Many thanks to Gabriel Iochpe Wainstein and Vinícius Alces Machado, of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, for the great subtitles into Brazilian Portuguese!

But it seems to me that some of the functionalists and other theorists were developing these theories as a way to build their own translation guilds and institutions, to become independent from linguistics in some sense. Many ideas by these translation theorists weren't that original in themselves, but yes, modelling here and there does help. I'm more convinced of the minimalist ideas than the multicomponential frames anyway. In my opinion, everything relevant in translation could be addressed at from different Language Studies areas, and whatever particular to be found in translation could be opened as some area within Language Studies.
