So I've always had iPhone and I've just upgraded to the S9+. I'm facepalming in realisation of how bad the camera app I've used for the past 8 years is... this is so good!

One thing I found out today on my S9 Plus. Before recording video, the zoom in is caused by stabilization set to ON. If you turn stabilization off you don't get the video zooming in before recording. Hope that helps some people.
you can also switch cameras by double pressing the power button again

Yeah and back 10 years ago you could hit on a physical button that took a picture instead of summoning bixby.

The last feature... swiping between front and rear cameras as well as shooting modes... can this be turned off? I find myself accidentally doing this constantly and I miss the shot all together because im fumbling with my camera modes... great vids!
That's the difference between a Galaxy USER, and an iPhone (or Pixel, wink wink) user "reviewing" a Galaxy.

on Iphone you can just use one the physical buttons (volume), or ask siri to take a selfie so there's no need to press anything (like bixby and google assistant). So this feature is kinda of pointless. Like most the bloat that is crammed in Samsung phones.

Sure, lol. If you did own a Galaxy phone, you'd know that you can make it do whatever you want, however you want, including what iPhones and Pixels copied from it. But you don't own one. You're just trolling.
This video doesn't discuss everything the camera app on a the newer Galaxy can do, it discusses things that most people might have missed, and a video like that can only be made by a person you actually USES a Galaxy phone, unlike 99% of other "reviewers".

I even found out that the option to swipe up from the shutter button to create a floating one also works on the S8+.
Most of these features are on the s8, I have a note 8
One thing that I'm seriously disappointed with is that samsung took away the ability to download camera modes

In Photo Editor Pro you can get same results from any of the modes offered.

Umm... somehow I feel like the answer I'm about to give is obvious to you or anyone... or maybe I'm misunderstanding... but based on my understanding of your dilemma, it seems like the only answer to give:...
You should *tap* the point on which you want to focus on... don't swipe. Tapping will do the job.
Its is frustrating. Happens all the time and tapping sometimes is interpreted as a swipe. My only solution is to turn off all modes besides the one you are using.

So I JUST got the 9+ and I'm learning the tricks and tips and things. One issue... When you talked about the super slo-mo music things and scrolled across to see the video sound option, I also did that and its not there for me. Its just missing that 1 option.

Reviewers often have mixed feelings about Samsung's software and watching this I can kinda see why. So many features! Also, a lot of features that are in other skins, but here they are hidden away.
I honestly forgot about some of EMUI's features (like knuckle shortcuts) so I hope I remember these!

Hi there, I have the s9 and I've been trying to figure out the last tip u mentioned, changing the bokeh shape in the background when using selective focus... I can't seem to activate it no matter what kind of picture I take, I've tried Christmas lights in the back, a chandelier in the back but nothing seems to trigger this feature?

As far as taking selfies the best way by far is to use the "smile" feature. I use that for all sorts of applications where I can't use the camera button
How about something simple like a manual override of the video's controls? Sunny day, indoor video, and my camera wants to go from dark to light, trying to think that I need it negotiating a shot for me. Results? A completely ruined video of a great piano performance. Samsung S9+. The iPhone 11 stays with one lught setting, by comparison.

May be your shutter is assigned to burst mode when pressing ? Thus you cannot move it without triggering burst mode... It may be something like that.

Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus Camera SOFTWARE hidden features. Was expecting to see at least one feature of the actual camera that was widely unknown. Lots of this stuff is doable with different camera apps.
Double click is not taking me to camera settings on my S9+. It locks the screen. Also the "Press Volume To" is under "Shooting methods" on my 9+. And the function only works with the outside facing camera. If there are other settings I need to make let me know. Also my camera screen looks different than what you have. Are you using the 9 only?
Good video... but where is your S9+ from ? I got a Verizon S9+ and nowhere whatsoever do I have the functionalities you show in some camera mode, like the sound options on super slow motion and other menus that are either grayed out or missing (like selfie with heart sensor --> grayed out) ... Is it an international unlocked model or something ?
Is there a way to STOP the camera and Video from auto changing the BRIGHTNESS?
I am trying to take a picture with bright light in front of the camera and the ENTIRE BACKGROUND BLACKENS OUT because the camera automatically compensates.. It also makes it IMPOSSIBLE to take a REAL AUTHENTIC picture/video of lighting because it's no longer accurate..

Yeh, "state of the art" 8x zoom >>> Zoom in 8 x and it's out of focus ! Every S9 and S8 owner is saying the same thing
Can anyone tell me why when I take pics with phone in a upright position and then load pics on to a computer all the pics turn out sideways and I have to individually turn each one around. If I take a pic with phone sideways I get a full screen image up the right way. Having the phone straight up and down though all pics turn out sideways on computer
if you continue to double tap on power again, it switches back and forth between the front and back camera

There is no way I could follow you at the end when you tapped on a picture and had all those settings. That would never happen for me. Also, I have no idea what the difference between a front and rear camera is or how they should be set. Thank you!
I do not have a flash option on anywhere when im in super slow motion mode. So its not possible to leave flash on during super slow motion mode 07:31 . Any idea why? (Samsung 9+)

You forgot to add that the amount of time can be changed when using the "show palm" method. Your video looked like it was on 3s but 5s is best.

