Matt Stone owns a home in Venice and his annoyance with the large amount of homeless people in the area was part of the inspiration for this episode.

In my opinion, this is the best reactor on UA-cam. Because he isn't just watching the show verbatim and cutting some stuff out, he is constantly making all kinds of edits (for both humor and education), he catches on to nearly every reference no matter how seemingly obscure, he's genuinely enjoying himself and having a good time, and he's talking substantively about the material, while also asking engaging questions to the audience. If you're just finding this channel and you like this type of content, you'll love this guy

Train to Busan is one of my favorite zombie movies that a lot of people haven’t seen/aren’t aware of and I highly recommend it. It’s a Korean film so you’ll have to watch with subtitles unless you know Korean, but it’s totally worth it. I think I was turned onto it around 2017 or 2018 and I loved it. IMDB says it’s available on Prime video for free with Prime, if you’ve got that. It’s probably the best zombie movie I’ve seen in the last decade.

That part with the kids getting in that guy's car and then the guy getting hit by a reckless driver is something they do in a lot of zombie movies in order to get a jump scare out of the audience. They lull the audience into thinking the main character is going to be safe because a nice adult takes them in and then he gets killed mid sentence in order to shock you.

As for a zombie movie I love Shaun of the Dead 🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️. It's funny, has some action, and a few really heart wrenching moments in between ❤.

10:40 The cinnamon at the top, and anything fruit-flavored below that. For some reason I’m not big on fruit-flavored Pop-Tarts, at least not the way I was as a kid. I loved them as a kid but don’t really like them now for some reason.
The cinnamon ones aren’t bad though, but for me, Chocolate, s’mores, and hot fudge sundae are where it’s at.

When the businesses in downtown San Francisco were shut down due to the pandemic, and there was nobody to panhandle of of there, the homeless moved out into the family friendly residential neighborhoods. At its height, there were 4 homeless tent settlements with a half mile radius of my house and additional homeless living in Golden Gate Park. When downtown reopened, a lot of the homeless stayed in the residential neighborhoods because they realized they were less likely to be assaulted there than downtown. Some live and panhandle in the residential neighborhood while others take the bus "to work" downtown during the day and return to the neighborhoods to sleep at night - they're like professional homeless commuters.

What makes South Park so good is it's precise, yet exaggerated and cynical approach to real world issues and the truth surrounding them. In this episode, Matt and Trey are showcasing the dehumanizing of the homeless and also the city/state/nation leaders who do absolutely nothing to solve the inequality, but instead opt for temporary band-aids that only kinda slow the bleeding. It's like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound. Cool... you helped the bleeding, but if you don't take out the bullet and deal with the infection... that band-aid means nothing. I love this kind of meta

My favorite zombie movie is I Am a Hero. And my favorite part is the difference between American and Japanese zombie movies. The protagonist of an American movie wakes up in the morning, kisses his wife, eats breakfast, goes outside and suddenly finds himself in the center of a zombie apocalypse where everything around him is destroyed, burning and exploding. In a Japanese movie, a zombie apocalypse is coming, but no one notices. Everyone goes to work. The protagonist goes to work. The zombies goes to work too.

The issue is complicated, but it's made vastly more complicated by the steadfast refusal of elected officials to consider all their options. Namely, studies have shown that you can reduce homelessness by (brace yourself) just giving people money.
It turns out that if you give homeless people guaranteed money, they tend to spend that money on the hierarchy of needs, so they acquire food and shelter, and are typically able to then find work and start to earn money to reduce dependency. Note that this does not work on people struggling with addiction (which is NOT all unhoused people). But it does work with people who are on the street because they can't afford to live anywhere. Pilot programs in tons of places have tried and tested the approach, and it's basically worked everywhere it's been tried.
In addition to the obvious humanitarian benefit of helping people in need, it also benefited the communities as a whole, because it turns out that getting people off the streets and into homes also reduces crime and makes cities more pleasant to live in, and giving them money directly winds up costing society less than holding it back or putting massive systemic barriers and conditions in place.
Unfortunately, a lot of people in society would rather see all of society suffer rather than let a few people have something "unearned", so instead we see cities doing shit like unstalling spikes in the ground or rails on benches to stop people sleeping there, and cities constantly trying to send each other their homeless people (this episode didn't make that up, it's happened a lot).

FUN FACT: I wrote a script idea for the episode 'Night of The Living Homeless Part 2'...the shortened version...'California' does a "Uno-Reverse" and sends them all back to 'South Park'. The People come up with the idea to just HIDE all of their "Change-Money" from the homeless by way of...HUMAN-PIGGYBANKS...they keep their "Change-Money" in their rectums. Randy eats too much food and does another giant turd (from that other episode) except this one is filled with money...the homeless swarm the turd like zombie flies.
