So let me see if I get this. I would now need Citizens doe wind, FEMA for flood, and a private company for everything else. And this saves me money how?

How about investigating all the insurance companies for corruption? All Florida is held hostage by them.

This move will double premiums for homeowners in Florida.

needs to be windstorm and flood. The Flood insurance in Florida is f*king ridiculous!! Homeowners insurance already has so many exclusions that you are basically just paying for something that is useless. you have to pay separately for flood insurance. which is as much as the homeowners policy. at 6k a year AND high interest rate, AND high taxes, I am done with South West Florida.

I agree! My homeowners insurance and flood insurance is ridiculous. I honestly don’t know how people afford to live here anymore.

@@annkennedy7422 I want to say around 1953, shortly after auto insurance was also made mandatory.

It is, if you own your home outright. If you have a mortgage, the bank owns your home until you pay them back. And they require coverage to protect their asset.

certain things cannot be left at the hands of private corporations, especially things you are REQUIRED to have such as car insurance, medical and home insurance. Nationalize all of it now or create a national public insurance system that people can afford or be taxed for and have these basic needs met, let private companies offer "better" insurance that can compete with what the govt offers!! Why is this so hard to understand? You rather be left at the mercy of multimillion dollar companies ceos that make millions doing nothing adjusters that are liars that deny all claims - they don't need to compete for customers, have millions for prime time tv internet and billboard advertising and skyscraper buildings in prime downtown area lol this should tell you enough how dirty this game is. Vote with your wallet!!

They screwed us over. The broke the laws by giving our account to another insurance company. Even though it was way over the 20% premium limit.

Save your money and put it into any damage that may happen. If u don't ever get hit by much why pay. Open a bank account with the money you would pay insurance 🤷

I think it’s a good idea for state to provide the wind damage coverage and private can provide the rest risky but it makes no sense why take all the risk - wouldn’t want to have less exposure - unless for the next 4 years with DT in office that could benefit the state
