Yeaaaaaa 98.7 Kiss fm and Shep Pettibone on the one's and two's coming out with these MasterMixes here in New York City in the Early 80's. those were the days when you would hear real and good music on the radio.RIP KISS gone but not forgotten! Peace!
Alexa...consider yourself very fortunate to have found this gem on vinyl. I had both 1 & 2 and lost them along with the rest of my vinyl collection in a storage. I later found these on CD but they were re-edited and not at all like the original mixes from the vinyl version, so cherish it mama and Dance your A$$ off.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻DJ SiscoTeck - NYC.
Even the open used vinyl of this album has a very high value. They only printed a limited run of this item. It equivalent to buying a cut out album. You definitely caught someone asleep at the store. Im talking $75.00 and up for each in used condition. You are blessed.
This is the A side, the B, C & D side is missing, If you have it please upload it! :-) Fantastic mix by the DJ's of Kiss FM and by the best remixer of all time - Shep Pettibone!
Great to see this on UA-cam - I have this album, imported just for me into an independent record shop in Croydon in 1983 after I heard "Keep On" on the Capital Radio "Best Disco in Town". I still have it (on Vinyl) and it sounds as good 32 years later as it did when I bought it.
Everybody reach !! Reach to the top, everybody reach up, don't stop don't stop!! Keep on! All the best of Mastermixes while I was having it as Vinyl imports in Europe...Good memories..OMG! actually I still have it...
Three Volumes of the Kiss Mastermix albums? I know there are three of the Prelude Mastermix CDs but they're not the same as the albums. I have the two Kiss Mastermix albums but I've never heard of or have seen a third album back then.
Just curious-what is different with the ones called "Prelude Mastermixes"? Just found volume 2 on a streaming service, and so far it sounds the same, but I would not be surprised if there is something different about them. Just wanting to learn more. Thanks!
If I remember correctly this was a double album, anyway I bought it when I was 11 years old. I used to play it on my mom's record player slash am fm radio 8 track player recorder. lol
Will never forget the music wars between kiss fm and the power station, and Rick Dees, and Chuy from La Puente con su Yo no tengo tiempo para ti,and the unforgetable Jay Thomas. Grew up,had the best times, and the best years with both stations. Will never forget it how I would blast them cruising down Hollywood blvd at the tune of 50.000 watts in my Toyota minitruck
Hey, what's wrong with yoouuu 🎶 I knew it's the same voice after 3 seconds The same voice in 99 and in 83 - the year of my birthday Now I can die happily :-D
Just remember. At that time mixing was fairly new, and if a single had multiple mixes then the dj will work the best parts of those mixes. It was common then for a hot club record to be played 10-15 min before the next joint came on. Today ( in most cases)u can't do that and sustain the dancefloor, but then some djs will rock a hot joint as long as headz is willing to dance to them.

OMG! I WISH you had all of the albums recorded. They REALLY should release both volumes to CD. The Prelude Mastermixes are nothing like these.

the memories in the 80s..NYC...these jams were the beat of New York no doubt..I'm time traveling right now.
How did Shep do these mixes, anyway? Was it just using reel-to-reels and tape splicing....or what?
Yes sir, electronic effects, vinyl and multi-track reel to reel editing with an editing block.
And these mastermixes were done without the aid of DAWs!
I remember Z-100 and WPLJ copying the idea with pop-rock songs from '84-85.
thank you for posting this incredible mix loveing it in the UK

Exelente Mixed 👍🔊🔊🔊🎶🎶🎸🎼🎵🎶🎹🎧
lol I took this picture. That's my record!
Good mixes but the Dj takes way too long to get to the next song: 5 minutes just to mix out of the first jam. I would have been bored by then.
remba this was the early days of mixing...it evolved
