My monitor is the same Viewsonic as yours. It has worked well for years. It is on all the time. I shut down the computer and now that it is on again the green light at the front just blinks and the screen black.I plugged in another monitor and the computer is Okay. I am going to operate on it and change the caps. I will keep you informed. Thanks for your info. I hoped someone showed how to get into it and that's how I got here. I appreciate your efforts in making this video. They are a nice monitor, it is a shame so many probably are taken to the dump or recycle center when it may be just caps. So many capacitors fail in things over time. It is a shame they are not mounted separately like a fuse so they are easy to access and change.Imagine if on the back of a TV or Monitor if there was a little cover to take off and all the caps where there in a row and the legs where stiffer and plugged in like car fuses and you could just pull them out and change them easily.

4:44 I've opened mine up twice using a thin credit card without marking up the case, so it is possible. In my case, you can't even tell it's been opened.

Got a hand-me-down from my Tia, but it says no signal analog, although I have a vga plugged into it. I have no computer just the monitor connected to my ps4

I have the same model as you. I accidentally stepped on the power strip and turned it off. When I turned it back on, everything else works fine except the monitor. It won't power on when I press on. Is it a bad capacitor or burnt fuse?

+Miscer It depends. You said the monitor wouldn't turn back on after you stepped on the power strip. I assume you never turned the monitor off daily? Sometimes monitors (if you leave them on constantly)won't turn back on because the capacitors were already bad. So what I am saying is that when you turned it off, the bad capacitors wouldn't allow it to turn back on. If that is the case, then yes it is probably bad capacitors and you should take it apart and looked for capacitors on the power board that are swollen. You should check the fuse also, but I highly doubt that is the problem.
