Who was or is Don Wade...if I heard correctly standing in for Frankie Crocker on this aircheck? Does anyone know? Google search reveals a late Don Wade of Chicago's WLS ...could it be the same person? Someone put me out of my misery please...
I couldn't say, and many of them have already left us... but I don't have time to check and notify, I prefer not to deal with them because they are always in our hearts ;)
@@MaJeStiKMaGiC I gotcha...it's just that for a die hard WBLS fan like me, I never heard 'Don Wade' man until this aircheck... and what's so intriguing, dare I say it, he sounds like a white guy which would be unusual for the times... But this was why Frankie the Programme Director was way ahead of his time...
That Is Don Allan aka Don Wayne (The Duke) sitting in for Frankie Crocker. Both Don and Frankie got their start in Buffalo, NY. When Don came to WBLS in NY Frankie "donned him" Don Wayne (sorry, couldn't resist!). Prior to that he worked in other markets but I know him from 1600 WWRL in New York as morning host Don Early Allen in the early 80's. Sadly we lost Don in the early 2000s.
@@bsmith9506 Thank you very much for the update. May their souls continue to rest in perfect peace. We are gradually losing all the marvellous players from that era of radio. If a genie gave just one wish to re-live my life in a different dispensation from my native Nigeria, it would have to be NY, 1972-92 so I could experience the magic that was WBLS!
