Ah, Shredded Wheat, one of a few cereals that tasted just like the box it came in. I really miss Wendy's. There's a food place in Australia with the same name, but all they sell is ice cream and hot dogs. Can't help recalling Dave Barry's rants about spending perfectly good US dollars at Toys-backwards-R-Us.
I had that Magnavox Explorer when I was a teenager - I got in 1991, when I was 14. In fact, I still have it in storage, and I have the floppies that I used to store the word processing files I composed on it. :)
I grew up in California, too (Southern and Northern) and I vaguely remember there being a Showbiz Pizza...I think it was in San Diego where my grandparents lived, so I only went there once or twice when I visited them. However, I could be wrong. I've forgotten all about Showbiz Pizza until now. Yikes. Love your channel, btw. It's relaxing, just to let em play...so familiar like a warm blanket!
OMG! Dave Thomas! I love him!!!! I remember always wanting to go to Wendy's just so I could meet him. I never did :( but I will always remember how awesome he was!
THANK YOU!!! I was looking for that Wrigleys gum commercial for sooo long, its the best!!! I love the song, Share a little piece of America!! Awesome brings back memories
From the "Juicy Fruit Tree" in the 1970's (one of my childhood favorites) to "Double Double Your Refreshment" in the early 1990's, Wrigley's had a lot of great commercials with catchy jingles back then.
"Bambi" was the first movie that I saw on the big screen as a child--back in the days when classic Disney films were re-released in the theaters every so often.
I don't remember those Bounty candy bars. (Maybe they got sued by the maker of Bounty paper towels for name infringement?) They look awfully good to me. Kind of looks like a Mounds clone, and Mounds is one of my favorites.
They weren't sued and they're actually still made in the UK and Australia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bounty_(chocolate_bar) And the candy bar predates the paper towel brand by around a decade.
I agree with you on those "Little Lost and Found" toys. I mean, you get a critter that looks absolutely miserable no matter what you do for it. We're having some fun now!!
My favorites were definitely #2 because Dave Thomas was awesome (RIP), #4 (damn that's catchy), and #22 (because it was really strange). I always thought that Matchbox paled in comparison to Hot Wheels.
There's a Chuck E. Cheese around 30 miles from where I live but I don't think we ever went there. I've never seen a Showbiz Pizza in the state of California.
I've remembered all the commercials in your videos so far, but I have to admit I do not remember the Explorer. From description: "Volvo (They're ugly but safe!) They should have used that in the commercial. LMAO
In that Mita Copiers commercial the sped up voice is saying "Dear Ryan, considering that we've gone 500,000 pounds over budget on the Mita shoot..." No kidding!
I didn't live in the 80s, so I don't know, but to me, the Matchbox "build-your-own" thing is a bit complicated, and personally, I wouldn't spend however long it takes to customize and "tweak" your car for those 15 seconds of fun you get from it.
zzzombie888 The "Ghostbusters" live-action show was an awful short-lived kiddie show that only ran for 15 episodes. The only similarity was in the name, which Columbia paid to license for the film. The similarly terrible Filmation "Ghostbusters" cartoon was a shameless cash-grab created purely on the success of the movie (which was released in '84 BTW).
