Very interesting and inspiring talk! I’m just thinking if we can rely on student translators to reveal the norms in translation. I’ve been working with postgraduate translation students since 2010 and I find that what the students do are very different from professional translators. Also, I think it would be great to include language-specific norms in the program so students can have a more holistic idea of what professional translators are doing or have done.
"profession" and "occupation" are NOT synonyms. A profession involves a certain group of occupations. For example, the legal profession consists of lawyers, judges, paralegal workers, clerk of the court, prison guard, etc Many occupations are not a part of any profession e.g. an electrician is not part of the "electrical profession" because there is no such thing
