I love the contrast between the deep themes that this cutscene implies and the "try charging, but hole" message
It is possible that by touching the egg, the player is transported into the future, to a time where Filianore has died of old age. This is hinted at by Gael's weaponry stating he had fought "numerous battles" and Shira having spent "a long time" searching for the player.
She was probably dead long ago but was still sleeping, she woke up and died, uncovering the illusion casted on the world
She hollowed.
At first I though Filianore just trying to wake up after her "eternal" slumber, after the hero accendently shattered that egg-thingy, but after that flash, that went "Whaaat??? Oh nooo!". She must have been dead for very long time or so. Poor girl! :(
This whole scene was so unsettling! Something extremely eerie about the image of Filianore slumbering in that ancient chamber. You could already tell something was off by the way she looked, as if she wasn't supposed to still look like that. Then the reveal that she indeed died there as an old woman a long time ago; it just felt so tragic and eerie. Really got to me.
TheAphexTim oh
@@TheAphexTim i think she didnt die when you woke her up, just that her waking up accelerated time around you until she eventually died
Just goes to show the lack of limits to the cruelty Gwyn would subject others to in order to keep the fire burning. His own daughter. Her design was inspired by the Angel's Egg. Its a good movie... albeit a bit eerie itself.
@@chicodepuertorico1450 oh wow that’s an awesome fact it’s definitely an interesting movie that makes you ask a lot of questions but it’s free on UA-cam!!!
One of the most beautiful moments in gaming.
Could be that the egg represented the world of Dark Souls; a shattered and hollow shell held together only by the sheer willpower of Filianore. Then you break it and the world finally ends.
You just HAD to touch it!
Me while playing: I DONT GET IT. Everything has already turned to shit. There are bloated creatures walking the streets, dog things in the swamps, candle head scholars in the library. How bad could it be if I touched the egg?
Me:
1. *Touches the egg*
2. *The egg crumbles*
3. *Light shines*
4. *The illusion over the land fades and now nothing is left beside ash*
Me: ..............................................I just HAD to touch it
Aquamarine Mystique Nope, seeing Filianore is a better ending than killing Friede's grandfather :)
Ashen One, Toucher of Things
@@Greendalewitch the Souls's law, if the things are already turned to shit, it will definitely become more shitty than it already is
That moment, when we discover what Dark souls 3 adventure was all a ilusión and the flame cant keep the world alive, priceless moment
I love all the messages left by the community. Truly, the pinnacle of sanity and reason in the world.
who asleep is able to retain their posture when the thing they're leaning on breaks
Simeon Ponce Maybe it is one of those only simply few are allowed to touch it. For example sveral cultures have objects that only those without sin stained hands are allowed to touch it. Filianore is pure at heart and therefore the egg shell doesnt crumble
But when someone sinful like us touches the egg...well...
Could she be holding a Vagrant shell? In DS1, they could contain Humanity. Maybe when breaking it, you let the Humanity run wild and break the illusion keeping the Abyss at bay?
Interesting point, I forgot about the vagrants. Its possible but I have a feeling the egg is a reference for something else.
I like this idea. I think the egg contained the Dark Soul.
I completely forgot about the existence of the vagrants in DS1 because you almost never saw them unless you played close to release when a ton of people were playing. The resemblance is every really strong darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/file/Dark-Souls/Vagrant_Evil.png
aromardu It's Midir's egg
@@wyrmlight7446 I know this comment is 4 years old lol but you can still run into them I did it like 2-3 months ago and I have 1000s of hours in all the soulsbourn and I’ve only ran into the vagrant once
Nothing beside remains, round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare... the lone and level sands stretch far away
Filianore:AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Now im waking up,I'll forget everything......
micolash haha
Filianore's hair is still black when you find her corpse, so she presumably died before she got old. Perhaps she had to use her own soul as fuel with that Transposing Kiln to create the solid mirage of the Ringed City. Perhaps whatever Abyssal power she had in her body and apparently let rot and fester (judging from the dark veins stretching from her eyes and her heavy, almost soaked eyelashes) eventually killed her. Maybe she even would have been alive to talk, but the timelines/worlds oh so "conveniently" overlapped at that moment and we were brought in alignment with Gael's timeline/world, where he killed her for whatever Dark was in her.
It's a shame this suddenly revealed, seriously important character didn't get even a single line, especially when her circumstances were tragic enough, basically being sacrificed by her father and told a lie that he'd return for her one day. That lie, along with her being noted as the youngest daughter, gives the impression that she was both betrayed by her father and perhaps had a youthful naivete that he exploited, effectively wronging someone who was ill-suited to even eventually connecting the dots and realizing and coping with what was really expected of her.
In other words, an average priness from the middle ages.
"love ahead therefore try tongue"
"try charging but hole"🤣
So do you travel through time, or do you dispel an illusion that reveals the actual wasteland?
Yes
Miyzaki: Yes
Time is convoluted
The Sun is still real I think
Late to the party, but you’re actually in the ringed city in the future, when Gael took over everything.
Mt guess is that she immediately realizes her father is never coming, she goes hollow, her protective spell gets corrupted and kills her in the process. Magic this powerful probably happens in a fraction of second.
Too bad though, we aren't on a journey to keep the illusion alive.
We are on a journey to find the Blood of the Dark Soul.
