This movie really became one of my favorites of all times. I just love that it's such a simple movie, its 100% a movie for kids and its not about overthinking or logic, it's about magic and dreams alone, and I absolutely love it. It's far too cute and it makes me smile from beginning to end no matter how many times I watch it

Also, I feel like it's kind of a nod and appreciating the original audience that were intrigued by the books. Also, I think like 7 of the minor characters including the zoo security officer were in the UK show Ghosts
Sometimes that’s all we need in life. Simple and cute.
So fun fact: the lady who plays Mrs Scrubitt is the same lady who voices Mama Bear in Puss in Boots 2.
And Nick Nelson's Mum in Heartstopper.
Not THE Olivia Colman getting fun fact’ed as Mama Bear’s voice in Puss in Boots 😭😭😭 but i’ll take it i guess

The endings bittersweet for me, knowing what comes after this.
And honestly, if they wanted to try and get away with a sequel where we finally see the spies being sent in and Wonka firing everyone and meeting the Oompa Loompas, I wouldn't be mad

Haven't seen the movie, but so far, the set designs look SOLID. Then again, it's a musical, they have to.

Honestly, Sally Hawkins as Willy's mom is a great casting choice. That woman just screams warm by looking at her, she just automatically always looks so welcoming.

fcking love Sally Hawkins and her role here but the only “flaw” here is that she’s British and for some reason Willy grew up with an American accent 😂

Willy Wonka constantly gets screwed over due to being naïve so because of that we can buy that 1) he gets driven practically to the ruin by corporate spies and 2) he learns to be concerned enough to have the kids at the factory go through elaborate tests to see if he can trust them

This movie had me and my bestie her daughters and my brother crying especially since my brother and I have problems with our mom and to see the scene with the mom for wonka and the little girl had my 9yr old brother crying I cried too towards the end it’s one of my favs now between this wonka(timothee) and wonka(gene wilder) both are my favs
I knew this film would be great because it was directed the Paddington director
I watched your reaction on the TV and was happy throughout it all and even if you thought it was alright I'm still so very happy you reacted to it, when I saw the movie in theaters I cried three times, it's such a beautiful movie to the original and the book
Keegan Michael Key was the villain in Jingle Jangle! He has one of the best songs in that movie

Personally I really loved this movie and felt it really belonged as a prequel to the Gene Wilder wonka movie.
I enjoyed how they pushed the musical elements more in this (really all the wonka movies were musicals in their own ways).
Saw this in theater and planning on buying a hard copy as soon as I can ❤

@@taliagmail.com2005 In its own way it was (at least to me - a musical is a movie that has a song being sung almost every scene - and even the 2005 one has many songs sung). But yeah the 2005 one isn’t a full on musical; that wasn’t the style for the movie but it has a small musical twist on it with the styling.

Youre not imagining the real life Wonka bars.
The original movie's title was changed from the books title to promote a candy bar they were coming out with, called Wonka. Only problem: it went belly up very quickly because it kept melting too fast, even when it was already inside the wrapper. And then Wonka was bought by Nestle, which gave us the candy line we know and love today.
Now whether or not it still exists today, i couldn’t tell you.

It’s a decent movie but weird for a Wonka origin. Willy here is so caring for everyone and wants to make people smile. The Wonka we know showed no emotion to the possible death of a child in his chocolate river and only cared that it was tainted.
that wonka was after being isolated in his factory and ge was 50, this one is a young boy that has big dreams, he didnt made tge factory yet.

Ngl I'm glad I watched this before seeing it because I'm pretty disappointed, everything I wanted to know about and understand about the character was barely talked about if at all. Had so much potential to make something really cool and interesting and just settled for generic it seems.
