    Great video! I’ve been going back and forth online and decided to jump on UA-cam and ran across your video. I laughed at the end because I’m still a bit torn lol, but this was helpful! I think I’m leaning Heritage, hopefully it fits my oval head lol.

    I just purchased the Heritage in blue with white trim which matches the blue on my Lectric Bike. I am not a matchy-matchy person but this color of blue is my favorite color. It is so easy to adjust with the dial in the back to quickly go for a snugger fit. I also love the ease of the magnetic clasp, and you can do it with one hand with practice. I also have more of a racing style helmet but my new Thousand feels like it just sits better down over my forehead and I love the little visor. It is just a much comfier fit! It is just a classy looking helmet with the vegan leather straps. Now I just need some warmer dryer weather to get out and ride in comfort!
    Three years ago, I suffered a concussion and it took me at least a year to feel myself again and to recover some of the cognitive skills I lost. I never ever want to go through that again! Someone recently told me not to pay any more for a helmet than your head is worth to you! Mine it priceless!

    Great review. I'm trying to decide. I think I'll get the Heritage. I like the minimal simplicity more too and it's safety rated highly in Europe. MIPS ratings are great but I feel it's not really necessary. Just the latest and greatest to charge more money. I used to ride dirt bikes, motorcycles, when I was a kid. We didn't have MIPS back then and I saw and was involved in lots of high speed crashes. Wearing an ordinary crash helmet is all the safety we needed.

    • @GadgetsGearCoffee
      @GadgetsGearCoffee  15 днів тому +1

      I agree for the most part, I'm sure MIPS can help with concussions and certain crashes but it's really hard to say which one will be THAT crash and if you'll ever be in one. So if someone wants top safety, then go for MIPS. One viewer brought up that Thousand wasn't ranked top in some safety crash tests but at the end of the day if it passed certification and is likely to save your life in most normal crash situations and you like it and YOU WEAR it, then that's the right helmet. The safest helmet is the one you wear!

      I have both helmets, I use the Chapter with my e-bike so I have one helmet for each bike, just for simplicity too to manage my helmets as I attach them to my bike. I also have 2 sets of Thousand gloves, each attached to each bike so when I get to my bike I'm ready to go.

    Very helpful, thanks Jess 😎. I have had a Heritage for a few years and totally love it. I recently came off my ebike on slippy mud. Posted on Insta and Thousand got in touch to offer a free replacement helmet, which is part of the customer deal. Their customer service is 👌. I had the blue originally but went for the black to match my new bike. The design makes me want to wear it. My partner is now looking at them but is keen on the MIPS. However, I prefer the integrated peak, which worked well as that was the bit that hit the ground.

    • @GadgetsGearCoffee
      @GadgetsGearCoffee  2 роки тому +2

      The non MIPS version is certified according to a lot of industry standards and MIPS is a newer invention and people have been wearing helmets for without MIPS for a long time.
      So I can't answer your specific question since I'm not certified in any way to, but if you want to ask which will offer the maximum safety between the 2, then that's the MIPS one

    I got the Chapter after watching all those positive reviews. It's one of the prettiest MIPS helmets for sure, but besides that it wasn't very nice to be honest. It's so uncomfortable, even the little velcro dots left marks pressing in my forehead through the super thin padding. It also feels kinda flimsy/cheap and it's so noisy when you get above 20kph. I returned mine and got an Abus Hyban 2.0 MIPS instead which has been a dream so far. Super comfy, quiet, and much stronger with that ABS shell to boot. Do yourself a favor and get a real helmet folks, this is nothing more than a well marketed fashion statement.

    • @storm3016
      @storm3016 Рік тому +1

      @@GadgetsGearCoffee I agree heads come in many shapes and forms, but it's not just that. The padding is really thin on the Chapter and there's not much of it. Only a little bit on the front and sides and nothing on the rear. If you've never tried one of the more experienced brands like for example Abus, Giro or Lazer I'd suggest you give them a shot. The difference is pretty massive and many of them are only half to 2/3th the price of the Thousand Chapter. Cheers from the Netherlands :)

    Is there a way to lock the strap after the magnet connects? I’m concerned the magnet may give if enough force when in accident then the helmet goes flying off.

    • @GadgetsGearCoffee
      @GadgetsGearCoffee  3 роки тому +1

      nope the magnets are it but it's not just magnets, there is some sort of labyrinth connection if you will that would make it quite difficult for that to happen in the scenario you're describing. You'd need a scenario where somehow the clasp manages to slide off first to unclasp, then fly off - a situation I don't imagine happening often if at all. If you see this photo thingsthatfold.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Biologic-Pango-Fidlock_buckle-open.jpg you'll see that there are several spots where it mechanically slots in - is it impossible? probably not but you could say that about any clasp, there is always a failure point. You could write Thousand I'm sure they could explain in details their tests and such

    Being pretty on your way never gets any objection from me ya girls. Being smart is a super plus. Less than smart riding sorta does get the cringe. But that's just me, and will be since I criticize stuff along my way. MIPS is a danger close sorta choice. Where ya going is a big thing in gear for me. fair though 99% of my biking is on dedicated bike paths. The most dangerous things are actually pedestrians... might be worse than cars. Especially when they Wizard of Oz interlock their arms in a row, WHY? WHYYYYY? MIPS is safer but ultimately a helmet that is certified will still protect ya. I recently bought myself a really nice Trek ebike. I already own a helmet that I honestly do wear when I'm out riding, but its SUPEERRR lame looking =(
    I'm definitely going to buy myself a Thousand helmet, but am still not quite sure which version I should get. This comparison helped me out tho! Loved it =)

      I mean you gotta get a nice helmet to match the nice e-bike! You can't go wrong with either one

      I'll consider it, second person to request it! What do you want to know about it? I'm not a Uber cyclist so it'll be more a story and a "show and tell" type of thing

      @@GadgetsGearCoffee just want to see the complete collection. a good helmet is only good next to the right bike. no stress:) A story is definitely interesting!

    overpriced both, save your self 70% and buy a Quba, exact same styling and safety but wayyy cheaper.

      no kidding, thanks for that share! I will say though, I'm not sure which company came out first with this design - if it's Thousand, there is a lot of design work and time (which means RnD $$) that is put into it that Quba wouldn't have had to spend otherwise so it's very easy to copy a pre-existing design and then sell it - that's not fair to the original designer. So your comment of "overpriced" is not a fair comment and is only one of many aspects. Yes, on a purely budget scale, Quba would win but that's not the whole picture. Also, it doesn't have the U lock hole and I personally use that all the time, Thousand has that crash helmet replacement and amazing customer service as well. Depends on what you value but comparing pure costs for products is never the full picture and depends from person to person.

      subjective, there are many other options if you're more budget conscious and don't care about all the additional features and purely want a simple bike helmet
