It's amazing how many of these I not only remember, but can actually still sing the jingle to. ...though there's more than a few for which I'm all, "Wow...I never saw that one!" Heh.
I love hearing James Stewart in that Cambell's soup commerical! I can't help but to imagine Wyley Burp from American Tail : Fievel Goes West when he was talking.
I wasn't expecting to see Bob Weir when I clicked on this. Pleasant surprise, to see one the band members on a television ad. I assume they chose him because of the huge success of "Touch of Grey". That would fit in with the time.
These are from Sunday, 11/13/88. "Goddess of Love" aired the following Sunday (11/20/88) and the "Today" show with Jonathan Winters and George Burns aired Monday, 11/14/88.
I had those huggable Muppet Babies...and I remember the Jimmy Stewart Home Cookin' commercials...actually, I remember most of these ads. Wrigleyyyys! It's a piece of America! I also remember Almost Home cookies.
So they were talking about kids & steroids back in the 80's. . . Who would have thought? Lol. I love how there's been this resurgence of discussion over the past few years like it's NEVER! happened before! Lol. Not that I don't take the issue seriously, just funny to see them continuously trying to "reinvent it" as if it's never been as bad as it is now. Great comercials by the way! Thanks for uploading!
A Christmas tradition at our home is before any ornaments are hung, one of us must unpack the Muppets... and squeeze Kermit, placing his feet straight into his mouth!
high tech then what i had through elementry school (late 80s through the mid 90s). my school still used old computers with black screen and orange letters. i didn't use a full colored computer until 7th grade. i graduated in 2002.
Oh my god! I had one of those Socrates Video Technology things! I always thought the robot looked like E.T.... Totally should've gone with an NES instead. *snerk*
The best stash so far Mike. - I always loved at the end of every Sprint commercial with the pin drop. - $1.39 for a 6-pack? :D - The Gallo Wines commercial is so simple but is so creative and awesome at the same time. - The Campbell's commercial...man, they just don't make it like that anymore. - If it wasn't for the iPod, Apple would probably be defunct now because their computers back then were pretty poor. Keep it up sir. Nostalgia's a bitch, ain't it?
Veteran commercial actor Bill Fiore is in the "Almost Home" ad. NBC promoted "Goddess of Love" two ways- the "romantic" angle {as seen here}...and, "In the tradition of 'I DREAM OF JEANNIE' and 'BEWITCHED'....!" The movie itself leaned more to the latter (and what a cast- David Naughton, Little Richard, Amanda Bearse, David {"EMPTY NEST"} Leisure, Betsy Palmer, John Rhys-Davies}.
@texacobigred42 Very true. She was one of the best entertainers around and she will indeed be missed. But she's entertaining everyone on the other side, and reunited with her niece and parents. :)
Re: the Delta commercial.. she didn't technically lie to her supervisor. She DID get only one call but like 20 reservations, haha! I think that's a brilliant conclusion for the commercial. On the other hand that must have screwed up her talk time stats for the day! (those who work or worked in a call center know what I mean!)
The first thing I thought was Jimmy Stewart. Oh man, the golden days of television and movies are so far gone.
I wish I could see these on actual TV :-(, thanx for uploading, these are cool to watch!
I've never seen a more dramatic commercial for chewing gum
hahaha
Totally still have my holiday huggable muppet babies.
Wow! You must've had a great vcr. These videos rock. And I used to have an '88 Ciera. What's sad is that I got it in 2003!
I love that wrigley's commercial and song at 4:55, just awesome!!
It's amazing how many of these I not only remember, but can actually still sing the jingle to.
...though there's more than a few for which I'm all, "Wow...I never saw that one!" Heh.
I enjoy your comments in parentheses about each commercial :). I think I had that baby Kermit too.
Back when we lived in a world worth saving.
Vanna will always spin the letters of my heart too
Wilford Brimley wasn't even 55 years old yet at that time but senior citizens were cool in the 80's so he'd be everywhere.
These commercials are great- they bring back alot of memories. Thanks to 80sCommercialvault!
I had a socrates. Thanks for uploading brought back a lot of memories
Dude, if my grandpa is Jimmy Stewart, I would've had a wonderful time.
...a wonderful life?
OMG! I remember those muppet babies!! I so wanted them!
I'd eat Campbell's soup anytime with Jimmy Stewart.
My parents had all the Holiday Huggable Muppets when I was little. As far as I know, they still have them!
I love hearing James Stewart in that Cambell's soup commerical! I can't help but to imagine Wyley Burp from American Tail : Fievel Goes West when he was talking.

