This is the story of husband and wife, a wife who loves a obsessive and pathologically unstable husband. The wife, played by Beverly Garland, had the audacity to get a job, the husband, Skip Homeier, freaks-out, and on his birthday. Great cast with Beverly Garland starring, shes sexy, shes vulnerable and above all believable. You may remember Beverly from numerous TV guest spots and her own series "Decoy" in which she plays Casey Jones a NY cop. A much underrated actor, Skip Homeier, is so believable you want to put him out of everyone's misery. Skip died June 25, 2017 and had been retired from acting since the 1980s. Kenneth Tobey is another excellent actor, do you remember him in "The Thing From Another World" (1951), or his TV series Whirlybirds? Stark Fear is a good psychological thriller that almost has a documentary feel to it, which makes it that much more believable.

Opens up with heroine exiting Liberty Bank Building in OKC, where my grandfather had his office, later a very dark role by George Clow, who taught me oil painting and was the husband of my 4th grade teacher. Obviously a bad film, yet there were many unusual moments, such as the way Ellen runs away from the light into the darkness at the Indian powwow, and then how Harvey follows her in the same kind of shot . . . lots of small unusual things like this, weird juxtoposition of music, and overall an "arty" film for its time. And how many noir films are set in Texas?! Ruth comes out the hero in this film.

Hmm, no treating women badly back then wasn't 'no big deal'...It was taken seriously.....Sometimes other men would deal with an abuser themselves..Teach him a lesson etc...Let him know that they would be watching him. A tribal sort of thing.... .Most men believed you never struck a woman or used 'mental torture'..( Or even swore in front of women!) . It was known as 'mental cruelty' and grounds for divorce.... I think there's more domestic violence and cruelty these days....There was more chivalry back then.

Isabella Ireland: Lots of us received incomprehensible amounts of love and endearment. Don't generalize about men, dear.

This was a good picture it shows what a girl/women would put up with if she's suffering from low self-esteem. One thing though couldn't understand why Jerry's boss told her to look for him.

Strange movie but semi-hit Beverly Garland who had a fetish for black lace bras and husbands who don't. In real life, she was married for 30 years to - get this - a guy named Fillmore Crank.

Where did they dig this one up. Not bad though. Skip Homeier might play a louse but he’s sure easy on the eyes everyone likes a bad boy sometimes. Beverly Garland is great too. So offbeat and corny I liked it

The mic drop moment for me was at the end, when she realises her husband was there watching all along when his friend did that to her. I'm trying not to give the ending away to anybody who hasn't watched it yet!