Ohh found it. In reg photo mode, it's simply one of the top icons, the square with a play icon on it.

Wow I don't know what version of S9/S9+ you were using because it looks nothing like my S9 camera software. All those setting you said are hidden, well on my phone they are not. All setting are very easy to get to.
To verify my phone is a Galaxy S9 SM-G960F with Android 9 my camera app version is 9.0.03.22
Even your setting screens look nothing like mine and your camera app looks nothing like mine either.
So for me this video was totally useless and miss leading. Don't get me wrong its a great video but I think you should do your homework first before claiming that this video is to show hidden settings and features on some Galaxy S9/S9+ phones depending on what software they have on them.
I don't have an S9 / Plus and it's somewhat unlikely that I will, but this video is excellent for those who do. Well done.
I know this is 2 years old but does the S9 have a quick launch option for the camera? Like on the S7 you double click the home button and the camera opens but I don't see a home button on the S9 so not sure if that's an option. Thanks!

Dude, this is the ONLY video that actually showed hidden features/tricks that weren't blatantly obvious. Every other single "hidden features" video I've watched didn't teach me anything new because they just go over the obvious features that anyone can easily figure out by just browsing and exploring the settings. It's really annoying every time I watch a video (Not just Samsung's camera all but about any app or phone model), and every single one is the same obvious $hit over and over again. When I shoot a video & play it back the video is reversed, like if driving it look like your driving from the wrong side. I cannot seem to find a setting to fix this, Can you HELP.. THX
My Samsung S9 Plus does not have the Video Sound feature for the super Slow Motion...😕 It ends with Compelling and I cannot swipe further, it’s the last possible feature.

My S9 Plus allows you to activate the camera shutter by saying "cheese", "smile" or "capture". Video capture is started by saying "record video". Much smoother than tapping any button or feeling for the fingerprint/heart rate sensor.
I've just bought an S9+ because my old phone, an iPhone 5s had was starting to show some signs of battery wear after four years of use... and for fucks sake, this bloody thing has so much stuff that I need to dissect stuff for a month... well here I am

You forgot the voice command to take pictures. You say cheese or smile and your phone so and plus takes the pic shots.
These are not hidden features. If people bothered to RTFM they'd know how they're device works. A lot of those features are actually Oreo updates, not just exclusive to S9/S9+
Use Bixby for Selfies , all you need to do is say , Bixby take photo!. DONE WITH YOUR VOICE, ! Boom Shake laka!.....😎
I don't really use the heart rate monitor to take selfies, because it never really senses my face and doesn't take the picture because it is way too picky. My old Note 4 was better at almost always detecting, but the new S9+ not so much. With the volume buttons, I've been waiting for a while for an option where instead of just having both of the volume buttons either be for picture or video, instead I've been waiting for an option to assign one to picture and the other to video because having two buttons both doing only one of multiple options seems like too much of a compromise. Finally, I would love it if there was a way to disable the mode/selfie swiping, because the only times really it does it is when I touch to focus and to the smallest amount my finger twitches and the mode has changed and the moment has expired. My old phone didn't swipe and the moment was never missed. At least if needed, have the top bar with the modes be swipeable, but leave the rest of the screen showing the picture unaffected to the gesture.

where is the surround shot function? the answer is there is NONE! S9 also stopped supporting sidesync which totally blows. starting to hate upgrading to this phone from my S7 Edge.
That background blur effect mode is only on S9+ I believe. S9 has 3 fixed options for background blur adjust and that's it. Unless someone can tell me different? Good video nonetheless

Thank you for your video! I do have a couple questions. I can't get my s9plus to zoom in the selfie mode. Is there any solution to this? I end up with the ugliest fish nose selfies if I don't hold the phone far from my face. And if I do hold it far then I have to crop the picture, which is double work. Also, when you retouch your photos, can you zoom in your picture to look at the details? Thanks.
Buy a camera. It's much cheaper and easier to hold because it made to take pictures.

Any shortcut to the timer feature? Iphones had it standard without goin into the settings. S9, u have to look for in settings, and then disable when done, or else every click will be in timer mode. Or am i the only one who doesnt know a hack for this?

The one thing I can't figure out is the motion part when you take a picture and there's a few seconds of video! I have tried tapping and long tapping I can't get that to come up on my picture! Does anybody know how to make cropped pictures replace the original picture? For example, i take a picture and then i decide to crop it but my s9 saves it as another picture instead of replacing the original picture.
shooting modes isn't a hidden feature. That is just a shortcut. Otherwise you just go through the settings, shooting mode, and then to the front or rear camera
What app are you viewing your slow mo video in? When I view it in gallery I don't get the option of music, my video has no sound, and I don't get the time bar at the bottom (don't know the technical name)
