this guys beard is gorgeous.
Been over 1 year. My cheeks and tongue are stronger. I can roll Rs now. I can whistle loudly using different method. But still no mastery of this method. I can hear the high pitch noises. I must be close. Havent given up yet. Good luck to everyone.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Extremely thoughtful and instructive presentation. Thanks.
when he was positioning his tongue it sounded like the sucker thing at the dentist

By far the best video on this. Thank you sir. Still haven’t gotten yet but I’m encouraged.
Literally got in within the first 2 minutes, heaps helpful 🙌