And now we're looking at legalizing Marijuana! As they say, "the times they are a-changin!" Love the "There's room in Kevin Arnold's crotch." thing. Lol! Thank you for sharing these comercials!
Luvs Diapers: "Should I have changed you before you fell asleep? Nah, these pink things don't seem to leak" Good campaign for baby hygiene. Don't change them until the diaper overflows!
1. That guy didn't have anything in his spoon! 2. Somebody let the poor guy get a table, he's on his break! 3. I think it was possible that almost every role Tony Danza had required the character to also be called "Tony". Also, yes, "lawl no puberty yet" jokes, not something you see usually. O_o 4. CHEWIN' GUM FREE IN AMURRRICA! 5. Ah yes, back when cars were built only at angles. 6. Yeah, like, that teen's relaxed yo. Don't kill his buzz man. 7. Oh man! I can't wa- Oh wait, these are just commercials, damn... 8. "We're libido slaves. It's something that's bigger than any of us." No truer words have been spoken. Also, GOD WHAT EVEN IS RICHARD'S HAIR!? 9. ...Is it wrong to be turned on by a candy bar commercial...? 10. Why did you buy the home if the roof was bad!? 11. Guh, I think this gave me diabetes just watching it. Seriously, who wants something that cries constantly? (Then again, I think that about babies in general so...) 12. This jingle better never go away, it's too iconic. And yeah, even now I identify with not wanting to grow up as an adult. 13. Kinda weird to see what looks to be a measured doc on Nixon 14. There was a lot of weird accents in that one, isn't it? 15. OH GOD THE CLOTHES ARE ALIVE! 16. Santa better fix that roof as part of the deal. No wonder the lady at 10 was worried! 17. Better get those teeth cleaned before we throw Bambi back into the Disney Vault! 18. No quips from me, that's actually pretty awesome. Customizable cars, cool designs, simple but catchy jingle; 5 stars! 19. Wow, I wasn't aware that Full House was so... boring. 20. God, that is some Grade A vintage beauty right there. Say what you will about 80's hair, she's gorgeous. Oh, and, uh, heels or something... 21. I don't know if this means that Volvo's are safer than other vehicles or if their owners are just more accident prone. :-\ 22. ... Okay, I'm scared, moving on! 23. Oh man, the late great Tony Jay can make even a home computer sound world changing. Also BALD ALIEN MAN AAAHHH!
I like the lUvs Deluxe diaper commercial. Does anyone have the one where the boy says at the end "I like that diaper?" Who is the woman in that diaper commercial? If you have any more let me know please.
Do they still make those big Shredded Wheat "biscuits"? It seems all the varieties I see in the stores nowadays are spoon size. Also, I believe it is now a Post-branded product, not Nabisco.
The "Real" Ghostbusters? No they weren't actually. They were the "MOVIE" Ghostbusters. The REAL Ghostbusters were the other Ghostbusters which was based on the 1975 filmation live action show. The 1983 movie was actually a rip off of that show.
Ah, Shredded Wheat, one of a few cereals that tasted just like the box it came in.
I really miss Wendy's. There's a food place in Australia with the same name, but all they sell is ice cream and hot dogs.