2:04 you can see Anor londo and Drangleic
Lothric and Anor Londo
CLONK CLONK CLONK 120 kilos of armored guy with giant shield and a long sword walking loudly all around but filoanore: “meh I sleep”
The Ashen one after running with heavy metal boots for 30 seconds straight: *touches a broken egg*
Filoanore: “oh gods you woke me up guess I’ll die”
Ashen one: “ o__o ”
That zoom out is one of my favorite moments in any From Software game
You, the player, once thought to be harmless, indirectly and simply killed the world!?
To say it with the words of a wise man: "Don't touch that!"
This is up there with how I felt when I faced Gwyn for the first time - tragic in a different way though. In DS1 seeing this great Lord you read nothing but myths and great epic tales about turn into nothing but a husk to keep his dynasty alive felt very Shakespearean. But Gwyn chose that fate. Here though? Fillianore is a complete innocence, just left in a sleeping state pretty much outside of time waiting for her father's return. When the egg breaks and The Ringed City is then snatched back by time and you see her hollow state, it yet again reminds you of the tragedy of Dark Souls - no matter the choices you make in this world, someone is going to be negatively effected by it. Then seeing Lothric and Anor Londo in the distance surrounded by ash wasteland - tells you that the sacrifice Gwyn made was all in vain. You can't beat the cycle. Embrace the age of dark.
it's the same scene essentially as "killing" Gwynevere in DS1. You break the illusion being held together. She wasn't actually alive when you touch the egg
I disagree, Gwyn's children all controlled some aspect of light, (lightning for the nameless king, The bounty of sunlight for gwynevere and illusions for gwyndolin.) Filianore controls time. When we wake her, her opening her eyes causes the time around us to rapidly accelerate forward in time until she finally dies.
The ringed city was kept in stasis by her slumber, and when she wakes the world finally progresses.
@@will2brown50
I thought that too until I realized that the light comes from the heap that used to be the egg. It doesn’t seem like she is doing it, the egg breaking somehow did it
Talk about needing your beauty sleep, amirite folks?
The anima awakens and bears witness to the conquering animus, a dark hole in its heart, always hungry, always empty, never satisfied.
Ashen One: T O U C H (imitating Patrick Star)
Shira: Don't touch!!
So whose egg was that?
Priscilla?
Yorksha?
Ocelotte?
Midir?
Omelette?
A bit big for Yorshka or Ocelotte maybe xD
CurseCreep Midir
Painter gave scales might be her daughter or the egg she was trying to protect
Filianore but with no feet? I'm surprised Miyazaki didn't include those... things... hand it over
But in exchange, she has a very beautiful face ( she's my type, I see her wayy more beautiful than gwynevere ), that's enough >:)
@@chuongvulenguyen290 I agree, she looks like the most beautiful female in the entire souls games, at least to me.
@@Zavrael haha, we are in the same boat, bro :)
@@chuongvulenguyen290 lool yeah, but still makes me slightly sad that she dies as soon as she awakens tho, such beauty suddenly all fades to dust :'(
All without us knowing why or how she got there, without her saying a single word.
Angel's Egg reference.
Sleeping with that posture must be terrible.
masterpiece
I do not understand this whole scene...why did we touch whatever she was holding and why did she die? I just have so many questions left unanswered and disappointment that we don't learn more about Yuria's little sister 😔
Ammon Thomas Simply put, by dreaming she was using her power as Gwyn's daughter to lock the Ringed City in time. When you awakened her, the dream's power ends and time catches up with the Ringed City, hastening it to world's end, when nothing is left but ash.
OH...thank you guys for clarifying. Still a Lotta disappointed though :/
We're so cooked aren't we. Doomed.
I was like.. "Oops I destroyed the entire city and killed someone on accident"
._.
I think the psn trophy should say permanent heratic for doing this lol 😂😂😂
“try charging but hole”
hehehehehehehehehehe
*VIBE CHECK*
*VIBE CHECK*
*sigh* Guess I have to cross out another potential waifu of the list
Didi: Ooohh! What is this?
Everytime I read a stupid message, I know why I don't give a shit about humanity.
_Try charging but(t)hole_
I am dying
Sleeping Beauty vibes🥀
She's so beautiful why you touch that egg😭😭😭😭
damn, there goes a potential waifu
Uhh... oops.
My question is... is there someone on earth that have all the REAL Dark Souls main story? Is it Miazaky just trolling everybody putting noncense content or at least he knows what's happening in DS serie? Maybe there's someone in Japan inside the Fromsoft office just reading these youtube comments and laughting because only they know exacly what everything means
What is that fashion souls?
3:35 Does anything happen when the Pygmy King reaches Filianore's body?
Oh... ua-cam.com/video/ojg6Caw7vCA/v-deo.html
What was in the egg?
*Egg lore please*
Naturally I'd suspect Midir.
The Abyss
who is the one curling on the ash ?
A pygmy lord, attacked by Gael.
What if you hit her?
Anyone know if you can actually attack her rather than trigger the cut scene? And what happens if you do?
You can't unfortunately... I wish she was a boss... would be nice to fight her in a all white arena and when we defeated her we would be transported back to sandy Ringed City and she would be like she is when the brightness goes off.
Unkillable npc anyway
Princess
You are so beautiful
Marry me!
