How can I forget St. Thomas ? That area seen from 1.08 sec to 1.18 holds bitter sweet memories for me. That's where I was walking, heading back to the ship when I realized I had lost my wallet with my ship pass, my credit cards, my bank cards, $1000 U.S. cash and along with a gold/diamond chain that I had paid $5000 U.S. for. I had on a sweat pants with shallow pockets and had placed the wallet and chain in the pocket. Twenty minutes before departure I realized that somehow they slipped from my pocket. I nearly went crazy. A ground supervisor had to ask the ship to hold until they could locate the Ford van my family and I had chartered. After 30 minutes they located him and he found them on the seat where I had been. . I gave him a nice tip and was back on board the ship ...Sigh !!!
Wow- that would have be a huge bummer to say the least and cast a dark cloud over the entire vacation, but thank goodness they were able to find it. I've had my wallet fall out on a seat many times before so nowadays when I go on an excursion I use one of those with a loop that goes around my belt. Thanks for watching & sharing the story!
I've driven a car right up to the cruise ships back in the late 80s with my visiting best friend from Springfield, MA. We had KFC sitting on my hood looking up at the bow of a cruise ship. Feed any iguanas you run into with hibiscus flowers, red ones especially, that's why if you're wearing red they might come up to you and try to chew on your shirt. There used to be a 1 story shack where the 3 story building is right at the end of the St. John dock. It had stones out front with a couple picnic tables, and there was no gate or building on the dock. My dad was involved in the St. John Pub that was there throughout the 1980s that sold subs, hotdogs, cold beer and mixed tropical drinks to the tourists. I used to go over to St. John and have lunch at The Back Yard (later became Duffy's then closed) on some Saturdays, that was practically all traveling by road on that island I did in the years I was there. When I was 12 dad bought me a 13 foot Boston Whaler with a 55hp and besides the other 4 boats he had I used to use it to go to St. John once in a while. A couple times was to Trunk where we visited our schoolmate that lived in the house on the peninsula that you see. She used to travel to St. Thomas to go to school and back every day. My best friend's dad owned the largest dump truck on St. Thomas during the time they were moving the Eastern mountain to off the Western end of the runway extending it. His driver was dropping a load off the end, lost control and jumped out just in time to see it sink into the end of the runway. Time, resources, etc dictated that they just keep going. So when you land there, you are landing on a dump truck. My family of 6 including 2 of my grandparents were scheduled on the American Airlines flight that crashed on the island in 1976 running into a Shell gas station at the end of the short runway. My mom had a dream, and rescheduled us for a week earlier with all the work and changes made for dad's 3 stores to run for 2 weeks. We were at Magens when it crashed. A call went out for the 2nd most rare blood, AB-, which my father had. My dad said he wasn't taking time out from his vacation to donate blood. Read the karma my dad died to on that island 14 years after that crash, in this book with links below. I've probably been on more cruise ships than anyone reading this, yet never been on a cruise. My dad ran a ship chandlery that had a monopoly on selling liquor to the cruise ships in the early '80s, that I used to spend my afternoons after school doing my homework at, that was located at the last building on the Havensite dock (has Senior Frogs painted on its roof). After growing up on the island and starting when I was 17 in late 1986, we used to roam Charlotte Amalie downtown streets at night bar hopping Coconuts, Rosie O'Grady's, The Ritz, Yesterdays, then to the Greenhouse at 10pm for the current live band, when everyone was partying in the islands. Since the bars closed at 2 AM we would go out to steal cars, usually rentals, and race across the island, afterward sometimes stripping them for parts. I've floored it in a brand new 1987 Accord LXi from the Fort all the way to Frenchtown one night easily doing 100mph, or over 5 times the speed limit while ignoring the lights, which was not unusual to do with stolen cars but sometimes done even with the ones we sort of cared about. One night I was with a few locals and we got pulled over for racing into Frenchtown. The cop went to arrest one of us and he started skipping around the car in a circle repeatedly singing, "Haha you can't catch me!" to the cop. He made it a couple times around the car and we had to bail him out that night. I hold the record for most boats stolen in one night while alone; three - I took them to a birthday party at Little Brewers, next to the airport. The video quality in this was amazing.I can tell this was done in 4k! Was it on an iphone? I felt like I was there. Well done! The water was literally sparkling. I loved it! I just subscribed!
There were many taxis shuttles just waiting there in the parking lot, so as long as you leave at least an hour before the all-aboard time you should be good. Note that a taxi shuttle will typically wait until it fills up before leaving, which could take up to 10 minutes.
I liked this a lot, but that annoying lady who kept complaining about the food was really pissing me off while I tried to “enjoy the ride.” Not your fault, but maybe mute the ungrateful tourists next time. LOL!
@@Dhi_Bee You are a great guy. You spoke my words for me. If you have the opportunity to enjoy the Caribbean paradise I am not sure what the problem is. Some people are just impossible. I am happy I read the comments before I watched it. I turned the volume down so I don't hear her! Great video TravelTouristVideos , thanks for the upload. We're from London-Ontario, Canada and we fly out of Detroit to Puerto Rico for our cruise in 3 weeks :-)
You ruined what would have been an excellent video by fast forwarding. Instead of 4k and skipping scenes you could have done 1080p or 720p with no skipping and fast forwarding. Thanks for making it anyway
But your one downside is that your cars are Left hand drive but you drive in the Left side of the road that is extremely dangerous as I have seen my dad rear end a french guy when I was 4 ( I live in britain and driving RHD is europe is the same ) my opinion is that the virgin islands change to the right side of the road to be safe as the cars are built for driving on the right side but lovely islands though
What is your favorite activity/excursion when in St. Thomas USVI?
Very nice video!
Thank you very much!

You were very lucky, re ship delay, plus the fact your items were found. Glad you had a happy ending.
Beautiful video quality - nicely shot.

How often did the taxi's run back to Havensight mall? I just want to make sure My son and I make it back to the ship in time.

Can you tell me the cost
If I remember right it was $10 or $15 per person round trip.
@@TravelTouristVideos thank you
is this godfreys tours?
This was a taxi ride (on an open-air trolley car type of vehicle) to Magen's Bay beach- not any specific tour company.
I live in St. Thomas
I live there
Is it just me or every road I see is made for RHD cars but every car I saw was LHD
Nope you're right- they drive on the left even though the steering wheel is on the left just like the rest of the USA.
Correct, we drive on the left.
I lived their but I moved this year because of the hurricanes
Where in in Amelia did you live? Do they have nice resorts for tourists?
They do
I live there
The hurricanes were really bad but our house didnt have much damages
I from the Midwest Kansas city Missouri and i think i can handle tornados i can handle a hurricane