The Lost N Found stuffed animals commercial was so cute that it made me cry
How could six people dislike this? What's not to like?
I remember having seen some of these commercials in the morning before heading off to school.
I had that Magnavox Explorer when I was a teenager - I got in 1991, when I was 14. In fact, I still have it in storage, and I have the floppies that I used to store the word processing files I composed on it. :)

Wow, Tony Jay did that Explorer commercial.
Such an awesome voice, one that's dearly missed!
OMG! Dave Thomas! I love him!!!! I remember always wanting to go to Wendy's just so I could meet him. I never did :( but I will always remember how awesome he was!

I don't remember those Bounty candy bars. (Maybe they got sued by the maker of Bounty paper towels for name infringement?) They look awfully good to me. Kind of looks like a Mounds clone, and Mounds is one of my favorites.

@@80sCommercialVault Interesting; thanks for clarifying that.
Damn, I miss Dave Thomas in Wendy's Commercials
If the Matchbox Superfast was made today I would so buy it. Great project kit for kids even in the video game age today
these aired the day my brother was born, awesome! lol.
I agree with you on those "Little Lost and Found" toys. I mean, you get a critter that looks absolutely miserable no matter what you do for it. We're having some fun now!!
Tony Jay left these best classic commercials. I love Tony Jay.
@ 8:02 the voice for Mita commercial is still around. I believe he continues to do the voice for Boar's head.
I totally remember watching that "The Real Ghostbusters Halloween Special" as a kid.
My favorites were definitely #2 because Dave Thomas was awesome (RIP), #4 (damn that's catchy), and #22 (because it was really strange).
I always thought that Matchbox paled in comparison to Hot Wheels.
Lost and Founds! My sisters and cousins had those!!!
Geez, I remember most of these.
Dave Thomas, we miss you. God, give him back; you can take Justin Bieber instead.
There's a Chuck E. Cheese around 30 miles from where I live but I don't think we ever went there. I've never seen a Showbiz Pizza in the state of California.
13 years after I was born This was
Released in 89
I never felt like that when a put a stick of double mint gum in my mouth.
I've remembered all the commercials in your videos so far, but I have to admit I do not remember the Explorer.
From description: "Volvo (They're ugly but safe!)
They should have used that in the commercial. LMAO
Doogie Hauser making out with a GIRL? These are old commercials.
I don't even wanna go talk about that Mita commercial, lol.
Yes, that's him
The Anti-Mary-Jane promo looked like Pot gave the kid mental clarity instead of a rambling mind.
In that Mita Copiers commercial the sped up voice is saying "Dear Ryan, considering that we've gone 500,000 pounds over budget on the Mita shoot..."
No kidding!
the wrigley one killed me
I didn't live in the 80s, so I don't know, but to me, the Matchbox "build-your-own" thing is a bit complicated, and personally, I wouldn't spend however long it takes to customize and "tweak" your car for those 15 seconds of fun you get from it.
i remember when i was a kid i thought i'd be big and strong if i ate a lot of shredded wheat. I didn't think i'd ever stop shittin' lol memories
25 cents for a pack of gum! now its a $1.50 - those were the days.
I had Bambi on VHS and I got Full House season 3 on DVD
I didn't wanna grow up, either, but it happened. Now my children are Toys-R-Us kids!!

I dun wanna grow up!! Toy R Us' ad is awesome!:D

Was that Dynamo from The Running Man in the Explorer commercial?
Not sure if I've outgrown Toys R Us or the new toys suck...
zzzombie888 The "Ghostbusters" live-action show was an awful short-lived kiddie show that only ran for 15 episodes. The only similarity was in the name, which Columbia paid to license for the film. yeah hence the "real" ghostbusters which was continued from the original movie. I should know I grew up in the late 70's and 80's
lol I wanted a "Lost and found" Koala when I was little...but I never did :(
That's because Christie is the Canadian division of Nabisco.
lost and founds are really creepy in the window awake in the bed and all
And now we're looking at legalizing Marijuana! As they say, "the times they are a-changin!"
Love the "There's room in Kevin Arnold's crotch." thing. Lol!

I have said Doogie episode on DVD from their first season
Anyone else notice at 5:24 the train suggests a little something something in its movement between the dinosaurs legs?! Subliminal messaging much?
OMG, Toys 'R Us is subliminally telling our kids to have dinosaur train sex!!!
Christ these subliminal advertising conspiracies irritate me.
Bought out by Hasbro.
I like the lUvs Deluxe diaper commercial. Does anyone have the one where the boy says at the end "I like that diaper?" Who is the woman in that diaper commercial? If you have any more let me know please.
one question 80scommericalvault WAS THAT kingkongbundy in the last commercial.
We had Showbiz in NJ
Oh man put your helmet back on robot computer guy.
So for the marijuana PSA they admit to getting a 14 year old high for their test or the test was made up? >.>
No kidding hahaha
@mizzrandome They're creepy looking, have over 100 million dollars between them and the one with the shifty eyes probably killed Heath Ledger.
@vivien44 I must be odd. I loved shredded wheat when I was a kid
Do they still make those big Shredded Wheat "biscuits"? It seems all the varieties I see in the stores nowadays are spoon size. Also, I believe it is now a Post-branded product, not Nabisco.
1:17 lol XD
1:18 best...
I'm disappointed. I was looking for the actual "Ugly but safe" Volvo commercial. This wasn't it.