I love this!!!!
@billyfrmhill Have we really arrived at a point in history where Jimmy Stewart's voice is no longer recognized? Sad.
I just started high school when these commercials came out.
wow I had two of those huggable muppet babies!!!
Wonder if the oatmeal he ate is the thing that gave him Diabeetus
I'm talking about Wilford Brimley.
I thought the same exact thing.
Wilford Brimley has type 2 diabetes, and while obesity exacerbates the issue, it's a genetic condition.
It probably gave him that walrus mustache.
Wow, Apple IIs and Socrates. Look at how far we've come in 20+ years.
"Aw, your guy dumped up? Here, have some chicken soup, dearie."
These are from Sunday, 11/13/88. "Goddess of Love" aired the following Sunday (11/20/88) and the "Today" show with Jonathan Winters and George Burns aired Monday, 11/14/88.
I would have just turned 8, lol
3:22 O_O The voice of the late, great Jimmy Stewart!!!
Those gum commercials, lol...I still have a big red every now and then ..butbthere hard to come by now
Love the one second clip of Re-Animator on the 1st commerical.
Almost home-made? That sounds delicious...
the Cutlass, the car gang members love the most.
Wrigley's commercials, Their always jingling in the '80's. Cool ( O )
Yes, Wrigley's had some great catchy commercials back then.
Before Wilford did Diabetes.
*Diabeetus
Well, I thought Vanna White was hot, but...wow.
The "Pat of Butter" song is amazing.
That is a catchy jingle!
#16 at 7:26 was my uncle jerry he was in lots of commercials and some movies.
I had those huggable Muppet Babies...and I remember the Jimmy Stewart Home Cookin' commercials...actually, I remember most of these ads. Wrigleyyyys! It's a piece of America! I also remember Almost Home cookies.

Love the Home Cookin' commercial.
So they were talking about kids & steroids back in the 80's. . . Who would have thought? Lol. FYI I beleive the voice singing for the butter commercial is the great Dr. John!
I'm a huge Deadhead so imagine my surprise when I saw Bob Wier on Safeway commercial. Lol. Awesome!
Here in Australia we still use that old K-Mart logo.
I remember when K-Mart was "The Saving Place." Sadly, they are pretty much defunct here now.
Punch it Margret! I almost forgot about that one!
funny....i have the same reaction using a sprint cell phone
Ever thought you could go through an 80's commercial collection and escape from the horrors of The Bush Administration. Yeah, no such luck. lol
Awesome, Bob Weir!
Had the miss piggy and kermit hugable animals. I am old!
Wilford Brimley ate those oats in the '80s and now he has the "diabeetus."
The Sprint ad is too funny!

I still have a few Mcdonalds xmass plushies.
The best times as a kid
OMG! That apple 2gs is freaking high tech shit!!!
10. McDonald's Holiday Muppet Babies.
Still have these. If you press Kermit's tummy, his feet go straight into his mouth!

I miss the 80's!! :(
3:25 wow i didn't know bane liked chicken soup so much!!!!!
A Christmas tradition at our home is before any ornaments are hung, one of us must unpack the Muppets... and squeeze Kermit, placing his feet
straight into his mouth!
What ever happened to that Campbell's Home Cookin' soup?
If I had anything to do with Muppet Babies, it would be Fonzie. He was and still is my favorite. And coming from the Muppet Show, Animal!!
high tech then what i had through elementry school (late 80s through the mid 90s). my school still used old computers with black screen and orange letters. i didn't use a full colored computer until 7th grade. i graduated in 2002.

That's Martin Sheen's voice on the Toyota Camry commercial.
Dat 80s!

"You know, the problem may not be your phone". True. You might need anger management. At least cut down on the caffeine.
Wow I remember that Kermit the Frog muppet baby I think I had that. I didn't know it came from McDonalds.
Punch it Margarte!!! :)...
6:23 That dude at the end looks higher than a KITE!!!
I was damned when I found out that Mr. Quaker Oats was Dr. Blair from The Thing. Damn he aged years after he did that movie.
"Thats Groooovy"
The best stash so far Mike.

@texacobigred42
Very true. She was one of the best entertainers around and she will indeed be missed. But she's entertaining everyone on the other side, and reunited with her niece and parents. :)
we still put the baby kermit and baby piggy out every year.
It's the Quaker Oats guy!!! And I noticed America was not that overweight back then... What happened to us??
HMMM thats what my mom said to me every time she tucked me in "good night baby piggy".
7:24 Lol, The Phone
"This is not your father's Oldsmobile." Um... yes it is. OLDS-mobile.
the diabetes guy is the oatmeal guy
Holy shit! I had Socrates.
@humhunny I agree. I was just pointing out why at the time there was a butter industry promotion :P
Butter was threatened at the time by a margarine fad.
Re: the Delta commercial.. she didn't technically lie to her supervisor. She DID get only one call but like 20 reservations, haha! I think that's a brilliant conclusion for the commercial.

i had the kermit one.
Diet Apple Slice in the Safeway commercial!!
I don't think the Delta operator was lying to her supervisor. She took one call, where each guy handed off to the guy behind him.
i miss slice :(
Is that Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead? It looks like he's loaded. L.O.R.L.
