I had a pair of Burmas, lasted 10 years, used them all over the world, Alps, Pyrenees, Picos, Himalayas, Patagonia, Scotland, Lake District, what a solid boot they have been, I literally used them for the last time the other week and sadly had to retire them, I am going to buy the Bhutan now that is apparently a refined version of the Burma, thanks for the review

A helpful review. Seems a very good boot for the serious enthusiast. I love my hikes around Aviemore each Feb/March.

i've had these boots and seen many people using them. It's perfect for lower mountains and medium-graded routes. If there is alot of scree, like culinn hills, or just bad conditions, like lava fields or himalaya offtrail, their seam (on the side, ones 4 stitched) get cut really fast, within a year or two. If you are hillwalking in peak district you couldnt' wish for a better boot, but i cant' justify buying it, for its lack of allaround durability. Using bestard breithorn pro as my go-to boot nowadays.

Just got these, very comfy. Didn’t realise they were Crampon comparable as they feel quite flexible, will give them a try with some C1s.

Hey Alasdair, let us know how you get on... I've definitely found using a C1 Crampon to be totally fine, but I have spoken with others that don't like it. Let me know how you get on :) Feel free to follow us on Instagram, and we'll maybe see on a hill in the near future :)

    Great review!
Are they warm in the snow/winter? Get cold toes so after something that keeps my toes toasty! Got some smartwool winter socks to go with them, thanks!

i have the bhutans, they are a very comfortable fitted boot for me, the downside is the sole needs to be a bit wider or wrapped, as sometimes it feels like you can easily roll over , as if the sole is a narrow block. the other con is that they are not really that waterproof, when i walk through boggy land in the rain my feet get wet and squelchy...i think it is due to too many seams...as it is not due to water coming over the top. i am a uk size 10.5 ..and i use a size 11 which is just about right in meindl... next boot will probably be either a hunting boot, or a scarpa boot... i tend to be out on moorland a lot so very boggy..if i go out on real wet days i wear wellies, simply because i know the meindle wont keep me bone dry....wellies on a 15k mainly boggy walk are not ideal, especially when you hit a section full of roots or rocks.
If you are just walking paths, or dryish varied land then the meindl are most excellent...but if you are going off the beaten track and super wet....think again.
the weight is not a problem for me at all, they are a good weight... very comfortable and warm when dry.

hey cheers for the vid ! do you find the vakuum insole is thicker than the original insole? does your foot take up more room in the boot?

quick question regarding the freesole glue , never seen one but just googled it and i want to buy one, was wondering do u really need to mix it with Cotol-240? or simply use as its own? just checking, as on the webiste it says 'It dries to a solid rubber in as little as 2 hours if mixed in Cotol-240'

Just done the WH Way with these and they almost crippled me. The toe box narrows too early compressing the toes. They were a snug fit in the shop, but shrink in the wet.
The rubber rand has also started to come away.
The boots are less than 2 mths old. (email sent to Meindl)
